guys whatever you do, do not kill the prisoner Etienne Rarnis! Your game will be screwed over and you cant escape from the embassy. You will have to load a previous save, or if you dont have one, you have to start a new game.  If your on a pc, then just hit the little squiggly button under escape, click on his dead body, and type resurrect :)

I went the other route as well. Told the pompous noble from Solitude that the waitress fancied him then waited for the "scene". Felt pretty guilty when i saw her in the cell later on so was very glad I was able to save her.  Even managed to intervene in time to save the wood elf from the two guards... nearly killed him myself though when instead of falling to his knees and thanking me he decided to be a jerk and blame me for it all!

I wish you could join the Thalmor. I play a High Elf, and the only gear I use is Thalmor Robes/Elven Armor and Elven weapons. Nothing else. It feels completely out of place for me as an Altmer to join either the Imperial Legion or the Stormcloaks. This game was obviously created for play as an Imperial/Nord and nobody else. The other races are pushed to the back and most parts of the game don't work with them at all.

person likes lady holding drinks.

asks me to tell her.

she tells me to pass a message for him to get lost.

i tell the guy she wants to meet him in her room. right now.

he goes over, gets rejected, and the guy causes a scene claiming she was behaving inappropriately torwards him.

more interesting than the drunk guy! and i keep my mead!

lol i killed like everyone in the whole place with firebolts and the mage guild gear XD the prisoner was grateful, malborn was pissed and they both ran away. THE END. took me like 10 minutes lol.

I seem to have a glitch no one has: when i get in the party, i introduce myself to this women. Next she says some stuff to Malborn that he shouldn't interrupt her. But Malborn isn't even there, he's not behind the bar. I only have a save of like 5 hours back. I Cant seem to get further in this quest. anyone experienced this?

@NiVnoRg You should restart the quest ( i went back to a previous save where i didn't start the quest ). I lost 5 hours gaming time :-(. From that point on i saved every 10 minutes. you forgot something in the quest, i can't remember what again... But that's the only way to solve it. Best of luck.

make sure you give the guy your gear so he can smuggle it in.

if you dont, you just get some lousy woodcut axe for a weapon and the guards are tough

@somechrisguy i left through the dungeon i freed the guy chained up then some gaurds came down looking for me and they had a key to the trap door kill them get the key go through the trap door and there will be a frost troll kill him and run through after that you meet delphine back at riverwood (: hope i helped

As for others wondering where there gear is , the stuff you dont pass to the elf in the Inn , should be in Delphines hideout area in one of the chests :P

You have to go down to the Dungeon, Free the male prisoner..Talk to him...then two guards will come..They will kill the little wood elf and then you go fight them..After you have killed them loot their bodies and they will have the key..Then go back to the little trap door the prisoner will lead you to
