  • I like your very relaxed version! Even though I was not around when the song was a hit, it was the best time for music and many of these songs are still better than the current billboard 100 crap.

Keep it up, and check out my version, I just posted it today.

    Cheers!

  • I guess if you own a home and a yatch at age 15 all else is down hill from there

  • it's beat ,britsh invasion.

  • it isn't pop!!!!!

  • no?????

  • Great song, good job!!!

  • very nice. ignore the critics--keep on singing!!

  • you owned a home and a yacht at age 15? impressive! =)

  • grandioso!!

    awsome!

  • Ausgezeichnet - wir haben das gern zugehört!

  • you talk like christopher walken... but good nonetheless

  • Your awsome

  • ive been playing guitar for a long time and I'm having a lot of trouble figuring this song out! Forget about frettkiller, I just wish I could play this song as good as you do. Its not easy

  • Yes, thank you for your reassurance. I understand that these negative comments have mostly to do with feelings of inferriority. They come from people who hardly do any uploading of original material themselves. I guess this negative aggressivness has to do with the frustration they face not beeing able to produce something which they dare to put out here. But it´s not such a big thing! "Don´t be affraid" I would like to tell them... Greetings to you bakuganbrawlerjulie

  • Well done!

    Great to hear another version.

I would skip the one minute talking intro.

Many viewers would click away before you play.

  • Yes, I guess you´re right. It was the first clip that I made, and I was unsure about what to make of this youtube-thing, what was expected. Some other users had posted their view of a "brave new internet community". I still wonder...??

    greetings to you

  • it should be played in dm. that way the bass line keeps dropping.. well done though

  • thanks for a thoughtfull commentary... you´re right... I guess I picked the a-minor from a popular songbook and then figuered a suitable bassline for myself (One needs a flexible joint in the thumb !). I knew, it was not an exact replica of the kings... But Ray Davies has a higher range in his voice then I do - and it gives me more pleasure if I can add a little personal tilt to a cover song. Cheers

  • not very good

  • as good as you can do it? some people just don't want to improve. suggestions - first, go and learn to play the song properly second, go and learn to sing.

  • "Some people just don´t want to improve" - that is a kind of negative generalisation.

I you don´t like my performance here, maybe try one of my other songs? I also work on the format in general...

  • after all that chat at the beginning, and taking your age into account i thought that was going to be really good. how wrong could i be, that was truly abysmal. when you thought all those years ago that you'd never be able to play it think you probably had a point!

  • So what is this thing about age which you take into account? And what is eating you? I don´t think of YouTube as an entertainment channel in the first place. What do you have to offer?

  • sorry but maybe secondworst so far..

  • well, maybe try the one by Fretkillr. He is very skillful - I just do this for fun. Or do you think, I should give it a second try?

  • You are awesome! danke!

  • It´s the 1. of April, I guess.... cheers

  • Nice work, love singing this song myself, but I can't play guitar, maybe I can convince my brother to learn the to play it and I'll sing.... <.<

  • superb! i'd love to hear you do an elliott smith tune...

  • I love it when he sings "after noon ahh" and the solo at the end.....Very strong....

  • :) awesome! you are absolutely great sir

  • BRILLIANT loved every secound!!

    uniqueness exists in there!!

    ace!!!!!

  • rock

  • Can't help but like that guy. I can see myself sloshing down a brew in a pub while he's playing that. I'd gladly buy him an ale. Great Kinks tune.

  • Well, thanks,

and greetings across the Atlantic. We´re probably in the same age range and might have a couple of things in common. Where are you from, what´s your occupation?

  • love the bass riff you call it a skill

no way this is talent that was waiting to emerge

    BRILLIANT

  • veilen dank, Bob. Das war sehr gut.

    Veile gruesse aus Missouri USA.

  • Ja, danke auch und viele Grüße aus Berlin

  • very good! you should also check out Rickdnbackerpicker's video's he does this song and several other classic Kinks tunes.

  • Yes, his playing is really accomplished.... to watch other homegrown musicians doing their thing is really inspiring. One wouldn´t think there are so many guitarplayers still around... with so many people spending their time with these electronic gadgets. But I guess playing a guitar or other stringed instrument is an archetypel activity... kind of soul clearing. Take care.

  • That was fun to listen to =) I love that song and it's great to be re-introduced to it since it had been so long since I last heard it. And I liked your intro at the beginning as knowing what the song means to the person singing it adds another level to the performance. Great work ;)

  • Thanks again for your encouragement, some of these negative comments get to you some times... even though I understand, there must be some problem on their side. Good luck

  • Whar are your exspectations? Show us what you can do!?

  • Do we need the boring intro, if I had known you would have been so bad I would have gone hours ago, stop wasting my time!

  • Don´t know what you need. Perfectionism? I don´t care for that. I create these flics as I see fit. But let´s see some of what you like to do!

  • I don't wish to be insulting, and I hardly ever leave comments - but that was truly awful. And Baltimore was even worse. Please please please at least get the chords right before going public with cover versions.

  • you talk a lot, but the song is good

  • yeah just sing the damm song

  • Good version. I used to be a band many moons ago, and we would cover quite a few Kink's songs, including this one and Well Respected Man. They always went over well. Why don't you have a go at Waterloo Sunset... I think you a voice that would suit it well. Thanks -Ron

  • Waterloo Sunset - why, that´s actually what came to my mind, after I listened to my recording... it´s only a question of time... but I´ll put it on the list of possible covers, which I have collected. Greetings, Bob

  • great cover! i've always loved this song. keep them coming!
