  • The woods in my back yard, every winter. First time I heard it I thought a woman was being murdered back there. Scared the living shit outta me.

  • i liver in kempmill area an hear the same sound at night near wheaton regional park behind arcola elem school

  • Just beautiful. We have fox in the woods behind our house too and I just learned tonight that it is they who make this alarming and quite distressful sound. I was thrilled to find out it is jut a bark and not indicative of anything sad or sinister.

    Your night shots are great.

  • @Logans8Run duuuuude it could have been a zombie without legs ....

  • In the backround, sounds like wolfs

  • Hah i was on my deck last night letting my dogs out and heard this fox bark, ill tell you, it scared the living shit out of me! Haha good thing its only a fox! (Annapolis,MD)

  • that was such a cute fox, but dude bad inpression of a cat XD i could'nt stop laughing but ur lucky to have gotten to see a fox so close...\o/

  • Now that's one red fox. Nightvision helps.

  • Thanks for this vid.

I was woken up by what I thought was a woman screaming last night. I was close to calling 911 until I saw the fox!! hahahaha!

  • it barks like someone's squeezing her tail or som' lol

  • JESUS CHRIST! That sounds aweful!

  • Omg there was a fox outside my house doing this loads and I was really reallly scared ahaha, why was it making this noise?

  • Thank you for confirmation. I had one doing this on my front lawn at 5 am this morning. :-) Woke me out of a sound sleep.

  • Seeing that animal is a blessing. I just love watching it sit there scratching.

  • me too ;-)

  • haha that was funny when you meowed

  • haha when you meow'd it gave that look saying "fukn idiot"

  • lol meaw, quality

  • I believe that that is the mating call. The vixen, seen there, is responding by screaming out as the male barks.

  • Actually, the barking is my neighbor's chihuahua and that is a male red fox, NOT a vixen. That is a territorial bark used throughout the year.

  • Almost forgot, those spring peepers you hear in the background pretty much seal the deal that was spring and fox don't breed in the spring, they breed in the dead of winter so their kits are large enough to survive the following winter.

  • The vixen was the one who was screaming out. I thought that the background barking was the male.

  • Not sure you understand. A vixen is a FEMALE fox and this is a dog or MALE fox. IE, there was NO vixen (female) screaming out.

  • I'm so sorry. I thought that that was what was taking place. It was only an assumption.

  • No problem, they make this sound at all times of the year INCLUDING mating season ;o)

  • THAT IS FUCKING SWEET.

  • yeah i hear them bark at night a lot now if you hear them mating thats something that sounds like a child screaming and dieing lol but thats mostly in the spring when i hear it and i live in northern VA. when i played this my dog woke up from napping and started barking and ran right to the front window its soo funny when she dose that lol thanks for this its cool

  • we woke up to this sound last night in the middle of a deep sleep and freaked out...didn't know what the hell it was. I thought something was dying! Somebody thought it might be a fox but needed to hear it again to be sure. I am so glad it was just a cute little fox being LOUD!! And not a screaming ghost!

  • lol cute foxs r fuckin awsum
