Give it a break, there were no human-like boating figurehead as well in the arabian world, it was only added for dramatic effect, so was this hollywoodian hindu goddess. It doesn't prevent this movie from being highly entertaining.

Okay people I know that the idea of this may not work for some but it's not liek they were saying THE Kali was dancing for him. It's just a statue meant to trick the worshippers and fight Sinbad. The following fight is probably the best scene in the movie and the only way they took it down was by sneaking up behind it. It's not to say it's weak and it's certainly not trying to make some big debate about religion. Just enjoy the great stop-motion.

this reminds me more of Śiva than Kali. this was done in the 70s, and i'm sure these characters didn't care about authenticity or research. in any case, this is a kick azz dance! i've tried it myself. this was the best part of the movie!

Okay people I know that the idea of this may not work for some but it's not liek they were saying THE Kali was dancing for him. It's just a statue meant to trick the worshippers and fight Sinbad. The following fight is probably the best scene in the movie and the only way they took it down was by sneaking up behind it. It's not to say it's weak and it's certainly not trying to make some big debate about religion. Just enjoy the great stop-motion.

The statue is indeed in posture of Nataraj i.e lord shiva perfrom his tandav dance but other entities have also done the tandav based upon lord shiva's original tandav.. But this is not lord shiva or godess kali as the other dinstinctive marks are not there for example both lord shiva and kali holds their trident, pot of fire , etc.. while performing this dance.. kali a garland of skull while lord shiva is in tiger skin..
