For growing the sticky green this system is bad, water culture will "drown" your plants. I suggest building an aeroponic system, much more efficient. Google it for plans. Otherwise good system
@zombiesatemybud "For growing the sticky green this system is bad, water culture will "drown" your plants." [sic]
sorry sweetheart, but your flat wrong, with good oxygenation, deep water culture is outstanding, massive root mass, massive plants.. DWC = all win, all day... or perhaps you think 12 oz from one plant is a bit too meager :D
lol f'n mcgyver lol thanks a long video for not much information, search for aquaponics and u come up with alot of information i dont usually post on things like this but i just felt that you wasted my time on this video and i would waste your time haveing you read this long ass comment on your long ass video
not a bad idea but i dont think its a good idea to use caulking, especially where the nutrient solution is,TOXIC!!! for you & plants just use the aquarium silicone its safe when dry.plus the styrofoam is chock full of bisphenal-a.i would just go with the tote bin system they work great and you can turn it into multiple systems at anytime and if you mess up take 5 bucks and grab another.hell,i found one last week in my dumpster lid & all, even clean! washed it anyway.happy ultraviolet dreams!!!
Nice hydroponics setup! Indeed, that's something that is very practical and easy to build. I would also recommend using black containers or tanks so there will be no need to cover the tanks to make it light tight.
Just dont be a dumbass, grow enough so you don't have to buy your own and thats it.1 400 watt HPS will do a QP every 2 months, thats like a 1/2 oz a week.
Here is one way to stay out of the eye of the Johnny law. Keep your electric usage low without losing any power. by doing so the computer will not register your home as HIGH POWER USE and have someone drive by???
How do you do this get a product called SURGEXPRO
Stupid video. The text is annoying and is covered up by the URL half the time. Ooh, now there's mood music. Okay, it's a slideshow...on a video site?!?!? Tard.
the only thing that matters is that light cannot enter at all, otherwise you can have growth in the tank that will damage roots and kill your plants. Foil works, it's just a pain in the ass to work with.
won't there be some nasty chemicals leeching from the styro into the water which then enters the plants which you then eat? I would like to know of a diferent 'holder' that is all natural -- like a clay board or something?
if growing things like lettuce you can cut the cost by putting little holes all over the styrofoam and inserting cotton balls with a lettuce seed in them. and instead of the fish tank and stuff to cover the sides one can get a rubber maid container. I have to give this video and extra star because it doesnt claim to be aeroponics.. this more of a water culture system.. and works great for plants that love lots of water, those that dont like alot of water can suffer...
This is kinda silly. This person had way to much time on their hands & no need for the plants. What were the plants anyway? What happens when try this with a toll heavy plant? Tomatoes start cute & tiny but will not work here, its a parsley planter, hahahaha
k now i got a question wouldn't a cooler be better then a fish tank because its easier to empty because all you got to do is take the cap off at the bottom and all the water leaves the tank.
didnt understand that answer REMIL. a storage container or cooler are lighttight. the plants are Always in water. Is this good? I'm gonna try Ray Schneider from GrowingEdges*com wick system. No pumps needed.
This is a floating garden. It's easy but only basil and salad like it, other plants do not like to have their roots constantly underwater. The system that works for the most types of plants is an ebb and flow system (google it) Another option is to have the nutrient solution slowly get pumped throught the plant pots filled with non-absorbing medium, and then fall back into the resevoir, but still this might be too wet for some plants. The ebb and flow is most versatile but also more complicated.
gonna hack my aerogarden with an extended light cord. Then put the light on some shelf brackets and just move the light and brackets up and the plant grows. buildeazy*com/shelf_bracket_channel*gif
i have had problem doing hydro with ghe flora 3 part nutrients. Are the standard application rates to weak for this stuff. I havn't got a ppm eccc meter. I haven't bothered checking ph at all ever just changed the nutirents weekly. MY leaves have started turning brown and dry at the tips and various locations. what could this be. I have herd the one part nutirents have produced morew reliable results as they are mixed profesionally and hoem equipment is too costy to mis well
next time do a video not a slide show....this is not as informative as ya think it is....i know what your sayin because i have some experience with dro systems but a beginner could not easily follow these instructions and build a dro system...good effort tho...
i think we need a little more info than that!!!maybe a little operation instruction rather than 1min on protective equip your not building a sand blaster!!
Allright look guys ive been looking on how to build a hydroponics system and the fact is that I can find anything on here or any where else so fuck this shit im buying a real one.AIm so fucking pissed of!!!!!
the aerogarden is expensive, and requires special refill pods to grow. I would much rather build my own, for about 30 bucks, than spend 100 on something that requires you to buy their refill pods.
AH! my mistake. its NOT aeroponics, its just a crude hydroponics system. aeroponics just basically constantly sprays (unless set with a timer) the roots with water utilizing a water pump and misters/spreaders.
Why use a glass aquarium then cover it? Just user a 5 gallon bucket ( that held food product, never toxic material like adhesive or paint ) and paint light tight with Fusion paint.
To much wrong with this!! All I can say is " SHYTE"

Blue board insulation is an extruded polystyrene. You're more likely to have Bisphenol-A in the plastic tote.

yes.. yes they do, that's why you put nutrients into the water, and maintain the correct PH so as not to lock out any of said nutrients :)

cant you just put tin foil around the tank instead? Or is that less efficient..
