  • Definitely not a classic, but far better than anything I ever hear played nowadays. Now the Party Rock Anthem... that's what I call musical torture.

  • Better than anything Adele or U2 or Bruce Springsteen or Bob Dylan ever did

  • This is what coke does to you!

  • Awful.

  • Beginning of the end of Disco?!?!?

  • LOL

  • that song was nr 1 when I was born

  • I like the girl that looks into the camera at 01:08 and goes "Seriously, they are FILMING this shit?!"

  • Surely the low point of the lowest point (1976) in pop. Dunno whether to laugh or cry ...

  • @paulkirkwood well and what about today the smurfs sing too even made more than a couple of albums and the muppet show is back on the big screen

  • This was the pits of music in '76, all I can say is thank goodnes for the Sex Pistols changing the music scene!!!!!

  • If I ever was going to torture anybody I'd lock them in a small room with each wall being a giant TV and I'd just play this video over and over and over and over... and over... until they strangled themselves.

  • The cat is from Jacksonville Florida, the same city who produced the laughing stock Jacksonville Jaguars, go figure.

  • This is so fucking tacky, cheesy, stupid, lame ass, idiotic, a national shame, a scar, a sad stament of American culture and its decline! I must have it on my ipod so I can shake my butt!

  • The late 1970's at its absolutely cheesist and tackiest "glory".....for some reason this clip reminds me of the "Space Casino scences" from the 1978 Battlestar Galactica telemovie

  • My god, I had this on 45 when I was a kid.

  • like if Anders Ekwing brught you here!

  • duck youre our bathroom ?

  • ......

  • WTF was that? Oo

  • This song is my response to anyone who says that old music is infinitely better.

  • wtf

  • I love this song <33

great respect for the people in the clip =D

wonder how he thought of it hmmmm..

  • lol

  • I feel sorry for everyone involved with this video....

  • "Millions of people brought this recond back in '76. Unbelievable. It just goes to show you, its just so far up thier ass, all they know is shit." Scott Ian.

Anyway, how much cocaine did Rick Dees and his producers use to come up with this shit?

  • .................................

  • This is a such a hoot! I mean, ducks can't disco. Pure craziness!

  • The duck was doing heroin at 1:28

  • The Disco Duck died of a cocaine overdose back in 1982.

  • WTF was Rick Dees smoking/dropping/drinking when he thought writing/singing this was a good idea???

  • How embarrassing for all involved.

  • Dr Demento classic

  • And to think people still doubt that Jesus was brought from the dead after seeing that something like this actually happened in our life time. Please...PLEASE, never again. Not one of the high points in human advancement but we can still learn the lessons, can't we?

  • tops of the poops?

  • The 70's must have been hell.

  • Ooohhh the Mushroom hairstyle crisis...

  • I'm only watching cause Todd mentioned it in one video.

    Man, this is terrible.

  • @CrystalJupiter Obviously not because of the top comment! You're a fail at trying to get thumbs up XD

  • @kyry6045 What? I just said that the only reason I searched and watched this was because he featured it in a top 10 worst songs list.

I don't care about thumbs-up, I was just commenting on why I put myself through this torture.

  • @CrystalJupiter I was talking about the first part of the comment i don't care about if you think it's terrible.

  • @kyry6045 So....watching because he mentioned it is fishing for comments? What about my original comment was a fail?

  • You'd have to be on quack to like this.

And I can't see the other comments, so if nobody else said this, there is no hope for humanity.

  • couldnt handle the disco duck at 0:56 so he jizzed himself

  • Oh...my...stars...and...garters...! Dancing ducks! Now I've seen everything! :)

  • Rick ages as fast as Dick Clark!

  • @maspow2 I'd be nervous too, -Oh fuck, my friends are going to see me dancing with a man in a flippin duck suit-

  • Mon dieu ...

  • ive heard a sample of this song in some song but i cant put my finger on what song it is

  • Ah the 70's, so pure and perfect before those tacky and tasteless 80's.

  • @Darkiver dont forget the hairspray and shoulder pads!!!!:) *damn guess i need more repression thearpy*:)

  • Did you guys know it's the same Duck voice from Tom & Jerry XD

  • I can imagine this in Soul Train, those weird duck mascots of RIcky D's would be quackin der asses around

  • You think this is weird? Check out the Bic Banana commercial that Charles Nelson Reilly did. Now that's weird.

  • @enigma800 Check out ANYTHING that Charles Nelson Reilly did. Now THAT'S weird!

  • The only Disco Duck I like is the one with orange sauce !

  • "Try your luck; don't be a cluck." What a monumentally insipid song! Get a load out of those goose costumes being pressed into service as "duck" costumes. Did the show borrow them from a local theater company performing "Mother Goose"? I love the windows in their necks.

  • Rick Sleeze! I used to watch him on the wally george show in the 80's. Wally would kick his butt every time lol.

  • Whatever they paid those guys in the duck costumes... it wasn't enough.

  • Disco Duck!

  • Like if Todd in the Shadows brought you here!!! :D

  • @donnabrutta Who's Todd in the shadows? Is he a skit on TV or something?

  • when I was like 4 I listened to this song in the car when I went to my dad's house every other weekend. :3

  • Why punk rock happened.

  • @mayakane

    Loooool...nice one!

  • Why does he say "Got to have me a WOMAN" if he's a just a duck anyway?

  • @sweetredredwine ... maybe because "There's no stopping a duck and his beak" ?

  • who agrees this is better than bieber?

oh how we love the 70's.

  • just seen this on beeb 4 look back at TOTP 1976.

  • perfect example of why disco was a black eye to the music industry!!!

  • Drugs

  • When I saw this as a kid and those duck people appeared dancing, I literally could not sleep for nights.

  • @HenryvKeiper Nice remark!

I ran away from school when I heard Happy New Year by ABBA - so beautiful the song seemed to me.

Poor children, ) impressed by songs like that, were you happy with thise people or scared of them?

  • @Phioletovii Ha ha well at the time it was mostly the people in duck outfits that freaked me out (along with the duck singing "Oh mama, shake your tail feather!"). As an adult I appreciate the song a little bit more :)

  • Rick, can you post your "singing chickens" from your Memphis morning radio show?

  • this man is a genius

  • oh my gosh, this song crack's me up!!!

  • You know what would have made this better? Burt Reynolds.

  • as a kid the song was cool now @ 39 rick dees was on some crack or something!!

  • Yeah, it's supposed to be a silly novelty song, but damn. Super embarassing, no? Notice the mortified looks on the faces of some of the kids in the audience.

  • Damn you hidden Los Angeles!! lol

  • @fighter2050 its freakin' hilarious that you picked up on that!

  • What's up with the 70's porno mustache?

  • @TheKob1977 lmao!!!!

  • Surreal!

  • Could that be the late Clarence 'Ducky' Nash doing the duck voice?

  • SHOOT THE DUCK !

  • Somebody asked whatever happened to Rick Dees after this song: this song is what happened. Simply awful song here and the video is even worse. Unbelievable it made no.1 on the charts. Besides Olivia Newton John's "You Light Up My Life", this song has to rank in the top 5 worst songs of all-time.

  • @TheKob1977

A slight error on your part, TheKob1977: There were 2 women who recorded "You Light Up My Life", but Olivia Newton-John was neither one of them. A young lady named Casey Cyzik sang it on the sound track in the movie of the same name. Debbie Boone recorded the version of "You Light Up My Life" that was played on the radio.

  • Debbie Boone did You Light up My Life; Not Olivia

  • @honeythief typo there, they are one int he same though

  • it's cute & imaginative ~

  • Did this song kill disco Or did the Urban Cowboy

do that? We did not need the Chipmonk Punk

  • @Rollman1 "Disco Duck" happened towards the beginning of the disco fad (1976), so I don't think you could say it killed disco, unless maybe it was a slow poison. "Urban Cowboy" had nothing whatsoever to do with disco, except that the movies "Urban Cowboy" and "Saturday Night Fever" had the same star (John Travolta) All in all, I think it would be more accurate to say that disco killed disco.

  • @A1l2l2e2n4 I liked Disco dancing it was nicer then the twist or the frog or the jerk

When that song came out the Red Necks at work started to call me the Disco Duck

thank god it did not last. I don't remember ever hearing it in 1976. and i agree with TheKob1977 It was an awful song

  • @Rollman1

"Disco Duck" was rather silly, I won't quarrel with you on that. As for the chronology, "Disco Duck" attracted a LOT of attention around Memphis (where I lived at the time) in the late summer & mid-fall of 1976 because it was released by a local deejay. The station where he worked @ the time, WMPS, fired him for promoting his own material on the air.

  • there was anothetr tv appearence in the early 80's where he had the audience leave and he didnt have a moustache-check out the other releases "Hurt Me Baby, Make Me Write Bad Checks", "Put It Where the Moon Don't Shine" , "I'm Not Crazy" & CANDID PHONE!!! especally "Michael Jackson"

  • From Leo Sayer Album Big Days Of Leo Sayer

  • Rick Dees may have tried to kill disco, but it looks like disco outlived his talkshow. How many people still remember "Heeey, that's great...." ?

  • Gotta love the looks on his face between lines.

  • I was expecting Donald Duck and maybe cartoon animated. Who the heck is this duck???

  • GREAT SONG>>>LOVE IT.

  • I LOVE Rick Dees and the Disco Duck!!!

  • Calle it silly, stupid, idiot and all the names in the book but this song with the time became a real legend and one of the real icons of the Disco Era I remember heard this song for first time back in El Salvador in November 1976 on my way to a nice weekend to the beach since then I love it and even my wife and kids who don't belong to that time love it.

I wonder whatever happened to Rick Dees?

  • omg this is really.....uhhh...interesting.. xD

  • OH MY GOD!!!!And people wonder why we were drunk all the time during the disco fiasco, err I mean era.lol

  • Why am I watching this? What the heck was I looking for, how did I get on here? Ah the seventys were nuts. lol

  • @cleanandoftenseen roflmao, my sentiments exactly

  • @cleanandoftenseen

I also feel lost and disoriented after watching this. think ill go sit in a corner somewhere

  • oh mama, shake your pill fanna, hef hef hef hef

  • great disco song.....

  • fuck that duck

  • What a shitty looking duck.

  • Me I like it... so ugly !

  • On one hand, this is quite possibly the most bizarre thing I have ever witnessed.

On the other hand, it's extremely kickass. Just a bunch of people having fun dancing to a man who sounds like Donald Duck.

  • rick dees in this video looks like my late brother joel

    btw:

my brother passed away in 2003 but was a fan of this song.

  • @billiefan2000 R.I.P Your brother had a great ear for melody then!

  • @billiefan2000 RIP Joel

  • ROFLMAO

  • why was this song so popular?. to quote scott ian of anthrax: sometimes peoples heads are so far up their ass, all they know is shit

  • approprite quote from him, too bad he he doesnt take it to more seriously ;)

people like it cause it is fun, i am no disco fan to be honest, but this song makes me smile :)

  • ahahaha yay

  • This song is the best example of the worst of the 70s!

  • Yeah, no wonder cocaine use went up. "Make it stop! Arghhhh!"

  • Wow. Really?

You had to go off the deep end there, eh?

It's just a song, get over it. Sheesh.

  • christ...

  • thatttss mahh grandfatherrrrrr.

  • Calm down, homeboy25327.

Like geez, a stuffed duck didn't say anything about your damned president.

    Calm the hell down.

  • Yeah homeboy25327 in 1976, when Obama was 15, Rick Dees predicted that 33 years later he'd become president so he put anti-Obama messages into his song.

  • You can't be serious.

  • Man, stop smoking shit!, how he hell it's going to say something negative about Obama a song made in the 70's, Obama was 15 when this was made!

  • Homboy 25327.. you just want attention (lame attention at that) end of story! Of course, I guess you're getting it. See, the rest of us just TASTED paste as kids. You obviously indulged.

  • what da FUCK did dat fuckin duck say about Obama?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

FUCK HIM if he said something disparging about our president!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dude, you need like to take a chill pill or something. This is what is exactly wrong with society today, people are on pins and needles over everything. Taking stuff too much to heart. You don't like it, don't watch it. Don't like that music, change the channel....It's that easy folks!

  • Ahem... the duck says "mama", not "Obama". Clean your ears and try again.

  • WOW This is funny!

I'm so used to Rick Dees as the radio DJ on the Rick Dees Top 40 Countdown.

It was a shocker for me that he was the voice of Rocket Rick Ragnarok on the Jetsons Movie, and now this? Wow, you do learn something new everyday! ^_^ HAHA!

  • This is soooo silly!

First I heard of Rick Dees!

When will this music come back?!

Im into old music aka beatles

  • They should use this @ the poison control center to induce vomiting.

Seriously though, I loved this when I was 8 years old.

  • Triple scoop of mallardian awesomeness

  • Damn! Is that really Rick Dees, the same Rick Dees D.J. doing L.A.'s 93.9 Grooving Radio Station, singing along-side the Disco Duck?! HAAAHHH! That's too damn funny!

  • Wow, that came as a surprise, thought the singer was a black guy(voice).
