However, the aztec strength is measured in physical power and agillity on the battlefield. Although we aztecs didn't know the armor or the cannons, almost drove the invasion back, until we were betrayed by our own blood. @99cacahuate no, i dont think its that either. i think i have to look more into it....i think it was techochcas. i think that was what other tribes and civilizations called them at the time and i think they referred themselves as mexicas because their main god was called by(starts with an h, but im not going to type the name because i cant spell it, but i think that god was also called Mexitli or something, but of course i probably spelled that wrong too)

@pikamexel well even mexicas were all over central mexico, here in my state of guerrero mexicas had many names like mixtecos, ocuiltecos, otomis, chatinos, chichimecas and chochos just to mention a few...the other states had their own mexica tribes too...i will update you with your question soon.. saludos...y paz.......

@cadillacdan90 the spanish advance in tech did have a egde to it though..for ex the aztec "sword" was wood and some..i belive it was a special type of stone? im not sure..but if a spanish soilder would to block with his iron sword..the aztec weapon would simply shadder and become useless..but all in all it was the neighboring tribes that did lead to the fall of the aztec empire.

@ofooey volcanic glass called obsidian and wood, as you say its definitely no match for iron swords. the only civilization that got to metal casting were the tarascans(Purepechas) from the state of Michoacán, they actually wielded copper weapons, but again, they chose the foreign side and joined the spaniards because they had always been invaded by the mexicas(with those copper weapons we kicked them out time and time again)

This is the reason Cortes was able to form alliances with so many Natives who together were against "Aztecs" (Mexica). My advice, study history more often and accurately!

The reason Cortez reached the stronghold so quickly was because of the slave, bitch Malinche that didn't like her owners and it caused the Aztecs their Empire. My advice, study MY history more often and accurately!
