I think John shows his disdain for being in DD at that time. Not saying it isn't possible that he was dunk or high, but if you look at his interviews when he went solo he was soo much happier.

John was as high as a kite and had the best seliing album of his entire career that year ...so no reason to feel "disdain" since he left in 97'....4 long years after such lame interview.

@ranaprieta i think hes unappy as john taylor did not perfrom in the recording or the writing of ordinary world or come undone so effectvley jt had no musical input to duran durans most successful commercial work and probably their most recoghised critically and i guess he is pissed coz hes in the band from the start...who woullndt? maybe he aint as good as he thinks and realised it

I understand the anger at MTV John mentions, but there's no getting around the fact that even many hard core fans didn't stick around because we were underwhelmed by DD's music for long stretch there. This album was a welcome change for the positive in 1993.

Taylor at the start seems to be either drunk, drugged up or just stupid. What a waste esp from someone who is usually coherent and funny. Stay away from the coke kids.
