Not saying "fake" or "gay", but in Black or death metal the difficulty is in playing this technique loudly enough. I'm not even a drummer and can do it when it's triggered. Try playing a whole song properly with acoustic drums.

@QAeternus Exactly, same problem with the push-pull, a similar technique but without the help of the rim, only with hands and fingers using the bounce... Still, in my opinion, the push-pull is more loud than the gravity blast and easier to hear with an acoustic kit... Well, triggers are simply necessary with super fast drumming, nothing wrong with them...
