Really very melodious song. We can listen this song whole day. The whole song is absolute beautiful. One of the marvelous & melodious song. Amazing song. Really beautiful music & team work. Gr8
@sad2red You are right. Because the lyrics are rich in visual metaphors for love - love in the form of wind and light embracing mountains, forests, rivers and trees. And at each stanza those metaphors link with "unki nigahon ke saaye". Lata's voice wafts like a joyful fairy over the landscape and Jaidev's music prances discreetly behind. Yes, you must close your eyes to see all this!
my salutes 2 gr8 jaidev 4 giving such a melodious gem. lata ji words fail me 2 speak abt her talents. i saw this movie long ago. i think satish kaul & rehana sultan were the lead pair & satish kaul plays the role of forest guard who gets in love with rehana who is already married with an old man. thanx 4 the melodious upload.
By the way, the usual audio version available on CDs omits the last antara. That was the practice in those days to truncate a song to fit the playing time of a 78 rpm record........
This moviet is not available anywhere. I was told that the producer of film saying even the negatives of this film got badly damaged and now there is no possibility of getting vdo of this movie.
This song written by: Jan Nisar Akhtar (1914-1976).
His father Muztar Khairabadi, wrote "Na kisiki aankh ka noor hoon" AND " Lagta nahin hai dil mera " but most people think these two are written by Bahadur Shah Zafar, which is not true.
Deepak, dear friend,by uploading such gems you and others with exquisite tastes are depriving me of much sleep; I can't get off my computer until my family drags me away from it! What a joy to listen to your latest upload-- the amrit-like voice of Lataji and the silkiest way she glides up and down the high and low notes as always. The last time I heard this melody was probably in the 1970 on an MIT radio program. Many thanks.
And I should add that songs like this one only deepen my appreciation for Jaidev . He, Ravi, Chitragupta and several other composers don't always get the compliments that they deserve, being always overshadowed by greater legends.
I absolutely agree. We were so fortunate in having them AND the great ones as well. This song is a delectable masterpiece. The tune, singing, instruments, orchestration, the lyric - all just combine perfectly! The song really takes me back to the time I spent in Himachal Pradesh............pure magic!
perhaps the best song of lataji.what a hunting song.

The only way to appreciate this song is to listen it to it with eyes closed so that the pleasure received from it is not tainted by our vision

Jaidev also finished off "Laila Majnu" after the untimely death of it's original music director Madan Mohan.

Here in Chicago it's raining for last two days and I just remember this song and in search I got this!
Music by Jaidev Verma...he was classical musician.
Remember him in "hum dono" and mujhe jine do" the best of the best...

and he is father of Javed Akhtar.
So to me the wording is soo poweful.
