  • The acting wasn't very good. ..

  • lame

  • didn't like this show, house for sale, lease, rent! House for FREE!!!

  • Cousin Zachariah that is shown at the door and goes upstairs to get the trunk is actor Alan Napier.

He played Alfred the Butler in the 1960's Batman tv show.

  • godd episode . american gothic with a dash of lovecraft.

  • poor girl married to a pruney old fart who cant even afford coco! thats way creepier than any demonic trunk!

  • This wasn't quite as scary as I thought it'd be. Still good, though.

  • @NaiTaiDai for a 70`s US TV series, it was effective, considering movies like "the Dunwich horror" was at cinemas then, more eerie that scary. However, I would have long been gone before they did personally!! someone got in my bed in the night and roughed me up I wouldn't be sleeping in it the next night, coco or not!!!!!

  • 4:08 lol they looked crazy if i was those kids i would have ran

  • this is like a 70's version of paranormal activity

  • This ghostly note will self destruct in THREE...TWO...ONE!

  • ooohhhhh despite the bad acting' the guy just could not move on without his porn collection

  • oooooohhhhh despite the bad acting' the guy just could not move on without his porn collection

  • oooooohhhhh

  • Remember folks the secret to any great marriage is of course,... hot cocoa, lol.

  • Batman's butler Alan Napier of course. I am glad it had a happy ending - sort of. I suppose if you rented the house you just have to put up with Uncle Zac's visit. Least you would know when he drops by LOL

  • Great classic Tv, i cant remember the last time when i had a dead relative come knock on my door and just ask for a "trunk"...lol..

Oh hey...its just counsin Zack...he's back from the dead...he jusat just wants his trunk is all honey....dont be alarmed!!.....hahaha!!.....goood stuff!!!

  • i remember one movie , where a group of reserchers or friends came to an old house and the cook says she cannot stay here in the dark and when night came she left on foot away from the house....turns out the house was hunted by the owner who killed and enslaved children but now was in spirit and still captivated the ghostly children....

  • @KAZZTHECAT you mean 'the haunting' ?..

  • @evilgr44 am not sure...i watched it long time ago...ehehhe, the house they went to was an old catle....and there was a big mysterious clock....and i think one victim was smashed into bits, by the moving thing!!!!

  • Not a particularly well acted episode

  • when he was comforting his wife and said 'the trunk' i thought he said 'so drunk'.

  • @llust haha me too!

  • when he said 'the trunk' when comforting his wife... i thought he said your drunk.

  • Should have been called either house of halloween or the Devil's trunk or just the tunk but oh well this shit is awsome. It is like my favorite kid show called Are you afraid of hte dark only darker and scarier.

  • Lol, while the girls screaming, hes just like "I just want the goddamn trunk"

  • I FART scarier than this. What a waste of time.

  • @shoegooguru your comment is a bigger waste of time....and space---ASSHOLE

  • Old fashion horror series..... Whereas Twhilight Zone showed that Sterling was a ahead of it´s time showing so much creativity and talent even now it´s a timeless classic, NIght Gallery is simply horror tales like many series in those days that died in the seventies....

  • @TheAllegro85

nevetheless it has some outstanding episodes and is at least better than both of the TZ revival shows ever were.

  • Thanks for posting it!

  • hey, it's that trunk I bought yesterday. o wait

  • I've come for my trunks... that's why there was someone in bed with her...

  • Yes. I agree with "stinkalloy" this episode did remind me of a "lose" story line for THE SHINING. That cute blonde is Barbara Anderson. She also appeared in a STAR TREK episode, (to answer "tjxk7" question).

  • @MrChristian326 That is the same thing I was thinking only no kid with a multiple personality, no giant ass hotel that is haunted and no long frozen scenes.

  • @MrChristian326 You forgot about "Ironside". It went downhill after she left it.

  • Rod Serling is the voice of my nightmares. When I heard him speak as a kid the hair would bristle on the back of my neck and I'd get all-body shudders that nearly made me piss my pants. And that was before the show even started. Why I watched this when I was growing up, I have no idea. Living on the end of a dark dead end street in a 100 year old creaky house didn't help much with the scream dreams either.

  • this has to be the only tv show to ever scare the crap out of me

  • The second trunk was a different trunk, nobody seemed to notice.

  • Anyone know the name of the gorgeous blonde actress here? I see her in a lot of movies.

  • Good episode, albeit a bit over-acted by the main characters.

  • This is so "The Shining" - years before "Heeeeeeere's Johnnnyyyy!!!!"

  • Why is he gonna come back for the trunk again?

  • That was so completely NOT scary that it has about closed my mind to the possibility that anything in this entire series ever was.

  • What was the first story from the episode?

  • not sure what you mean

  • Each episode contained two stories.

  • I'm not sure season 3 does though.

  • those little kids are like "WTF"

  • I liked the ratman-human hybred monster in Pickman's model better than the walking corpse in this one.

  • Larry Watson as the 'Longhair'

  • why didn't the ghost just take the trunk now, instead of coming back in a year?

  • @foppa123

Um ... good question? Why did he bother to show up only to leave a note announcing he'd be back in a year for the trunk?!

  • Night Gallery 70's weirdness, I guess.

  • fake laugh at 4:19

  • the kids were like "wtf"? all we want is candy.

  • they sure were!

  • not scary enough

  • it is 1973 remember; I like it.

  • 1972 actually.

  • ive come for the trunk!

  • If I were her, I would have been very leery of my husband after meeting his relatives.

  • i like the dark and grainy footage from this series.

  • What the hell was that all about?

  • HEY! I just rented that place last week on with a one year lease!!!

  • You're screwed now!! LOL!! ^_^

  • You could make some bucks giving tours to Rod Serling buffs! :O

  • Why did they have to doll up Stuart Whitman to look younger? Why didn't they just get a younger actor, if that's what they wanted?

  • "In this household cocoa is a staple!" Damn straight it is! Yay cool episode! ^_^

  • hey the zombie at the end was Alfred the Butler off the Adam West campy Batman series of the 60s!!! What a classic!!!

"I've come for the trunk!!!" Hahahahah!

    Lovely stuff!

    Ade

  • I remember this Night Gallery Episode when I was about 11 years old, and this one really scared me.

I still love watching this series today. You can see Night Gallery on the Retro network, or "Chiller" channels on cable TV.

The thing I like best about horror from this era is that it more psychological and fear of the unknown, plus the actors were very talented.

Barbara Anderson was really great, and so is Night Gallery!! Enjoy.

  • LOL....if the ghost had shown up at MY door after seeing the two kids "Trick or Treating", I'd have tossed it a 3 Musketeers bar and slammed the door in his face! LOL! Coming after the same trunk every Halloween?? That ghost'd better be ponying up some rent for storage!

  • is it iggnorant of me to ask, what was in the trunk ?

  • Don't mess with man's cocoa

  • this reminds me of the song the thing

  • In terms of storyline this is pretty rubbish but by seventies tv standards it's pretty good. I enjoyed it in all its cheesy seventies glory. Not as good as Twilight Zone though.

  • 70's, hell! Compared to the garbage that's called horror today, this is nirvana!

  • There are actually some good horror movies now. The problem is that crap like "Prom Night (2008)" gets through, and we have to sit through a gore-less horror film with plot holes up the ass, cliches through and through and a bunch of obnoxious 14 year old girls screaming their heads off whilst simultaneously texting their friend in the next seat to tell her how "scary" the movie is....

Sorry I go off on rants often.

  • Don'[t feel bad. Horror has gotten so bad, they're remaking the old shit. The last half-decent horror flick was Hostel - and that won't survive two or three more sequels. This Series opener, the movie was the s#!t! I know you saw the movie. I loved the mental and psychologiocal end of NG. I'm gonna buy it after I post this comment. Enjoy!

  • theres too much gore in horror movies nowadays

they rely too much on that aspect

  • Hostel? My god, that was a dumb statement.

  • twilight zone is the pinnacle of horror and thriller fictions

  • as old-fashioned as this is --- this is AWESOME !!!!

i love it! messed right up ! the trick-or-treaters & their reaction is pure GOLD

& that woman's face & voice make me happy.....

  • Tha Trunk!

    I come for the Trunk!

    Tha Trunk of Funk!!

  • any terry pratchett fans will find this episode amusing lol

  • She is beautiful, looks like a Miss America winner.

  • In High School, Mrs. Barbara Anderson was voted Miss Memphis in high school. She was half a vote away for representing Miss Tennessee for the Miss America Pagent back in the mid sixties......Oh, and she also won an Emmy Award.

  • i'm SO glad i can watch these again on youtube! cant find 'em on tv anywhere!

  • Remember, ladies, your main responsibilities include cooking for your man and always having cocoa on hand. Never run out, or else...

  • ran out of rations !!!!

i want my cocoa now too !!

    damn it!

  • Who hit the cricket switch?

  • This looks like a The Shining to me.

Writer in the house who subsequently going to be mad, his wife, and that conversation between them, before kids arrived, very similar.

  • I don't get it. What the hell? Explain the ending please.

  • There was something really bad in the trunk..probably Zacariahs body or something. They decided to move out because they realized tehy would have to wait another year before the trunk (and its evil) were gone.

  • Now that is "one" attractive woman!

  • Got that right. Barbara Anderson is absolutely radiant!

  • Oh yeah,(forgetful tone)it's HALLOWEEN!

    har!

  • i've come for the trunk!

  • I was born in 1961 and watched Night Gallery at 10-11 yrs. old Scary stuff

  • Thats Alfred from Batman I think

Guess batman reruns werent payin enough!

  • that pan was hot as hell! i warn thee!LOL!

  • don't open a box if you know what it really contains.

  • Thanks! Say, do you have any more Night Gallery episodes you could post?
