In fact, in her time she was voted the second-cutest anime girl, with the first place occupied by Catty from Gall Force (both ladies courtesy of Kenichi Sonoda).
Definitely written with Blade Runner in mind, but they took a lot of the styling from another movie called "Streets of Fire". Watch the trailer on imdbDOTcom and you will know what I mean.
One of the first anime I saw, rented from Blockbuster back in like 1995 with other great titles like Orguss and Guyver and Ninja Scroll and Akira. The whole scene was so different back then.
this was the tip of the iceberg for me, the first anime i ever wached. bought the shit on vhs by ordering it from animeeigo in the mail. the good ol days where finding anime was a treasure hunt
@fredricoiglesias Bubblegum Crisis is why I like Anime and motorcycles now. I literally stumbled onto the series in Hollywood Video and had to watch it.
@Buretsu Add-on. The shape of the Genom tower was inspired by the one in Bladerunner, Leon and Priss are named after replicants and her on stage design is almost an exact copy of the way Priss looked in the movie.
I really liked this AMV you did and the audio quality is worth having on mp3! I forgot how hott Priss is in that wig and how much I love this song~ =]
It's sad though that such a proliffic series will forever be known for having a really horrible dub. I mean look up the English version of this song to see what I mean. The voice acting sounded really bland and bored, the English version of this song fails to capture the intensity of this song.
holy shit! i remember being hooked on this song soo much i took my tape player put it by the tv cranked up the volume and recorded the song over and over just to blast it in my car haha! the good old days =)
I did the same thing as you in 87' when it first came out on vhs. The times have change today because now I have all the songs on mp3. Life is sweet now that technology has gotten better- labelashavoc (:~>?=
Reika Chuaying: Brillliantly done. Thank you very much for this version. It sounds GREAT and I especially like seeing the Knight Sabres in action as you portrayed them here. fwiw, although I love both this and the english versions, I prefer this one but I have no idea why.
with all the utterly silly stuff getting millions of hits on youtube, it's a shame to see this awesome piece of classic anime get a meager 2200 views. Guess that says quite a bit about the majority of youtube users.
And yes, this video rocks, just as most of Bubblegum Crisis does :)
Well I will have to watch this a lot more to make the views go way up. And yes this does rock big time. Go to the website "Soundtracks Homepage" Click "b" and scroll down till you reach Bubblegum Crisis. You can listen to all the BGC music for free. There are times when you get get into it. Try it another time when that happens.
This song is my favorite in the Bubblegum Crisis series. I love Kinuko Oomori's voice, she really shined as Priss. Bubblegum Crisis is the series that brought me to love cyberpunk anime.
I completely agree with you. I have been watching this since it first came out in the eighties. It is so much better in Japanese. I can even understand it without the subtitles.
Try watching -The Blade Runner. You will understand what I mean.
They should have added the intro part to the original soundtrack of Konya wa Hurricane. It makes an awesome combination.

If you look at 2:18, you can see clear homage to Blade Runner since Priss's band is named after the Replicants.

@thrashmetalfiend priss was the name of the replicant played by darrly hanna.

I don't think so... I'm a pretty big fan of Blade Runner... but I haven't really checked it closely.

I wonder if any part of the intro was inspired by Bladerunner. It has a similar feeling.
NobbyKNobbs 1 year ago
@NobbyKNobbs The series itself is heavily influenced by Blade Runner. Just look at Priss's band: Priss and the Replicants.
