The cop was fired. But not for pushing the man on the bike. He was fired because he claimed that the man attacked him by trying to crash into him with his bike. He also claimed that the guy was resisting arrest. Than this video was released and everybody learned the truth. The cop made a false report and that's why he was fired. its possible that the cyclist did something wrong b/c all u see is the cop, not the cyclist until he/she comes into view. something could have happened out of view. the cop should have just told the cyclist to stop or move over (like when u pull a car over) b/c u cannot always just immediately STOP on a bike. but the cop didnt say anything. kind of a dick thing to do on the cops part. if the cyclist flipped someone off, that'd still be no reason to push them off like that.

Officer Patrick Pogan was placed on administrative duties, resigned, was charged and convicted for filing a criminal complaint that contained false statements but acquitted of perjury and reckless assault. He was conditionally discharged with no community service or fine.

@bobmedcigg Agreed, although whatever it was he did I can't see that it would warrant such violence. The only circumstances under which violence is the answer is in response to violence, and while he may have insulted the officer (flipped the bird for example), violence wouldn't help the situation as it would in the mind of the cyclist only confirm his belief that cops are assholes - I'm not religious but as Jesus put it "turn the other cheek". Thumbs up on reserving judgment! :)

The cop was fired. But not for pushing the man on the bike. He was fired because he claimed that the man attacked him by trying to crash into him with his bike. He also claimed that the guy was resisting arrest. Than this video was released and everybody learned the truth. The cop made a false report and that's why he was fired. He was a rookie who had just finished police training. He killed his own career. I bet he's a janitor now :).

its possible that the cyclist did something wrong b/c all u see is the cop, not the cyclist until he/she comes into view. something could have happened out of view. the cop should have just told the cyclist to stop or move over (like when u pull a car over) b/c u cannot always just immediately STOP on a bike. but the cop didnt say anything. kind of a dick thing to do on the cops part. if the cyclist flipped someone off, that'd still be no reason to push them off like that.

The Critical Mass cyclist was arrested, charged with assaulting a police officer and was acquitted mainly due to this video. Officer Patrick Pogan was placed on administrative duties, resigned, was charged and convicted for filing a criminal complaint that contained false statements but acquitted of perjury and reckless assault.
