Thanks. Never got to see it without Ellen. Sounds like Vic Perrin of Outer Limits' control voice fame as narrator. So soothing and surreal. Not annoying like Bill Nye. They should have dialed him way back. If only they'd let one of the dinos take him out. Due for a re-make.
@Tonytambe But what makes the original version stand out and above the Ellen version is that the original version wasn't purpousely trying to be cutesy or somewhat funny all the way through it. When it comes to funny attractions, Ellen's UofE could never compare to the quick-witted and wickedly funny 'Timekeeper' show that was over at the Magic Kingdom back then. Ellen, Bill Nye & Alex Trebeck tried to be funny in the Ellen version of UofE but I'm afraid the comedy just didn't work.
@century3horizons I was born in 1995 so I never saw the original version. EPCOT was always my favorite park when we flew from Cali, I was always fascinated with technology and ill-faded visions of the future from a past generation.
Tomorrow land by contrast feels Retro and more Nostalgic than anything.
"This energy is never destroyed, nor is new energy created".
If only more people in the world went on this ride. There wouldn't be so many con artists successfully selling people physically impossible "free energy" nonsense.
I also want to say thank you so much for posting this! The only thing I wish was here was the very beginning of the preshow when the Exxon tiger was running toward you and its eyes flashed and became the centers of the two Xs in Exxon! Then the title "Universe of Energy" came forward behind in a semicircular shape radiating out the energy. I always thought that was awesome!
Replacing "The Universe of Energy" with "Ellen's Energy Adventure" was no less than a crime against humanity. I used to live in Florida and went to EPCOT the very first day it opened and The Universe of Energy was always my favorite ride. I was absolutely appalled the last time I was there and saw the new show. I vowed never to return to EPCOT again.
Thanks for uploading this - I loved watching the Radok screen show. The Ellen show is awful. I'm glad I got to see the original Epcot a few times before they dumbed it down. RIP Dreamfinder and Journey into Imagination, Kitchen Cabaret, and even Cranium Command which I see was closed when we visited in March.
@rohirrim11rider Well, it's certainly not as serious, but it's not bad for people who don't remember the original. I've been going to Walt Disney World since 1992, and I have no memories about this original show. I remember the original Spaceship Earth ride, and bits and pieces of the original Imagination ride, but nothing about this ride.
@Angie2343 Actually, they did. I'm sorry that you're part of the current mediocrity-loving generation that is perfectly okay with the loss of the imagination and innovation that EPCOT Center once represented. The ride was diminished to a fraction of its original greatness when Ellen became part of it.
They already repainted the exterior this year. Does this mean we should expect a make over inside this pavilion? I hope so. I'm sick of it being a comedy show...
This is one of the few rides I rember from 88 when I was a kid. my parents couldn't get me off this ride mainly due to the dinosaurs

We still haven't been on this ride yet. We started to go on it earlier today but they had technical difficulties and we had to evacuate.

The original ride closed in 1996 not 1997.

They should have kept the animatronic ellen out of the dinosaur area. it used to be a more surreal and realistic area.

Ellen's Energy Adventure is one of my favorite attractions at Epcot. While the Radok screen was cool, the content that is on it is what matters.

The current version of Universe of Energy is aweful. I wish Disney would do something about it...

@Supermassively Lemme rephrase that...ONLY Ellen killed it, but Alex is awesome. (I'm a Jeopardy fan; I recently watched the Watson match.)

@rohirrim11rider well, as a 12 year old boy with A.D.D., i say the ellen version is more entertaining
