  • @purrfectoo and @mixednutsms nobody gives a damn about your silly ass opinion. If you don't like her music or you have doubts about who would have married her (lol millions would), then don't listen to her music and don't worry your "pretty little head" about the marriage thing. LMFAO at the both of you!!

  • RIP

  • JunkXAttack yes he was!!! Take the time to watch his biography lol he esp loved acid, this is common knowledge

  • My Sister idolized and used to dress like her. She was a helluva singer.

  • Janis sure did turn this Kris Kristofferson tune into her OWN

  • Hermosa canción

  • @purrfectoo

Jimi Hendrix wasn't a drug addict. So, before you say something that makes you sound stupid you should probably know your musicians a little better.

  • perfection!

  • NUTHIN' BUT WOW.....

  • This might just be The best thing on the Youtubes.

  • To me Janis Joplin is the most talented woman of all time she was real like me I only wish i could have been here to meet her or just stand a mile away in the rain at woodstock frm BRANDY

  • I hate how people idolize drug addicts just because they have a talent. Yes she could sing, so what, I be she still would do indecent things to get her drug. Having talent does not make her a hero.

Same goes for Jimi Hendrix. Both losers

  • @purrfectoo should know that people with drug habits sometimes make poor choices...with fatal impact. Either way, Janis and Jimi were both talented people, not losers, who had an impact on a generation of music lovers and more. I have to wonder why you're even here checking out the video....

  • @purrfectoo, you are so close minded, this is about her awesome voice, this is about a great icon of my times, why dont you get a life, and if you dont have nothing nice to say, dont say it. Your name does not suit you, nobody is perfect, you are probably as ugly as sin, and just a nobody, if you dont like her, then dont listen to her music.

  • @purrfectoo I don't really have an agenda for drugs but your comments don't really make sense. It seems you've been indoctrinated to think along a certain line in relation to drugs. Not your fault really, considering we know what we're taught but to call someone a loser simply because they did drugs means your dismissing a lot. Sigmund Freud did cocaine. Loser? You fucking tell me.

  • people can be so ignorant -- she will always remain AMAZING

  • Damn I love her voice! So raw, intense, n powerful! Absolutely heavenly!

  • Gotta love her!

  • Can anyone say LOADED???? cOULD SHE GET ANYONE TO MARRY HER?

  • Best female singer ever

  • Damn, what an INCREDIBLE voice! People are still going to be listening to this long after todays' "musical artists" are long gone distant memories.

  • Does anyone know when this recording was made ?

  • There is simply no one like this alive and singing today.

  • freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose.............RIP

  • Thank you very much ! Natural version !

    ☆彡cometa ☆彡amor ☆彡cometa ☆彡amor

  • rinata...is my babe.....will...

  • rinata...is my babe

  • Back in the day... when people actually "recorded" and "performed" with pure vocals and real instruments in the studio. No computers filled with an endless array of effects. We've lost the natural beauty of just... recording with a bit of compression, EQ and old-school reverb to tape! Now I am sad. :(

  • totally rocks the soul so softly......just pure natural pickin and singing something that is greatly loved andwill never go away!

  • @yolchie Yes. But what about the even older days when people just hit some bones and clap their hands humming. Don't get me wrong, I do dig what you say but so goes time and the world. One day, some guy will say what about the good old computer days ...

    Music is the best ;-)

  • Very SF Girl

    love her way

  • Awesome song! Kris Kristofferson would have been proud! In fact I know he was, since he wrote it with her in mind........

  • miss you sista

  • bless her,,,,, what a great talent. I dont care what people think she is in my house playing day after day.....

  • Her songs speak to my heart, I dont care about keeping up with the latest songs ect, this is talent and if I sit in my lounge room listenting to janis joplin and crying and laughing .well thats what a great artist can do.......

  • wonderful, just wonderful - I saw her in the Royal Albert Hall back in 1969, this brings it all back.

  • holy wow ..........love to the 10th power

  • it just kills me that no one ever brings up the great guitarist Brian Jones as opening member of the "27" club...........freak

  • @jimbeaux70427 If I'm not mistaken, Robert Johnson was the original member of the 27 club.

  • Simple... sweet.... beautiful.... Janis. Miss you as much today, as the day I heard you'd left us.

  • Nobody sang the blues like Janis. Nobody .You feel the pain and joy in every word and tone.

  • Best version EVER

  • Too bad she had to go and "join" the 27 club like Hendrix, Cobain, Winehouse, Morrison, et al? WOW. Janis is so young in those pics.

  • @sharona54 uhhh "THAT HOE, WINEHOUSE" will NEVER be in the 27 club!

im sorry, but that skank is NOT deserving of being called a legend. NO MATTER WHAT!

fuckin drugged out bitch! she did NOT pay her dues, or EARN that kind of respect!!

that's a sick fucking joke, and it SHOULD piss off any true music fan!!! PERIOD!!

  • you got to be kidding me, Get a FUCKNG life you don't know shit. There is no way you can be a true Music fan and not appreciate the raw Rock-N- Roll of Janis J

  • @TheMartyDaw ..1st of all i dogged on amy winehouse. secondly fuck you.. you obviously need to learn to read AND comprehend!!!! dumbass

  • @johnnieknown Someone is angry, o_0 you do know Janis was all about peace and love right? I really think you need to learn to respect the dead, what you just said about Amy Winehouse is disgusting.

  • Too bad she had to go and "join" the 27 club like Hendrix, Cobain, Winehouse, Morrison, et al?

  • People who are deeply rejected by their own community suffer from severe trauma as a result. Ask any psychiatrist. The verbal abuse & rejection comes 1st because she's unique, then the accusations of bad behavior comes to justify the rejection. Eventually the rejected person turns to alcohol & drugs because they actually do ease the pain for a while. She is like millions of Americans who grow up in towns like Port Arthur. She had no responsibility to protect the people who destroyed her.

  • my mom went to school with Janis in Port Arthur ,Tx.Mom say Janis was a "Little Wild " but the city of Port Arthur was not her problem. It was the nation and the intolerence of the changing of the times . Janis sought thru the use of alchol and drugs to alleviate the pain of everyday life back then . As with any of us we have to face life on lifes terms and not get caught up in our emotions. I love Janis and what she stood for CHANGE. GBA

  • @bzinborg So was your mom at the class reunion when she went back and nobody talked to her. When she walked down the street and most people looked at her as a freak. Were she was labeled a whore because she played in the honky tonks nearby right out of high school.....Those are not my words those are Janis Joplins. Ask your mom about that. Think how you would feel if the people you love and grew up with for 20 years turn there back on you for being a "Little Wild"

  • @HFDP49 I did not say Janis did not have the right to resent her past and I stick with what I said .The problem still is the intolernce of people regardless of where you are from.I can look back on my own past and see some of me in Janis but I cannot say the whole town hated me for what I did. The problem is my self acceptance and what am I gonna do about my problem ,continue to blame others and slowly commit suicide are face life on lifes terms and deal with it. Thank God for change

  • TE AMO JANIS, EN EL CIELO NOS CONOCEREMOS!!!!

  • "Am I getting my Texas accent back" Its amazing how the town of Port Aurthur Texas traumatized her. The city limits of that town were as thick as the walls of any prison in her mind.

  • i got to thinking about what people have said "she was ahead of her time". i would have to disagree. she was a ground breaker of the era. she shook up a generation of women whose futures held nothing but the traditional marriage, 2.5 children and a wood paneled stationwagon. as far as i am concerned, janis did more for the liberation of woment than "banning the bra". life held more - good or bad. ps - yes, i would trade a tommorrow for a single yesterday - if i could pick the days!

  • I would GIVE EVERYTHING to live in "Janis time" and could experience her presence, singing, gigs. ...I was born 1974 ....:)

  • @smilelikeUmeanit90 Would you trade all you trade tomorrows for 1 single yesterday?

  • @TheSarahfran Give EVERYTHING to meet Janis .....:)

  • thank you smileU... how strong does music influences lives, attitudes and daily highs and lows? 40 years later, i still live with the majic of those times. swimming upstream and challenging authority. i am the product of the 60s/70s. many do not understand my attitudes. janis & others, encouraged a break from the "excepted" life style & strike out to sample life and its experiences. i did. now at 62 i would not change a day - good or bad. i have the best memories. thank you janis.

  • @oranjedee I know what you mean. I first heard her before and then later at woodstock. There isn't a year that goes by where I am not reminded of her energy and soul.

  • janis was a major influence of 60s. we wanted to be her. she died too early but so many others did. her lifestyle was one we envied. so many flocked to san francisco & berekly. younger generations think "hippies" when 60s/70s are mentioned. ashame they don't understand. it wasn't hippies. it was janis & others' music who molded our attitudes. i miss those years & janis. "freedom's just another word . . ." vietnam, protests, angela davis, sit ins, anti-establishment & the "berkely barb"! thanks

  • @oranjedee1 YES...THANK YOU....

  • Lot of good covers of this song but no one did it like Janis

  • Wow, takes me back 40 years...what a great story, tune an dvoice...Janis you left us

    much too soon, baby....

  • Those 10 people who disliked this song must not know good music when they hear it. How could anyone not love Janis?!?!

  • This is gorgeous! Always a great voice but this is so pure and clear Wow

  • Wow...tu voz Janis me emociona....escucho musica nortena, banda y ranchera pero tu voz...damn!!

  • One of the few people able to completely bare her soul to the world. We're better for it. Taught a lot of us what real music is all about.

  • i miss you

  • Feelin good isn't good enough for 10 people

  • my fucking god i hear god existance in her singing

  • Gracias Janis, de mis canciones preferidas; para mi bebé, una hemosa canción, desde el vientre materno, te espero.

  • Waylon Jennings does a pretty mean version.

  • i went to school with someone who looked and sang just like janis joplin. she was a great enigma to me and disappeared during our junior year. when she came back at midterm of our senior year, i was so surprised to see her. after a few days, she came to me and started to talk, and we became friends. i haven't seen her in ages and have often wondered what happened to merrilee/kit. i miss her now.

  • Gointran, while it is true this world faces many new challenges, songs like these are worth a long pause and a couple inches of Hennessey . The chaos will always be with us unlike this beautiful artist. Be well

  • It's pure magic ! ... well I'm speechless. Suffice to say it doesn't get better than this.

  • AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

  • This song is special to me because I was 10 when this song came out and my name is Bobby McGee. How awesome is it to hear your whole name in a song by such a talented artist.
