Interesting Anti. The base for the statue was paid for by the children of NY. The statue came in but there was no base for it so it sat in the harbor in sailing ships(I believe) and the children of NY went around collecting pennies until they had enough! I love that thought that children did that. :) How much does it cost to go over and go into the statue if I may ask? Thanks for doing this. It's fun!

The building behind the man's hand at 1:48 is the old Manhattan telephone switch. These were typically very hard, reinforced concrete and steel girder buildings because the communications network went through them (tens of thousands of mechanical and electrical switches and thousands of miles of wire). The North Tower was directly across the street, with 7 WTC next to it. The collapse of the tower didn't faze the old building - and today Verizon owns and runs it.
