@RoryGarbutt I don't think you're very familiar with 20th Century classical music. This piece is actually not that strange compared to some others. Its main oddity is its duration, but at least its a traditional instrument, playing definite pitches :P

@DarkZekeX But extremes in duration may be stranger than other extremes. Indeed, an emphasis on duration as an important element in both composition and in the experience of listening may be Cage's chief contribution to the art, though he is more often acknowledged for his use of chance. Would anyone like to further explore this question with me?
