Listen up you dumb Americans, a lesson from a foreigner. Let me teach you a lesson about your constitution. The vicepresident cannot do laws, propose bills or anything like that. the vice can only act as a tie breaker when the senate if the vote is even. The vice can also be president if the pres. dies. That is basically all a vice can do. You dumbos, th Your time has come, economic depression is knocking on your door. the world is waiting.
President Bush has been challunged much over the last years by the enumies of Jesus and has triumphed dispite the odss!! He has prepaird the soil for Sarah to plant the seeds of Jesus !!! A vote for Sara is a vote for Jesus !! Halleluia !!!
I'm voting for Palin. She is hot. Who cares about republicans having crazy economic policies.the hell with the economy I want eye candy on my evening news..
Has she thrown away the $250000 wardrobe, makeup, hairdo and eyeglasses, after the furor hit the fan?
Looks like she has decided to walk around in real 'hockey mom' glasses and unkempt hair for a few days to blunt the criticism about splurging repug campagin donor money on the quarter million dollar makeover for her and her family.
I am amazed at the extent of the narrowmindedness out there that prevents people for giving Palin credit for anything she does. Don't vote for her if you don't agree with her views, but don't demonize, ridicule and attack her personally because that reflects more on you.
She is a politician and she is running to be VP of the US.
It is part of her job description to be criticized and attacked for her beliefs when they do not serve the best interests of the nation. We had better speak up now if we have issues with her than to wait until she becomes President.
The operant word is being criticized for her BELIEFS and political positions. But, the hate filled attacks on her have focused on all sorts of personal issues and not her beliefs. Democrats are so filled with hate during this election season that they can't see straight. Even when Palin makes a policy speech about an issue like Special Needs, which she knows something about, she is attacked in an unthinking manner.
Ad hominem are wrong and unhelpful-I agree. But I disagree with your assessment of Dems as filled with hate. I think they are just fed up. It's embarrassing when the country you love, embraces all the values you have been taught are wrong: intolerance of ethnic or religious differences, suspension of fundamental civil liberties (habeas corpus for chrissake!), unprovoked attacks on other nations. This is not hate, it's disgust. It's a call to return to an America we and the world will respect.
I absolutely agree that we need to turn the page from the Bush years, which is why I supported Kerry in 2004 and Obama now. My point is that calling Palin "stupid," or a "cun@" or an "idiot" just shows the ugly intolerance on the liberal Democratic side. Let's practice what we preach. Also, let's not confuse McCain with Bush, because the two men are very different.
Walk in the shoes of a parent with a child with autism or cerebal palsy or downs. You wouldn't last a day or maybe it's because you would abort them. screw you. you stupid dems can't do anything but spew hate because you can't argue facts.
You say we spew hate? your party hates gays! fuck you. Abortions should be legal for everyone! I believe in freedom and you bastards can't take that away.
Walk in the shoes of a rape victim. You fucking hypocrite.
SomethingAwfulYT: Why do u think is O.K 2 kill an innocent baby? Look! if u get rape, just call the police and go 2 the hospital right away. No more some fucking excuse to have an abortion period.
Uhh....Palin approves of a system where if a women gets raped, she has to pay for a rape kit to help identify the rapist. Someone who supports such policies probably wouldn't care about kids either, but its nice to pretend cause idiots like you fall for it. Palin/Mccain are fucking cowards, they hide behind the bible, the flag, and the fucking children. You faggots can't argue facts, because you don't know any better.
UR a fucking racist motherfucker. Obama was a fucking racist, when he was a memember of Trinity church 4 ove 20 yrs & when he talked behind people of PA in San Francisco. What's so fucking wrong 2 have a bible or believed in somethings? Why do want 2 have an abortion in the first place? If u get rape, just call the police or see a doctor right away. Unless u constantly get rape by your own family member all the time.
you're young and stupid, its cool. I won't hold it against you. You have a lot to learn. You took a lot of what I said out of context, which is fine because you're young and stupid and don't know any better. When you're older you'll understand.
Let just say I'm a hell lot older than u bitch. Go ahead vote for that motherfucker racist Obama. Here are some of Barack Hussein Obama friends for the past 20 yrs. REV.WRIGHT,LOUISE FARRAKHAN,BILL AYER,TONY REZKO,PFLEGER,JESSE JACKSON,AL SHARPTON,ACORN AND MANY OTHERS OUT THERE.
Obama admitted he never really agreed with those people. And just because you know a racist or a few, doesn't make you a racist. And he never even really knew Bill Ayers in the first place. I can easily call McCain and Palin terrorists because they're friends with secessionist groups in Alaska. Its fucking stupid and pointless. And no, you're not older and if you are, you're a lot dumber and age does not = wisdom.
Sure! U can be a member of KKK or any others hate groups for over 20 or 50 yrs and don't wanted anybody call u a racist person. Cool! I guess u want 2 be part of Rev.Wright,Louise Farrakhan,Bill Ayer,Tony Rezko,Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton group after all.
I think UR the dumbest person in the universe. Like I said before. if u don't want b call a crackhead, just don't do drug period. If ur a member of a hated group,u will be label as a racist. Obama was a drug addicted and he was a member of trinity church for over the past 20 yrs.
doesn't matter, anyone who reads the comments we fired back and forth to each other will clearly realize I'm smarter. Not like it matters anyways, the morons such as yourself get all the attention. Have fun being ignorant and trolled dick.
I think u and million of kool-air drinker are ignorant, stupid and brainless. Obama was brainwash by REV.WRIGHT,BILL AYER,LOUISE FARRKHAN,TONY REZKO,PFLEGER,RASHI KHALIDI,JESSE JACKSON,AL SHARPTON,ACORN and many others for over 20 yrs. Now all of u have been brainwash by Barack Hussein Obama himself.
It's ironic that she states that "the truest measure of a society is how it treats its most vulnerable" and 5 minutes later ridicules the very research that seeks to understand and possibly treat the cause of that vulnerability.
"Any Scientist out there like me, someone told me to check this out and i must say scientist....BE SCARED"
Palin is also a creationist. Typically creationists are anti-science. In this age we need support for our efforts to develop science, to encourage our best students to go into the field. Sarah Palin in office is the voice of anti-science. She is dangerous to the future security of this country.
If McCain can't get his party under control all that will be left of it are a bunch of religious fanatics and zealots, and some paranoids. They will have run off all the independent and moderate voters that they need to win an election. And for what, to appease a bunch of Bible wielding nutcases with narrow-little minds, that can't see past their noses. It may be too late for you John, I supported you until Palin came along. Huge mistake John.
McCain is responsible for his choice. Total lack of leadership putting his campaign ahead of the country. He made a pact with the devil (religious conservatives) and put Palin on the ticket to appease them because he is just too moderate for their tastes. Now the tail is wagging the dog and McCain can't stop it. Palin and Bachman have run amuck with their own brand of fear and hate mongering. Investigating our own citizens because they "may" have anti-american thoughts. Damn them!
I have a Christmas gift for Palin. Its a pair of binoculars which she can take home with her. It will help her keep an eye on those Russian fisherman on that little insignificant island. I am sure it will add to her foriegn policy experience.
Her past associations with AIP are interesting. She gets campaign money from AIP members, she supports legislation that supports AIP efforts to raise a militia, she praises their efforts (sesssionists), she ignores federal laws protecting Native Alaskans, AIP hates federal laws and the US Constitution. Where do her loyalties lie? She has pratically thrown McCain under the bus to save her political ass. She cannot be trusted any where near Washington, except as maybe dog catcher.
There is much about this woman we should be very worried about. She is dumb for sure but she has made a good sock puppet for the conservatives. Native Alaskans are rather upset with her. She has done much to take away Native Alaskan rights especially fishing rights which they need for subsistence living. She has done this in favor of sport and commercial fishing interests and she has ignored federal laws which protect Native Alaakan rights.
They have declared war on research and by extension prevention. She probably thinks autism and the rest are acts of God, that r not changeable. Please, God has given mankind power over all of these things, we just have to figure them out...and guess what this is a scientists argument for more research. More research, More Melanogaster drosophilia, No McCain, No Palin.
Any Scientist out there like me, someone told me to check this out and i must say scientist....BE SCARED. If you want to fund special need students, and pay for their health care that is not a problem. But when you want to cut funding for valuable fruit fly research, one of the researches at the core of this Autism thing, that is just absolutely insane. Maybe these politicians think we are fools, she tells us about this is wasteful spending, and thinks we will not call her out on it? NO MCPALIN
So is she aware that fruit flies are the leading model for genetic research to find information about.........ooooh I don't knooooooooow maybe AUTISM and DOWNS SYNDROME? She just condemned the very scientists researching what she's supposed to care about and inadvertently insulted every special needs parent in the room. Chris Matthews made the point that, if the RNC had spent $150,000 on a tutor instead of clothes, we wouldn't have a new cringe-worthy Sarah Palin quote every day.
This was to devert the fact she had to testify in Alaska today..funny that today she picks to hold this meeting....fools, she used your children to devert her situation.
Maybe we should go with Palins belief in faith based healing and pray all the diseases away. Screw all that unproven and unrelible sceince. What good it ever do? Those dumb archiolgist still think dinosaurs are millions of years all when in fact ther only reason they are gone is because Noah could fit them on the Ark and dinosaur poo is really stinky.
The earmark she refers to has nothing to do with medical research. It's about fruit flies that attack olive trees:
"Some lawmakers defended their earmarks, such as Rep. Mike Thompson, D-California, who channeled $742,764 to olive fruit fly research.
"The olive fruit fly has infested thousands of California olive groves and is the single largest threat to the U.S. olive and olive oil industries," he said.
Okay, I looked around and found this website that does talk about that specific earmark, but even still, it's troubling that something that does benefit the public good as it deals with an economic situation for the state of California. While not the big talking point as originally thought, it's still thought of as troubling she would slam something of that nature that does actually do some good for the general public.
Well earmarks are a matter of perspective. If you own olive trees, this is a wonderful thing. In all cases, someone benefits just simply by receiving the money. But is there a higher priority, such as funding the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, where the money would be better spent?
It isn't really based upon individuals who own olive trees, nor is it a widespread issue as it is centralized in California. The issue is looked upon as a threat to the California based olive oil companies, which could affect jobs in the California area as well as the stat's economy. For the rest of America it can be viewed as a waste of money, but that's because we don't benefit from this earmark. I don't see how we could look at is being completely frivolous.
Now, I don't know how well a site like that will be received, but it does kind of paint the picture that either way you look at it, Palin did slam something that is somewhat helpful even if only to a small portion of the country she seeks to serve as vice president.
You are correct, though she could have been more specific, but the sneer of contempt she has for "fruit fly research" reveals something deeper about the woman. It is the same sneer she uses for "community organizer" . She looks down on those she does not understand. It is the same lack of intellectual curiosity we had in Bush and it has brought us nothing but disaster and mismanagement.
The humble fruit fly has played a lead role on the scientific stage for more than a century. Tiny picnic pests to us, flies from a single species, Drosophila melanogaster, have provided a bounty of Nobel Prize winning discoveries for researchers in the fields of genetics and developmental biology, and helped serve as models of human diseases such as Parkinsons and cancer.
Yeah, a lot good the fruit fly did for these diseases. There is still no cure for any of them. Open your eyes and see how your money has been wasted. You are wasting time arguing pettiness when you should be supporting endeavors to end the obstacles and roadblocks in helping autistic children and others with special needs. Grow up.
Uhm...I feel your own words fitting in summing up your little tantrum on this video: grow up.
If you want to talk about this in a mature fashion, then we'll talk about it in a truly mature, and adult fashion. I'm sure there's a lot of previously mocked scientific studies upon other animals that have actually generated cures for diseases that once claimed lives in previous generations. The reason we got to that level was study, and the answers aren't quick enough to salvage a current generation.
As an independent i find it harder and harder to convince myself to vote for John McCain. Remember the vice president is only a heartbeat away from becoming Commander in Chief. I honestly believe Palin is not ready for the job. If she doesn't know the role of the vice-president, how are we to believe she understands the role of the president. Lost in the shuffle is her affliation with the Alaska Independence Party. I can honestly say she scares me more than Obama. Just my opinion.
October road, children aren't fruit flies and there is no connection. There have also been studies done by Germans comparing the behavior of Autistic children to species of birds-also bull shit. The bottom line is that we all know more or less what may be causing this and so does MCCain Palin. All of these bogus quacks waste our tax dollars and come up with no viable explanation. Stop pandering to someone like me. I am never going to by your ridiculous rhetoric.
this is one of the dumbest replies I have seen on you tube and that says a lot. Do you really think that mccain/palin what causes autism and they are holding onto this information only to release it if they win? Seriously? You are being pandered to by mccain/palin and no one else and I just pray that 51% of our country isnt as stupid as you are.
Uhm...you are aware at the fact that scientific study isn't a guarantee that their research will cure every ailment they look to tackle, but rather a step taken in hopes of finding answers to question that remain unanswered? Palin, nor McCain, have the answer to autism and it is foolish to think otherwise. The answer to autism is in science, and until they discover what causes it and how to best repress or stop it, all we can do is hope to help those who suffer from it.
Sorry, but you're misguiding yourself here in your belief that Palin and McCain represent the true answer to this issue when really all they're speaking upon is this idea of relief they're promising us for their administration. And that's all it is, a promise. There is no guarantee, and there is no cure that only they possess. If you feel this promise is enough for you, then feel free to vote them on Nov. 4th, but don't do it under the gullibility that what they're saying is a cure - it isn't.
All one has to do is look up the research on Drosophila and autism and you will find a considerable amount of information on the subject. Again Palin has opened her mouth long enough to change feet.
Scientists (IN North Carolina)using a new drug screening method in Drosophila (fruit flies), have identified several drugs and small molecules that reverse the features of fragile X syndrome -- a frequent form of mental retardation and one of the leading known causes of....AUTISM. The discovery sets the stage for developing new treatments for fragile X syndrome.
Fragile x is not a leading known cause of Autism. This is completely unfounded. Most cases of Autism have no known cause with the exception of those which may be associated with a rheumatological or genetic predisposition. Most Autism cases though are not genetic.
Overall funding for special needs students has increased every year since Sarah Palin entered office as governor. Palin increased the amount from $219 million in 2007 to a projected $276 million in 2009. The per-pupil funding grew in Alaska under Palin's administration from $26,900 in fiscal year 2008 to $73,840 devoted to fiscal year 2011.
Palin has also directed state funds to other special needs programs. This funding includes $500,000 in services for Autistic children.
It is McCain 08 and it will never be Palin 2012 as she is the joke of the world and most of the Americans, the ones that can read, listen and have brains, know that.
If u don't like Palin, just don't vote for her. Obama brains was on crack cocaine, weed and million of others illegal out there for many yrs. Also Obama was been brainwash by Rev.Wrigt-Louise Farrakhan-Bill Ayer-Tony Rezko,Pfleger-Jesse Jackson-Al Sharpton and many others out there.
To all you naysayers---she is not just blowing smoke. She has a nephew with Autism and a baby with Down Syndrome-these special needs issues are IMPORTANT to her....and she has proven that she will do something about it by doubling the funding for special needs students in Alaska. You just can't stand that there is actually a politician with a heart...I know it is unusual...but Sarah Palin is the real deal. An incredible woman. McCain Palin '08
She cut funding for Special Needs programs twice in Alaska. Please do some research before believing every word that comes out of her mouth. It's very important, please. Don't take my word for it. Just take a half an hour and research what she's done in the past. Please.
May I direct you to this article---which shows Palin did give MORE funding for SPECIAL NEEDS children....and is continuing to grow funds allocated to these programs. I am a spec ed teacher and someone stated "all she talked about are laws already in place"...right but there IS NEXT TO ZERO FUNDING for them! School Districts are legally required to PROVIDE ....yet are not given the funds by the state or federal gov't to do so. I believe Sarah Palin has shown she will make funding a priority
May I direct you to the many articles written proving she doesn't give a damn about funding Special Needs issues. I believe Sarah Palin has overwhelmingly shown she will say and do anything to fool you out of your vote. Sarah Palin will make Sarah Palin a priority. Power hungry, vacuous, dangerous and clueless. If you are voting for her then you're admitting she's smarter than you. History will have the last laugh.
Now the Republicans are aiming for special needs programs. Well that is wise as all Republicans are in title to get extra money as the all are retarded.
This has nothing to do with a hart, it has everything to do with the rest of the campaing is not working.
If she has a hart why did she cut funding for special needs programs twice in Alaska.

Every 4 years we get a choice of 2 lessor than evils of a couple baby kissing full of promises for change politicians and due to mindless Americans we run a popularity contest. This time around it's turned into a sitcom.
CAN YOU PEOPLE NOT SEE THIS?
Check into the independants, Ron Paul, Ralph Nader or anyone but stray if you will to the real world just for a moment and see if you find that the mainstream media is leading you around like mindless sheep.
I belong to a network of special needs children's online group. We are over 400 strong and Gov. Palin has struck a chord amongs many of the parents. She is right about "...access to information" being the most important thing for us. I'm very impressed with her command of knowledge on IEP, IDEA and what is covered and how she is going to cover it. Very good point on "specials needs trust."
Just to let you know there are a lot of dems in our group that'll be voting for McCain because of her.
Don't do that, oh my God don't do that, don't do that. You're falling for someone telling you what you want to hear. That's how the Republicans get the Christian vote, the small-town vote and the gun-lovers vote. Please don't let them corner the "special needs" vote as well. I'm insulted that Sarah Palin is trying to be the voice for those dealing with special needs.
I am insulted that you know nothing about the subject or her and spew your vitriol on this website. She is sincere and we are not falling for your nonsense. Keep drinking your kool-aid, but step out these children's way. You are just part of the continuing problem in this country and the war being waged against these kids within government to prevent them from progressing and becoming fully functioning adults. Take a hike.
"My daughter has autism. I have every right to say what I just said. "
Absolutely you do, Palin trivialized and made a joke of the research done with Drosophila. She is a creationist and creationists are typically anti-science. Palin has no business making any judgements regarding science. In this day and age we need people who are science savy and not science neanderthals like Palin. I was a Biology teacher for 32 years and I found her remarks absolutely stupid.
She made a statement about fruit fly research in Paris, not in the United States. We need to be funding research for our own country not the socialist country of France, who does very little to help their own children which is why they all come to cities like NY for help.
"She made a statement about fruit fly research in Paris, not in the United States. "
The research goes on all over the world, just because it is the French does not make any the less vaild. Scientists share the information with each other from all over the world.
I'm sorry, but that's ignorant. The statement about the fruit fly research helps out her cause and she basically slammed it by making it sound like it was some sort of mockery of our spending to look into, regardless of where the studies actually take place.
If she is truly devoted to this cause, a little research into the topic would be thoughtful, a little consideration to what she slams a little more considerate. Beyond all that, however, a little intelligence welcomed.
When she made fun of the "fruit fly" research, she was slapping every parent of a child with autism in the face. The research being done with fruit flies may someday lead to preventing cases of autism in all children. She's clueless and, more dangerously, populist. She is 100% only saying what she feels she needs to say to be elected.
No she was not!!! Autism is a neurological disorder or condition and has to tackled from the perspective of understanding what is going on in the brain of each individual child afflicted because each child's symptoms are very different and no two children are alike. She is not saying this to get elected, but you are spewing your vitriol to get a do nothing like Obama elected. Go ahead, bite your nose to spite your face. You have only your daughter's future to worry about.
Again, I'm sorry but the idea here is bogus. If a study being conducted on other animals helps us as a human race in anyway it's worth furthering that study to help apply this new found knowledge upon human beings. You're not honestly suggesting that the only way to battle a neurological disease is to treat the individual rather than the disease, are you?
" If a study being conducted on other animals helps us as a human race"
Her comments reveals another problem. Like many amoung the conservatives she does not think in 21st Century global terms. Her view is narrow and like McCain stuck in early 20th Century which is why McCain keeps bringing up Teddy Rosevelt.
You've to believe when I say that it was not an easy choice. When she says, "...families need to know what treatments are effective, how much that will cost, ..." this seems to come from her experience. We haven't seen any proposals from Obama, yet. In fact, our group leader contacted all the campaigns in April and asked. Only Hillary replied. On Sep 4th we got a reply from McCain but signed by Palin!
There is a feeling that Palin has put some sense into McCain camp w.r.t. special needs kids.
It isn't now, but it will be. You guys are being blinded by an onslaught of negative and misleading information. You won't be able to see what has been done to you for at least a couple years. Obama is the right choice and he'll prove it. Hang in there.
While this may be true, your previous comment didn't offer any sort of true comfort for those who are on the fence based solely upon this issue - if someone like ytamilbala says they've contacted representatives who were running for this office of President in hopes of getting their stance upon this issue and the only one who responded is a candidate that isn't on the final ballot, then there can be no comfort from towing the line comments like yours, even if you meant well.
Both McCain and Hillary has experience, good judgement, leadership and ready to lead this country on day 1. And I want 2 see Hillary become the next President in the next 4 yrs.
You are a flat out liar. She never cut funding for these programs. She increased them you Obamabot. Secondly, my son has autism and as Palin has indicated because of early interviention has made many gains. Your jaded view does little to help our children. Most of us "real" special needs parents know and value early diagnosis and education. McCain and Hillary indeed have much in common on this issue in particular. Do you own research, before it is too late.
Its a stretch to say she pushed for any policy improvements. Though Palin did sign a law increasing special education funding in Alaska, she had no role whatsoever in its development, according to the bills author, Rep. Mike Hawker (R). Moreover, as governor, Palin vetoed $275,000 in Special Olympics Alaska funds (Page 100, SB 221 with vetoes), slashing the organizations operating budget in half.
As a parent of a child with Autism I am amazed that you overlooked Palin's stupidity use of fruit flies is a standard methodology in genetic and other medical research. Palin is ignorant when it comes scientific investigation Fruit Fly research has been used for autism research it has revolutionized the study of birth defects. I hope for you and your child's sake she is never in a position to influence Scientific research, policy or funding. Google is your friend Drosophila fruit flies autism
Hahahahaha, I know. we're terrible in horror movies. Ever seen any blacks in 'em? NO! Becasue they're smart enough to get out when the house starts running blood through the tap. Us stupid white people stay and try to figure out why the house is talking to us...

Huge mistake John.
jimitl5 3 years ago

She cannot be trusted any where near Washington, except as maybe dog catcher.
jimitl5 3 years ago
There is much about this woman we should be very worried about. She is dumb for sure but she has made a good sock puppet for the conservatives. Native Alaskans are rather upset with her. She has done much to take away Native Alaskan rights especially fishing rights which they need for subsistence living. She has done this in favor of sport and commercial fishing interests and she has ignored federal laws which protect Native Alaakan rights.

They have declared war on research and by extension prevention. She probably thinks autism and the rest are acts of God, that r not changeable. I found this video from April in which a congressman comments on the same fruit fly earmark. $200,000 of the $700,000 goes to research in France.
This is the video:
"DeMint Discusses 'Pig Book' on FOX"
lrgilone 3 years ago
The earmark she refers to has nothing to do with medical research. It's about fruit flies that attack olive trees:
"Some lawmakers defended their earmarks, such as Rep. Mike Thompson, D-California, who channeled $742,764 to olive fruit fly research.
"The olive fruit fly has infested thousands of California olive groves and is the single largest threat to the U.S. olive and olive oil industries," he said.
Google "pig book cnn" for the article
lrgilone 3 years ago
Okay, I looked around and found this website that does talk about that specific earmark, but even still, it's troubling that something that does benefit the public good as it deals with an economic situation for the state of California. While not the big talking point as originally thought, it's still thought of as troubling she would slam something of that nature that does actually do some good for the general public.
moralvirus 3 years ago
Well earmarks are a matter of perspective. If you own olive trees, this is a wonderful thing. In all cases, someone benefits just simply by receiving the money. But is there a higher priority, such as funding the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, where the money would be better spent?
lrgilone 3 years ago
It isn't really based upon individuals who own olive trees, nor is it a widespread issue as it is centralized in California. The issue is looked upon as a threat to the California based olive oil companies, which could affect jobs in the California area as well as the stat's economy. For the rest of America it can be viewed as a waste of money, but that's because we don't benefit from this earmark. I don't see how we could look at is being completely frivolous.
moralvirus 3 years ago
anevolvingcreation. net/ standup/ blog. htm
Now, I don't know how well a site like that will be received, but it does kind of paint the picture that either way you look at it, Palin did slam something that is somewhat helpful even if only to a small portion of the country she seeks to serve as vice president.
moralvirus 3 years ago
You are correct, though she could have been more specific, but the sneer of contempt she has for "fruit fly research" reveals something deeper about the woman. It is the same sneer she uses for "community organizer" . She looks down on those she does not understand. It is the same lack of intellectual curiosity we had in Bush and it has brought us nothing but disaster and mismanagement.

The humble fruit fly has played a lead role on the scientific stage for more than a century. Tiny picnic pests to us, flies from a single species, Drosophila melanogaster, have provided a bounty of Nobel Prize winning discoveries for researchers in the fields of genetics and developmental biology, and helped serve as models of human diseases such as Parkinsons and cancer.
giannalynn10 3 years ago

If you feel this promise is enough for you, then feel free to vote them on Nov. 4th, but don't do it under the gullibility that what they're saying is a cure - it isn't.

Scientists (IN North Carolina)using a new drug screening method in Drosophila (fruit flies), have identified several drugs and small molecules that reverse the features of fragile X syndrome -- a frequent form of mental retardation and one of the leading known causes of....AUTISM. The discovery sets the stage for developing new treatments for fragile X syndrome.
clarkforobama55 3 years ago 2
Fragile x is not a leading known cause of Autism. This is completely unfounded. Most cases of Autism have no known cause with the exception of those which may be associated with a rheumatological or genetic predisposition. Most Autism cases though are not genetic.

She made a statement about fruit fly research in Paris, not in the United States. We need to be funding research for our own country not the socialist country of France, who does very little to help their own children which is why they all come to cities like NY for help.
ojosclaros8 3 years ago
"She made a statement about fruit fly research in Paris, not in the United States. "
The research goes on all over the world, just because it is the French does not make any the less vaild. Scientists share the information with each other from all over the world.
jimitl5 3 years ago
I'm sorry, but that's ignorant. The statement about the fruit fly research helps out her cause and she basically slammed it by making it sound like it was some sort of mockery of our spending to look into, regardless of where the studies actually take place.
If she is truly devoted to this cause, a little research into the topic would be thoughtful, a little consideration to what she slams a little more considerate. Beyond all that, however, a little intelligence welcomed.
moralvirus 3 years ago 2
When she made fun of the "fruit fly" research, she was slapping every parent of a child with autism in the face. The research being done with fruit flies may someday lead to preventing cases of autism in all children. She's clueless and, more dangerously, populist. She is 100% only saying what she feels she needs to say to be elected.
OctoberRoad 3 years ago 2
No she was not!!! Autism is a neurological disorder or condition and has to tackled from the perspective of understanding what is going on in the brain of each individual child afflicted because each child's symptoms are very different and no two children are alike. She is not saying this to get elected, but you are spewing your vitriol to get a do nothing like Obama elected. Go ahead, bite your nose to spite your face. You have only your daughter's future to worry about.
ojosclaros8 3 years ago
Again, I'm sorry but the idea here is bogus. If a study being conducted on other animals helps us as a human race in anyway it's worth furthering that study to help apply this new found knowledge upon human beings. You're not honestly suggesting that the only way to battle a neurological disease is to treat the individual rather than the disease, are you?
moralvirus 3 years ago
" If a study being conducted on other animals helps us as a human race"
Her comments reveals another problem. Like many amoung the conservatives she does not think in 21st Century global terms. Her view is narrow and like McCain stuck in early 20th Century which is why McCain keeps bringing up Teddy Rosevelt.
jimitl5 3 years ago
You've to believe when I say that it was not an easy choice. When she says, "...families need to know what treatments are effective, how much that will cost, ..." this seems to come from her experience. We haven't seen any proposals from Obama, yet. In fact, our group leader contacted all the campaigns in April and asked. Only Hillary replied. On Sep 4th we got a reply from McCain but signed by Palin!

Its a stretch to say she pushed for any policy improvements. Though Palin did sign a law increasing special education funding in Alaska, she had no role whatsoever in its development, according to the bills author, Rep. Mike Hawker (R).
