I have MIUI installed on my rooted incredible. I also have clockwork recovery mod. I want to totally unroot my phone due to problems I've been having and go back to the original Android OS that was on my phone when I got it. I tried installing the zip you provided from the recovery menu and didn't work. What should I do?
for anyone that did this and is having a issue with a black screen.. click of the RUU link and run it with your phone plugged in and what you think is on( pull the battery and put back in, hit power one time. should vibrate
Yo man, this is amazing. It's a very simple way to get the phone back to stock. I was just getting tired of downloading roms. I will upgrade to a faster, better phone so I started downgrading today! Thanks for the video!!
@XzTGHEPICzX also I know it's broken because it went nuts before it stopped working. i can use the touch screen though i can feel the haptic feedback from both the screen and menu buttons. display just doesn't work
my phone doesn't find the zip file how do i fix this? i rooted my htc incredible s and i was loving it until i installed cyanogen, the i got stuck in the boot loop and when i finally got out of it i turned my phone on and i cant get any signal whatsoever.. if you could help me it would be greatly appreciated! i'm with bell in canada,
i rooted my htc wildfire and used cyanogenmod7, i backed up my contacts and everything works well, i just get some lag..and was woundering can i change the speed without harming it even more?
worked fine.. After it finished updating it went back to the boot loader and I had to Re-update it again but after that and flashing the HTC Incredible screen twice (the white one) it started up fine. Perfect Un-Root. WAY better than factoy reset. Thanks !
@GrizzlyHR Same thing happened to me. Panicked but read your post and did what you did. Worked great!! Thanks Grizzly, and thanks @Finalchance! Worked like a bloody charm!

quick question being that gingerbread is being pushed out for the incredible i want to unroot my gf`s incredible so she can get it, now my query is that i think it is @ version 2.2.1 will i still be able to follow your steps? and if not how do i unroot her phone?
That was kinda scary hmmm... well i updated the unroot.zip succesfully but when i rebooted it... i was sent to the reboot screen which i had to reboot continuously with no success booting the phone... until i decided to go to the bootloader and reinstalled the Unroot.zip again and when i rebooted from the rocker up selecter it did work thanks Homie !!! and stop smacking your lips on your videos LMAO jk
welp, now my phone wont turn on. this sucks. everything was working exactly how urs was until i hit to reboot. then it stayed a black screen. now from the time of me typing i took my battery and sd card out. put the battery back in and left the sd card out and it vibrated as if it was gonna turn on but did not. still black screen of death!
@Cynicfate i found out my problem. its because when it unroot, it downgrades it and if u got it a little after it first came out like 4 months after it came out, that phone doesnt support that low of a downgrade. just plug it in and find out how to update it and it will work perfectly fine again just everything will be cleared, but thats easy to get back.
@erocknizzle You found out the problem? Were you able to fix your phone or just figured out how it got screwed up? If you fixed it, what steps did you take? Thanks
@BrianPaszek all you have to do is update your phone. it was downgraded too low when u unrooted (because thats how they unroot) and you just have to search for the newest update and manually download that and then everything will be absolutely perfect. your phone is not bricked, just your display will not work so dont worry and dont try and buy a new phone. just update your stuff and itll be ok i promise :)
@erocknizzle Thank you!! After I read your post and I did some more searching, I was able to find out how to 'upgrade' using a blind method. I couldn't believe it actually worked. I already bought a new Thunderbolt over the weekend - good thing I didn't just toss the DINC out. I am going to keep the TBOLT and my wife said she'd take the DINC as she doesn't have a smart phone. You rock!! Thanks!!
@slameblame911 you have to unroot to 2.1 then either wait for it to update by its self or you could install the firm ware manually which is what i had to do because for some reason it neveer asked me to update
@aswan412 and it was fine untill i went to open the "unroot" file and i got the file but when i clicked on it it was zipped inside the zip file.. its called "PB31IMG" please help if you can..
whenever i tried to root it, i did everything right i think..
1. plug in phone
2. activate usb debug
3. download the file for it called "DI-2.2-root.zip" which had root for 2.2
4. went to device manager
5 "other devices"
6. pasted the file in
7. then it changed on device manager to andriod phone
well thank you for teaching me how to brick my phone -_- i called verizons customer service and sense i was within the 30 days i can get a new one tomarrow so alls well that ends well i suppose <<
Don't do this if you have SLCD screen. I just did and now my dinc is bricked for good. Luckily the guy at Verizon agreed to ship me a free refurbished model.
hey it doesnt work i had formated my sd card well i didnt have to it said fat32(defalt) but i still erased everything and i dragged the file into my sd card made sure it downloaded al the way compleatly on to my sd card then i went to charge only and shot it off. i got to the skate board thing and it does the thing and says uploading zip and it just stops and doesnt do anything i need help please!
@Babyblitz100 Make sure your on 2.1. This is a huge issue for the sole reason that it only works correctly on 1.2. I'm running 2.1 in THIS video. If you have 2.1 and your unrooting it, make sure everything is spelled right and its on the root of the SD.
@jellybeans0x Try installing again. Mine wouldn't get past the boot loader screen. Would keep rebooting into the boot screen. I installed again and it worked.
I'm trying to unroot my phone and was following u all the way up to the format part. After formating, u showed an unroot zip file on your desk top. I don't have that file. where do i get it?
This is the one video that actually helped. Props to finalchance.
HBOOT would not recognize the PB31IMG.zip that I downloaded from many places. I finally just googled "PB31IMG.zip" and found a 146.3MB file (not 146.4!) that worked. There is something really weird going on with these files. More than a FAT32 issue. Good luck!
@jakeblues23 Upgrade at the end? As long as that PB31IMG.zip and its 140 mb everything should work out. Bringing you to 2.0 or something before 2.1 then prompting for an update. Try system update under settings in about phone.
@slmagus Technically you should be getting the froyo updates instead, at that moment it was 2.1. In any case, you need to have the phone unrooted to update manually ( if you don't see the update) or auto if you get Verizon's OTA. Manually is better though since the OTA (Update prompt) cant be rooted atm. Manually rooted froyo is a little more difficult though.
dumb question, how do I manually update, i'm not being prompted to update. I had rooted froyo through unrevoked, and unrooted the way you outlined, now I am stuck with 2.1 and I need to return the phone to verizon

my sd card was right and everything and it didnt find the file... i did everything, set it to charge before turning it off, put the file on the root, is it because im on a custome rom?
@godofapplez As long as its a fresh FAT32 with the complete file on there it should work. The custom rom may be an issue but we all boot up to that same screen with 3 androids. Try without the rom?
@finalchance i got it to work, i missed the part where you unzip the unroot.zip and place the PMG.zip file on the sdcard. i placed the whole file on the root thanks for the vid!
