mr2s are evil. at least mine seems to be. Ive tried and tried to set it up so it isnt so tail happy, and it still wants to spin. everybody says that its not the setup its the need for driving school, i say bullshit. i went to driving school and still have a hell of a time w an mr2 vs any other mid engine. i even drove a friends porsche and didnt have any problems
@Jacksonkellyfreak you need a sway bar and better tire. and what year is your mr2? if is a 91.. had no l.s.d. if 92 and 93 has l.s.d. and 94 to 96 come with both l.s.d and sway bar.
@hofme123 You are absolutely right. Watch the other vid of the review of what happened. Cool that you noticed. Part of that I atrtibute to the low sun/strob effect through the trees, missing the apex by abour a half an inch. Touching the curb/rock/apex for about 15". The RR was loose like on black ice.
he caught the dirt on the left side and probably hit the brakes when it started to slide mr2's are very unstable cars but if you have ever been doing 80+ on road and hit the dirt with either right or left tyres you will know what im talking about hope i helped mate
They're actually not unstable cars at all. The only issue they have is snap oversteer, and that was solved with a wider wheelbase. They're designed for stability on the track.
really shows how unstable mr2's can be during hard braking.. the car was flying along that straight!!! must of been shit scary getting the driver out car leaking fuel and the engine still going :/
Unstable braking around a corner yes. To reply to your post that apparently got removed, I own an mr2, and drove it all winter, and when i say that it's only dumb ass drivers that spin out at low speeds i said it because i know.
First time my car started to spin was going AT LEAST 65 kph and was TOTALLY unexpected, and i STILL saved it, and i'm 19 btw. And i made the mistake of letting off the gas, and still managed alright. So in my books anyone who spins round at low speed is a retard driver.
well i think it's because you can see how fast it happens in this vid. Most of the mid engine car spins are really slow spins, at low speed, and are really just dumb ass drivers having never entered spin, and especially never in a mid engine car.
You can really see where the ditch almost grabbed and pulled him in, too bad.
I also have to admit that i'm pretty well one of those kids who learned rally driving from a video game, although, not really a kid anymore
Shit mate, hope you walked away ok. Shame about the mr2 aswell it was a good drive until the crash. Even the best drivers in the world cant recover from that sort of thing keep it up mate.
well if he cant find their kill switch after that kind of accident then the car might explode into fumes especially with the high octane race fuel. The "killswitch" actually saved this guy, on 1:52 "its dripping gas..." seconds to destruction.
hahahaha I love it.. the first thing the guy says while running up to the car is "wheres your kill switch?" and with out being asked, the guy says "im alright" poor guy..
That's not ideal

@SUFIx310 if they don't find the kill switch the car could blow up at any second killing the driver and anyone near the vehicle.

Glad you're ok! Sorry about your car. At least you're living it up and doing something a lot of people aren't lucky enough to do! Peace.

If you watch the video closely you can see that he hit the curb on the left, thus unsettling the suspension causing the car to lose traction.
BTW - This is the most dangerous turn and it has a name... "OH-SHIT!"
He wasn't the first and he wasn't the last

how did he crash? I mean he wasn't at a great angle when his rear just lost the traction and came sliding... can anyone explain it to me please?

This.. I got my MR2 the other week and was cautious due to hearing of the backend always going out.
But it hasn't gone out even once, there again, I don't drive like an Idiot.. and it's an NA.
Bad crash though, atleast the driver is ok.
Seany06 2 years ago
MKII's have some pretty bad snap oversteer. He's a pretty good driver though otherwise. Glad he's alright.
