  • 2:45 anyone know the name of that song

  • i will never cut off a shady truck again

  • Saw it as a child. Great movie. On to the next part.

  • This movie rocks! Full of suspense created only by two dueling strangers to each other wherein the one (villain) has obscure motivations...!

  • Road Rage at it's Best

  • I've been a trucker for a long time, this is not road rage. I have ran a few off the road, chased others, intimidated hundreds. Yes I know it's wrong, but I can tell you it is normally because someone is being an ass and I have no problem letting them know they are being selfish, rude or whatever. Wrong place, wrong time. Although I feel most of them deserve it.

  • @fairydust5511 ive been a trucker for blah blah stfu fuktard

  • I totally side with the truck driver on this one. Dennis Weaver pulls a move I see almost every day on the Northern State Parkway. Someone comes speeding up behind you, tailgates you for a while, passes you and then becomes preoccupied with the radio,(or a phone these days),and once they pass you they then slow down slower than what you are doing. I just wish I had this truck and I would chase these bad drivers right off the roads.

  • I always thought this film was just about how an every day situation can become terrifying because of one change, like David says, "there's some things that you always think will never change, like being able to drive on a public highway without someone trying to murder you"

  • No wonder he's the victim look at his car!

  • david did not upset the trucker in any way, the trucker just selected a victim.

  • he would have beat that truck if he had the v8 in the valiant.

  • Still one of Spielberg's best!

  • It might be me who's a little after here, since last time I saw this movie I was like 5 years old... But why did the trucker start chasing Mann?

  • @flubbeflabber

The movie implies that the trucker started his attack due to a mixture of road rage and criminal psychopathy.

  • is that KITT's voice on the radio?

  • Steven Spielberg said he implied the guy in the truck as a serial killer , and the license plates on the front of the truck are past victims, so its not a man vs souless machine ref, though that is a good idea

  • @redoutband Yeah! That´s all, people.

  • Thank You for Posting This.

  • Thanks yet again TsEtSoMaN for another classic movie post

  • Thanks for posting this in its entirety. Other posters have cut important bits out, but yours is the complete version. Thanks for your time and effort so people like me can properly re-enjoy this great movie.

  • Hey @Tsetsoman. SO many good uploads but all the audio is way too compressed! Sounds like its underwater - not nice on the ears.

  • If you pause at 7:54 you'll see that it's a human driving the truck not a spectral figure, I don't know maybe it is a ghost but it looks human at 7:54.

  • this reminds me of mad max: the road warrior

  • the petrolheads fave movie!

  • Was talk radio popular, even back in '71?

  • Why'd the trucker pick on David Mann, anyway? IDK!

  • @DaveWollenberg

Road rage + criminal psychopathy. One of the creepiest things about this movie is the fact that the viewer never gets to see the driver's face- this adds an air of mystery to the movie that never quite goes away no matter how many times you watch it.

  • Whooah the driving scenes make me diiizzy. How fast are we going?

First time I saw that tanker I knew something was up, I'm like WTH? What kinda truck is that? I knew it was a tanker but somehow I had a funny feeling, call it instinct, that the driver was up to no good.

  • fantastic movie.

  • great movie. even though it was speilberg's first, it's still one of his best. and what a great opening!

  • Funny, nearly everyone in my county drives like an idiot! This truck driver must come from London!

  • then*

  • according to imdb, the driver is never seen. than whats that figure in the truck at 7:54???? a ghost??

  • they just dont make good movies like this anymore...

  • Still Speilberg's best lol! Except maybe Jaws...

  • gripping story, good performances

  • @only257 yh great film :)

  • @farooqmm1987 it is

  • Marvellous! I first saw this long ago and had forgotten how good it was. Thanks for uploading it. I don't think I missed much in the silent part 3.

  • i bet this guy will fly next time he decides to embark on a long journey loool!

  • @Jitpring Are you sure your not confused with Maximum Overdrive or Trucks?

  • OH MY GOD DUDE THANKS ALOT FOR UPLOADING THIS CAUSE I HAVE BEEN LOOKING EVERYWHERE TO SEE THIS VIDEO AGAIN i saw it once while i was lttle while i had only cable and i saw it and i was amazed on such a good movie it was and i wanted to see it again THANK YOU SIR

  • i remember watching this with my dad when i was 9 years old

    now im 32

memories i wish that could come back

  • fuuuuuuuckk i never toguht id see this movie again thank u so much i saw this movie like 13 years ago and incomplete i didnt know the name but it fascinated me

  • old movies like this were just good because they didn't need special effects it was just talent, now movies are cool but not as captivating as the old ones

  • MOVIES BACK THEN WERE THE BEST,THEY ACTUALLY HAD A PLOT AND A STORYLINE,TODAYS MOVIES ARE JUST CRAP,AND THE ACTORS LACK ALOT OF KNOW HOW AND LUSTRE

  • They don't make 'em like this anymore do they?

I sure miss the old days

  • Mister Dillon! Mister Dillon! someone is riding right behind me, with a HUGE coach!

  • cool thought

  • Friends, know this: this movie is NOT about road rage. It's about man vs. the machine. In other words, it's about the domination of man by the very technology he has created. Notice that the truck driver is merely a spectral figure, the "soul" of the machine.

  • @Jitpring. Can you preach somewhere else, faggot!

The movie is about a trailer trash truck driver who can't accept a car passing him. Kind of like an Obama supporter or sniveling Jew.

  • @TakeAShowerStinky cough cough racist cough cough

  • @123Peat1. Jew. Jew. Jew.

The truck driver is an obvious Obama supporter!

  • @TakeAShowerStinky what because you think obama is evil.

you fucking ignorant redneck trailer trash inbred sheep fucking gun toting bible waving moron

  • @123Peat1. Thank you for your kind words. Looking forward to Gezzball Obama losing in 2012.

  • @Jitpring dont be a pretentius tit this movie is just a long car chase just enjoy it and stfu

  • @statetheobv It's too bad that you're unable to see below the surface.

  • @Jitpring Great observation! Never thought about it that way, but it's true.

  • @hatmap NO ITS NOT TRUE .. U R STUPID TOO

  • @airkuna You need to be oppressed by communism again, Bela Lugosi!

  • @Jitpring

Notice the film school drop out, stating the obvious to nobody in particular.

  • @Jitpring the truck chooses him after he overtakes, for some reason it angers it and there on it tries to taunt and kill him.

  • @Jitpring Bullshit it's an excellent ripoff of the Vanishing Point film from 1971. The truck driver is a sociopath and he's probably done this before. Weaver plays a henpecked wimp, you want to wring his neck by the half hour mark LOL. A terrific performance. And Spielberg did a bang up job. It's *all* about road rage and Weaver's character's impotence.

  • @Jitpring you sir are a genius.

On a side note i love this movie only time i watched this and it is already is up there on my fav. list.

  • @Jitpring Sorry. I meant to give you a thumbs up, but accidently gave you a thumbs down

  • @Jitpring Sure... whatever. I say its about a guy trying to escape a killer trucker, I dunno how something this simple could be "man vs machine".

  • @Ryoku75 YEH, HE DOESN'T KNO WHAT HE'S TALKIN ABOUT

  • @airkuna He's one of those types who take simple films, add things of their own (which is okay), but then treats it as if its THE meaning. And somehow people see this as being smart.

Somone said that the film was about David running from his fears and finally facing and beating them in the end. Theres much more evidence to support that one than "Man vs Machine".

  • @Ryoku75 :D yeh..your version fits for the movie better..yea at the end he faces the duel ..the duel, which u can find during the whole movie ..

  • @Jitpring U R STUPID

  • @airkuna Well, you've shown me!

  • @Jitpring Were you meaning to post this on Maximum Overdrive pt1?

  • @Ryoku75 Haven't seen that one. Do you recommend it?

  • @Jitpring

No, that's what the movie "Maximum Overdrive" was about. This movie is an expose' of human character traits- some amusing, some dark, and some mysterious.

  • @Jitpring Great observation indeed. But after watching the movie today, it feels like man vs himself. Where David Mann is portrayed as this wimpy dude that is willing to conquer his fear but panics under pressure when he gets pushed. The truck is like a demon inside him that constantly challenges his fear over and over again until he finally learns how to conquer and defeat his own fear regardless of his wimpiness.

  • @eldo59 That can relate to ourselves when we think about all the challenges we go through everyday life time and time again.

  • @eldo59 The demon of fear. I can accept this interpretation. Nice work.

  • Damn! They almost hit the pedestrians at 1:18! Reminds me of all the dumbass pedestrians in Spokane that walk out in the middle of the street and saunter across. LOL

  • For all truck fans, Play from 9:11. Sounds like a cummins 220 jake brake.

  • okay thanks for the info.

  • Visit the area and Chucks Cafe! It's now called Le Chene on Sierra Hwy. You can find Le Chene online, twitter and facebook

  • still a great steven spielberg movie, and fear for the peter bilt 1960 truck, thanks.

  • @budelke actually was a 1955 peter built

  • @gasflame62 It was a 281 model with a 220 cummins.

  • @gasflame62 They used both trucks for different scenes

  • @TheBump465 They are still timeless. if you ask me. :)
