Awesome design, I'm glad to finally see someone actually use a lock/latch of some sort. Most of the time you can just push and it opens which wouldn't make it very secret. An easier design if you want to actually get in easier is to use rollers that just push the whole thing back instead of just hinging, giving you more room to get in.

Cool idea but a couple things. One, definitely put a baseboard molding on the bottom of the shelf so it matches. Second, one shelf looks very odd. Common sense tells you there is empty space under those stairs. If someone even thinks there is a hidden space under there with stuff in it that shelf is going to be the first thing they look at. With two of them, it doesn't look as out of place. Just a thought.
