I love AMD too, but for gaming Intel is totally the way to go. I mean you can safely take the i5 2500k to 5GHz with a cheap self contained water cooler.
At this 8.335 They should run Prime95 then 3DM11 - then we will see the truth. With my X3360 Win7 goes to run at 4.46 Ghz and sometimes CPUz starting without errors, but forget about Prime or something like that. Stable only at 4.038 GHz. For 24h is running at 3.8 GHz. 4.46 and 3.8 makes small difference for me. So records like that do not shows really nothing. It's just only fun video with nitrogen, brandmarks and music.
Yeah, and how about running Prime95 for about 12 hours and then opening all of the Adobe Master Collection applications and all the available web browsers?
I can vouche that AMD is a very good processor if you have access to liquid helium. Otherwise it overheats so much you could make an omelette on your heatsink, just buy Intel.
@eventfularse That must be the most "american" stupid comment I've ever seen. Sun is a star, earth is a planet, saran is a comany not stretch film, jello is a company not food, hershey's is a company not sauce. Have you got any more obvioustard comments?
@Sorgutentarer The funny thing is, I'm not American. Perhaps your comment must be the most "American" comment I've ever seen; since you jump to conclusions in an instant.
By the way, why get so anally retentive over a simple statement? It's like I practically insulted your mother or something looking at how you took it.
@eventfularse You stop roleplaying a lawyer for multinational corporations whose sole purpose is to make money, at everyone else's expense : when people in the profession and not some tv show gamer nerds, criticize their HOT products and compare them to the competitor's: then I'll stop replying to your comments.
Nobody who wants a cool computer, a cool laptop, nobody who deals in DAWs, music recording and production business SHALL, EVER, BUY, AMD, PRODUCTS.
@Sorgutentarer I don't think your elitist attitude to your indignations of AMD will convince many people. You are a prime example of someone who is too butthurt to accept the fact that there is competition in this world.
May I ask why you decided to reiterate such an inept act? Or are you too stubborn to be able to give a mature and straight-forward answer? Something tells me you'll just drone on about your unjustificational anecdotes in favour of your beloved Intel again.
A few things: 1. Why did they stop? Why didn’t they keep going until the CPU fried? 2. How were they changing the overclocking at runtime? I’ve only seen the ability to change the settings in the BIOS, not in Windows. Is that a new feature of the “Unlocked Performance” of the FX? 3. So AntiVir is a cycle sucker? :-D
@bodmondude The limitation lays in the voltage. Too much on the VCore will cause severe damage to the CPU, plus, every CPU has a limit where it will just not go any higher, since they werent designed with 8+GhZ in mind.
@unhandledException1 I believe it's a world record for a single CPU. The supercomputers and main frames tend to use numerous CPUs hooked up to act like one, giant CPU.
@GascaVaz You are probably using a different system than us :D (I am from Germany), 8,429 means 8.429 in US and english states. So it is 8 point 429 GHz :D

amd ferait mien de sortir leurs processeurs pour se rendre compte de leurs potentiels plutôt qu'un cirque sans valeur pour les futurs acheteurs avec du blé un 2 cv est capable de roulée à 300 km/h

Value is easy to get. They didnt test for any system stability, so shows no purpose for this all previous sort of overclocking.

any cause/reason for not going beyond this value?

so thats how amd got faster then intel for a second... always wondered...

why is it hard to get an computer up to 8 ghz?
modelearth 3 months ago
@modelearth Takes tons of power. It produces tones of heat and should just melt instantly at those speeds essentially.

if they can go 8.429 ghz, why cant they just go to 9? or 100 for that matter? Did that liquid nitrogen melt and the CPU shot up to 100 C?
What's the limitation?
