  • i was sat on some rocks today, i turned around to see a tonne of smoke. someone set fire to the dry grass leaving me and my friends to take the blame

  • i saw that too ! thank god i live in andover .

  • another fire started from no where this is suspiciuos.

  • May 17th 2009 A fire broke out in a large field on the border on Coon Rapids and Anoka right off of highway 10. Several Fire Departments were sent to the fire. Departments from all of Coon Rapids, the south side departments of Anoka, and parts of Ramsey. Nobody was injured and to make matters worse for the Firefighters a houe fire unexpectadly was ignighted a few blocks away.

  • @jeffgordon524 naw, everyone out here has mutual aid with everyone else, even the police

  • In our county in Clancy, Montana We get the police there and keep you people away and don't let you get this close. But they must do things different where your from.

  • low flying aircraft at 6:01 equals one thing ...everyone in front of you should have moved back to where you were

  • I live less than a mile from there, I could see it from my bedroom window.

  • I have a Kodak M340, If I ever come across something like this again. do you think my camera would do this good of a job or what would you recommend?

  • I'm not sure about the Kodaks. I liked a Fuji Fine Pix I used to use, but I would go with Cannon again. I want another power shot model for my next one, when ever that will be. Although, thinking about it now, an HD flip cam would be better and cheaper for high def video.

  • dylan jenson started this i go to school with the little shit

  • Dylan Jenson hmm? you don't say.. Thanks for contributing to the historic information.

  • I was working as a fuel truck driver at Bemidji Tanker Base that day. The C.L. 115 was dispatched to fight this fire. The response time for the 115 crew was about 2 hours.

  • wow...i was kinda there. I mean, i saw it a little bit, but i had a recital that day...and it didn't kno it was that bad. i live near there.;(

  • why were you in the woods with the fire? people die doing shit like that. And thats the last thing the fire department needs is for there to be civilians that they dont know about that are prancing around in a very dangorous spot. all power to you for recording the vid...but next time..stay out of the woods where the fire is.

  • yeah, I was going to run into the dry grass and get closer, but I felt the fear. I wasn't close enough to die, but I appreciate the concern for professional safety. I was sort of a first responder, so the perimeter wasn't discerned yet. I cleared out when the order was given.

  • I was watching from my neighbors house and my brother worked at the cub foods right next to that fire so my dad had to go pick him up so I went with him with some of my friends and we saw it up close! If ANY ONE IS WONDERING HOW IT STARTED IT WAS KIDS PLAYING WITH FIREWORKS!!!

  • I hear the kids name is Dylan Jenson? I though it was a control burn for developers. But, by hook or crook, did you put it on iCarley?

  • i was watching it from across the highway and i could easily see the smoke from my house 6 miles away

  • that was a pretty intense day,. I was over at the Green Mill and we were really hoping it was Wal-Mart burning to the ground. That place really needs a face lift. HAHA :D

  • Great job, man! That was an amazing video! Nice job with the music choice, photos and overall quality! 5/5. With videos like that, you can be a Youtube superstar. LoL But again, great freaking job!

  • Nice job Ray. The editing was great! Great choice of music.

  • Thanks

  • wasn't it behind Wallmart?

  • Yes it was.

  • I could see that fire from my friends house

  • Yeah that fire was crazy. We stood on my sisters deck with hoses but failed. Still burned it up.

  • Wow, crazy video, Ray. Liked it. What video editing software do you use?

  • I was trying to get into sony vegas, but for this I just used Windows Movie maker.

Won't be doing much more untill I find some help in this world. Homeless again. I could turn the RV into a video studio in the right parking situation.. However, I am not currently in that situation. It'll be coffee shop computers for a while here...

  • Never mind,

this was all done with a digital camera though? did you do that editing yourself? I ll have to have mine looked that, there's a purple glare in most of my videos. brand new camera too. Kodak M340

  • What kind of camera do you have?

  • i was working at davannis when this happened me and my manager stood outside for like a half hour lol

  • yummm, roast venison! Well the camera certain got an adventure on it's maiden voyage. BTW, have you seen my lighter.

  • Sunny acres burns almost every year.....

Except this year it melted off the back of someones plastic house......

  • You know, I figured it was a "control burn" that got out of control.

I'd kinda like to know who the masonic dude with the Mickey Mouse ears was. I'm sure they'd love to build Sunny Acres 2 back there.

  • Some dork starts it on fire every year...this year it was 2 kids playing with firecrackers in the super dry grass...with tons of wind!

When they showed the news footoage of a bunch of people standing around the house with the siding melted off....I couldn't stop laughing. I know that sounds terrible...but how pathetic that we live in houses that can melt!!

  • that was right by where i live in sunny acres

  • Did you have to evacuate? I heard they were getting people out of Sunny Acres when I rolled through.

  • Dang man!! This footage kicks some butt over the local news last night. Got some smooth editing equipment too. Thanks

  • I noticed that too. I sent a few pic to WCCO and KSTP, but it's old news now. Still maybe I'll publish a few in the Coon Rapids Harold.

  • beautiful fire! What kind of camera are you using that takes high-speed photographs of a chopper that looks like the blades aren't spinning?

I love how the deer is freaking out and the goose is just chillin'

  • It's a Canon A590 on auto mode. 8mega pixels. I had been using a canon a560 for work (7.1 m.pixels), but it was the companies camera.

This camera is perfect for me!10 mega pix would have been overkill.

The dear! I missed the gooses reaction actually. I saw it in the viewfinder but the video didn't start until a second later. The dear almost ran into the goose and she spread wings wide. It was great. Probably didn't fly away, and returned to chilling because of all the little baby geese.

  • the goose shows up again closer to the end I think, in the frame for a few seconds acting like nothing is wrong :)

  • Where was this near ? What Street ?

  • Behind the Walmart off Round Lake Blvrd. So I guess Northdale & Roundlake is the closest intersection.

  • hey ray ... fantastic filming .. you are there ... mahalo and aloha ... xoxnanette

is my cousin kitty ok ... she lives in coonrapids ... i gotta call her ...

  • thanks Nanette. No one was injured. I'm sure your cousin is doing wonderful. It's interesting to learn of all these other folks living in Coon Rapids.

  • Nothing brings the crowds out like a fire. Nice camera, the a590, I just got my first Canon, the SD1100, love it!

  • Yeah "Gawkers"! The guy with the Micky mouse ears is suspicious to me.

I was thinking of going with the A2000 but there's no viewfinder. So doing things like tracking hellicopters while zoomed in, outside in bright sunlight, would be challenging. I do wanna check out that 6x optical zoom though. Maybe that will be my next cam.. I'd love to see what the SD1100 can do!

  • I filmed my "Ypsilanti Freighthouse" video entirely with the 1100 in beautiful HD, it picked up some wind noise because of the position of the mic, no complaints, I can carry a small foam screen for that. I agree, the viewfinder is a big plus in bright sunlight.

  • Holy cow you got pretty close! We tried to get over there to check it out, but by that time they had round lake blvd blocked. I'm just a few blocks past the Anoka fairgrounds.

  • Yep. As you saw, I got in right before the firetrucks. There was a gateway to ground zero via the walmart garden center. No squads ever blocked it off.

Anoka fairgrounds? so you know about the Alient Tech amunitions factory near there. At first, I thought that's what was burning, the fire seemed so huge! I'm glad it was just grass.

  • This is the first of me hearing/seeing anything about this, I'll assume this was more in Coon Rapids than anything, right? I thought Anoka was fully developed(bus+houses). I don't live more than a hop and a skip from the area. Where is the new light rail station, the farthest north one that I know of is in Minneapolis. Are they working the Northstar to ELk River yet? Is that this one?

  • No Guru, there are till vast areas of wilderness and wetlands in Anoka. AS well there should be! It's as developed as it needs to be, in my opinion., yes. the "Northstar Line" heads out of the Twins stadium, downtown, and runs through Fridley and Coon Rapids, with another stop in Anoka on it's way north to Elk River and Big Lake.

  • I live just south of there. Had no idea cuz i slept right through it.

  • So you wake up in the evening (with a big smile on your face)?

I live a bit south of there too. A few blocks from the new light rail station.

  • Im not to sure how far that is from Robinson Drive near Coon Rapids High School but yeah my gf lives around there.

  • About a mile.
