@KitchenMarshall BECAUSE THE NUMBER IN THE VIDEO TITLE REPRESENTS THE GUITAR, ALMOST LIKE A STOCK NUMBER FOR THE COMPANY SELLING IT,NOT A SERIAL NUMBER. IT IS VERY MIS-LEADING!
Some guitars are more 'musical' than others, this one sounds like a particularly musical instrument-an accident of construction-we have all come across them (maybe not 1954 Strats...) they present no obstacles, they want to be played(!)
I spent most of my work hours listening and watching these phil x guitar reviews of really expensive/rare guitars I will probably never play or buy lol.... Personality with guitar tone and skill sells!
@MrMalq A Squier strat and a '54 strat are both gonna sound like strats. One will obviously sound better, but they'll both have that 'stratty' tone to them. That said, these guitars do have slight tonal differences to them, and if you can't hear it that's pretty much your problem :P
That was fucking great dude you crack me the fuck up!
i HAVE A 57 VINTAGE REISSUE TOBACCO SUNBURST THAT IS SOOOO SWEET. i DoN'T KNoW HoW IT COMPAREs T0 THAT '54, AND i SUPP0SE i NEVER WILL BUT IT GeTS ME JUsT AS EXcITED AS THAT '54 MAKES YOU.
@Ex7a5y A couple of hours if you want to get to Phil's playing ability, but it would take like a million years to play like Dave Mustaine, or like Bombora
@Kido4Life this store is mostly for collectors im guessing but even so it cant be much older then this because 1954 was the first year for strats or is it another kind of guitar ?
Correction: For the record, I believe it was Ronnie Montrose who played guitar on Edgar Winter's 'They Only Come Out At Night'. Rick Derringer produced it. Derringer played some on the record but the vast majority of the guitar work is Montrose. I'm not saying Phil's wrong, just misinformed perhaps. It's like on the early KISS albums when Bob Kulick did the Ace tracks. The pick attack was the dead giveaway for me. Same with T.O.C.O.A.N. you can tell that's Montrose playing guitar on most of it.
Well thanks. You just made me realize that even if I can someday afford a '54 strat, I certainly don't deserve one. You sir are fecking awesome! God I wish I could play like that.
Fender pickguards from 1954 to 1959 were made from a new material (at that time) called ABS or vinyl. These pickguards are not bakelite! (though the knobs and pickup covers are often called "bakelite", they are actually polystyrene).
to me it's a pleasure just to be able to hear it, here, deep in the jungles of brazil with monkeys all around and probably not even one of the cheapest fender guitars in an area of a few square quilometers
Wow this is awesome man!!!!! I always wanted to hear more modern heavy rock from a 1954 Fender Strat. I was wondering out of interest, can you actually shred a '54 Strat to thrash metal like you can with say a Dean Razorback? That would be something I like to see!!!

I think this is one of my favorites from your vids PhilX, probably also due to the fact that this might be my favorite strat from the ones that have been demoed at frettedamericana over all this time. There were some strong contenders early on when you had that Marshall Studio 15 - i remember the strat on which you thought the bridge was the neck pickup, as it was really huge, but still bitey and detailed. But this one really seems to be special. As always,a joy to listen!
