@crazypackersfan Yeah! That one was AWESOME! But the funniest one was Road Runner vs Coyote. The Road Runner won it at a ridiculous score of 59 to -12! Poor Cartoon Network. It's dead. Boomerang's the good one nowadays. Boomerang...where cartoons go to die. -_- (sad face)
you see the big games are the same but different the adult had football we had looney toon....men I hate CN for what it became and sad part is that new generation are getting crap and calling it good while us older are suffering for the old days to come bax
Woah! Since when did these old Cartoon Network "Big Games" start showing up on YouTube?! I've looked forever for these and could never find them, but today I've not only found Roadrunner vs Coyote but also Bugs vs Daffy. Thanks so much for uploading this! Now my CN nostalgia is complete.
The "Road House" reference was actually one of many movie references you wouldn't expect to see on Cartoon Network. During the heyday of their promo department, the network referenced "Scream", "The Shining", "Blair Witch Project", and "Pulp Fiction" (to name just a few).
The main difference between CN then and now (putting aside live action for a moment) is that now it's a kids network. Before it was a network that kids could watch. There's a difference.
@HulkieD I remenber seeing those type of promos. My all time favorites were the two Scooby Doo promos that made a homage to Scream & Blair Witch Project. Way before I was old enough to see either movie of course.
Nice shout out to Chuck Jones. I miss these specials.

My favorite was the Bugs vs. Daffy one because of the twist of Daffy coming back to win, which was totally unexpected.

I wish they still did this, but it seems like the Bugs vs. Daffy Big Game in 2001 was the last one.

I hate live action on Cartoon Network but I don't mind this cause it was always once a year and more entertaing.

Woah, they actually got John Madden to help commentate. You know something is good when he steps foot in the commentators booth.

This clip shows how the powerful voice of Pat Summerall can make anything seem legitimate and tense.

Isn't that a shot of Arrowhead Stadium at 9:14? If it is, I think it looks great with all that CGI for the field.
Topherlee2 2 years ago
That's Arrowhead. The next one (the Bugs/Daffy one), I think they may have used an overhead shot of Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.
