Like most malware, no doubt it relies on the user to install it (possibly through deception) rather than getting in through a vulnerabiity in the OS.
This is basically a risk you take with *any* software you install from a less-than-reliable source, on *any* platform. As an application runs with the user's priveleges, it can do anything the user can do - including deleting files.
OS X (and recent versions of Windows) even protects you from accidentally running such malware by warning you the first time you try to run it, thus preventing it from masquerading as a non-executable file.
I suppose this video is meant to scare Mac users into buying Symantec's products, but franky it's only going to fool the most ignorant of consumers.
I think the video is pretty honest about the virus, they clearly say they wouldn't recommend doing this on your home computer.
I'm a Mac user and I love OS X but the fact is that viruses do exist for the machine. I'm not saying you should buy an antivirus but you should be aware of what is going on in the world of Mac Viruses.
