  • matt lauer is fucking idiot

  • i read this book, amazing! he trained nearly his entire life to become a SEAL.

  • 8:11 he wants to tear Matt Lauer up for asking that question.

  • RIP Seal Team 10

  • Matt Lauer is an ass for putting him on the spot like that. He asked him if he would kill on television...

  • One bad dude.

  • I feel bad because he will never fully die because death is too scared of him

  • Damn. this guy is a smoking hot, tall glas of water.

  • I think this mission would have been better suited for Rangers. If I was the colonel in charge I would have sent 20 Rangers, since they train in these types of mountainous regions.

The area where they were trapped is described as something akin to a pennisula.

I think that played a role in them being ambushed. Also, the fact the taliban had RPGs and mortars made it akin to an army battlion against 4 guys. Only mini nukes could assure them an escape then.

  • @390bullitt1968 Seals train in mountainous areas as well in 3rd and or 4rth phase of buds.

  • @keekTHEsneak805 - If I jump into a lake full of 12 foot alligators with one knife, what do you think will happen. Anyone headed to the most hostile region in the world, where every road has IED's, is not thinking. This has 0 to do with FREEDOM, LIBERTY, or any other high sounding principle. It is all about the Caspian Sea pipeline. America is in Afghan in order to build the PIPELNE. The War Merchants support this fiasco as they profit. Kids,WAKE UP. OBL had no role in 9-11. NONE. NONE!!!

  • I guess people will never stop calling all Special Operators "Special Forces"

  • you cannot legally execute prisoners. Especially noncombatants. Waffen SS were notorious for for 'executing' prisoners. It went down in the books as 'murder' not execution. Rightfully, in my opinion.

  • @7mikethebike This is going to sound bad to some people, but were the lives of 3 fucking goat herders worth the lives of 19 servicemen? 11 of which I believe were Navy SEALs. No. What he did was MORALLY right, but it was SITUATIONALLY wrong. Sometimes morals have no place. In my honest opinion, the goat herders should have died. They resulted in the death of 19 people. No one's life is worth that much.

  • @COD5Junky SEALs and some other professional soldier types make a big deal out of integrity, and honor. There is no honorable or legal way to kill prisoners. Sometimes, on a battlefield, you have a choice of expediency or honor.

    SEAL code follows

I serve with honor on and off the battlefield. The ability to control my emotions and my actions, regardless of circumstance, sets me apart from other men. Uncompromising integrity is my standard. My character and honor are steadfast

  • this guy is a beast

  • God bless you Marcus.

  • I've read the book and listen to the audiobook at least one a week Marcus is my hero. Makes me wish I woulda attempted to be a SEAL

  • @24kdiesel Me to, I first discovered who he was in a book caled "Behind Enemy Lines" I feel so horrible of what happened to his friends :(

  • Man that has survived hell and came to tell the story he is a very inspiring man. God bless his team.

  • that interviewer. . .sheesh. give him a break man

  • hard to watch the interviewer, glibly ask him those tough questions.

  • Fuck the democrats. Seals get all my respect, especially Marcus. As for the fucks who shot his dog.. They got to be fucking glad the police got them before Marcus unleashes hell on them. Marcus... You get all my respect, I salute you and I love your book.

  • Sad when they have to worry about going to jail once they get back to the US. What has this country come to?

  • @Rightwingman09 a bunch of liberal pussies. thats whats its come to

  • galoob

  • You are my hero...

  • 3:38 "It was a good time"

  • Mr. Marcus i have been a fan since i first read your book... i've been planning on making a youtube account but i decided today after seeing this interview i would just so i could say thank you! so thank you, thank you, thank you. Praying for y'all and God bless :)

  • amazing story Marcus, best of luck bro and god bless all Navy SEALs

  • Just finished this book last night--I can't recommend it enough.

  • bought the book. could not not put it down. amazing story.

  • Guys. I read about this story in the book Behind enemy lines. i loved the story so i looked it up. Please recognize what really happened and dont just think "oh, its another boring news story" no, your wrong if you think that

  • why would they have been allowed to just execute goat hearders?

  • @TheRoadEnd100

They wouldn't have been "allowed" but they might have survived. There were only FOUR of them out there, on their own. Sometimes rules have to be broken.

  • matt Lauer = Duche Bag.

  • @watchingpictures Propaganda?? Did you even read his book it's a step-by-step documentary that recounts every event that led up to them getting attacked, during the attack, all the way to Luttrell's unbelievable rescue. The book literally is an eyewitness account of Op RedWing and in no way shape or form "propaganda." I'm sorry sir, but you lose.

  • Im going to write a report about him.

  • I was a SEAL then, I was with Michael Murphy in BUD/s class 235 and was a good friend of Lt. Commander Erik Kristenson. I was on team 5 when this occurred. Erik named the operation after his favorite hockey team.

  • @Gandora00 bullshit

  • @Gandora00 that is very cool, it would be sad if you were lying but very cool

  • Comment removed

  • it's funny how Marcus says he acted like a fucking liberal, but in the book he states that decision was based off his Christian Soul.hmmmm

  • there should be a movie about this. someone make one

  • @1122aalleexx they're filming it now

  • @1122aalleexx 2013, peter berg is directing it.

  • @herbusmc1 cool man have a great life

  • I somewhat agree with BUDDs only one guy knows what really happened up there and he is making a profit off of his dead friends. Maybe he should be giving the proceeds to the families of the 3 guys that were lost up there. He got out of the service and had to live with his mom until he got paid on the book, and then signed up with the motivational speaker company and then he really started living the life. Don't get me wrong I'm sure he's a good guy, I don't think he handled things correctly.

  • @herbusmc1 He set up a charity for wounded soldiers returning home, and there was nothing he could have done for his friends, he crawled away after they had all been killed he was the only one left.

  • @Budds233 burn in hell you sorry worm. You are a disgrace. you should have respect for this man. And also he cant stand it because he was down on a ridge to where he couldn't get to Mike Murphy, his best friend, he couldn't do anything for him, heard him screaming his name before he died, also he didn't ask the goat herders to help him, they found him severly injured at a watering hole and offered him assistance. Get your facts straight dickweed.

  • haha i saw that, 43 u say? and hah yep thats ALL my job entails and if u think thats all i am then u got some problems man, and thats weird cause my job is one of the most highly decorated jobs in the military so whatever, i respect that u served but ur an asshole, have fun behind that computer, i see u just joined youtube today as well so its hard to believe ur shit.....

  • @idestroydrums Good luck with your career bro. You guys are alright. We had a pecker checker attached to my platoon. He is a good soul, he saved my dick from some nasty Gonorrhea I caught in Pusan Korea. You don't have to respect me for serving, dosn't mean that I am a good person. Trust me there are plenty of losers in the military. I'm just busting your balls.

  • ah ur a "Pecker Checker"?? You will have a good time when ur ship pulls into Korea and you're spending your days examining infected dicks...LOL Good move bro...haha Your right you wern't talking to me but I couldn't resist..I'm retired and don't have much to do these days. Good luck with your career bro!!

  • @herbusmc1 haha good comeback bro, at someone who wasnt even talking to u....haha i made this account a while a go man sorry its about drums fuck head....and oh funny! i actually recently enlisted back in feb and im a hospital corpsman so i dont think u know my deal bro

  • @Budds233 how disrespectful of u! Who the fuck r u to say he's a tool? Wtf is ur deal! Fuck off!! Where u there? Fuck no, ur behind a fucking computer!

  • @idestroydrums You're right you don't know my deal, just play your gay little drum set and let the men discuss this topic...LOL

  • How many gunfights do you have under YOUR belt, Buds233? And how much frag are you packing around in your bag of bones?

  • Why do you people keep calling this guy a hero? If he is a hero he would have fought tooth and nail in those mountains and died up there with his shipmates. Instead of fighting he hauled his fat ass down the mountain and begged some goat herders to hide him in the village,he even admits in his book that he couldn't stand the sound of his buddies calling his name for help This guy keeps changing his war stories. Also his mentor Billy Sheldon was only driver in the Army not some SF guy..TOOLS..

  • if there was UVA footage you would see Luttrell running at warp speed away from the firefight..LOL what a tool this guy is..LMFAO!!!

  • @Budds233 - Your comments here and on other videos have so much hatred towards fellow Americans (American servicemen)!? Did Luttrell have to die to please YOU!? Who are you!? I'll tell you who you're not - an American; nor, a PATRIOT fighting with this guy! And - you call yourself "Budds233!?" Why is that? Do you hate Bud/s and SeALS? Are you the ANSWER or have insight into this? Or, are you a plant by someone to arouse suspicion? I, as a US Navy veteran, think you're just an ASSHOLE!

  • It wasn't released, but it did exist and was cited in several documents and books- the official account is different from Luttrell. Not saying hes wrong, or bad, he truthfully told his experience in the battle.

SEAL arn't supermen, they are human beings with bodies just like everyone less (if a little less flabby ;) ), and that is what makes them so exceptional, is that they push their limits and train hard.

  • Matt Lauer is just plain disrespectful. Wow. This man is a SEAL god dammit!

  • he is my hero

  • well there goes the book..

  • im reading his book as of right now, its my favorite book so far

  • "I turned into a blanking liberal. A half -asses no logic nitwit." Any American who loves his/her country should feel the same way about those stupid nitwit liberals. Luttrell and Murphy are true AMERICAN HEROES.

  • @zako7010 Stupid, I love (irony) how these conservatives sounds EXACTLY like Al-Qaida etc...

  • > it was a good time < !!! awesome !

  • Should've executed the damn goat herders.

  • @Yourdailylaughs I Doubt you were there, so i wouldnt assume, stop listing to the media.

  • @Yourdailylaughs i am pretty sure a Navy Seal would no if it was 80-100 men. i think if he said it was then it was. 4 navy seals would very easily take 20-30 men as said in the book.

  • @tannerandbrendan

No group of 4 men can take 20 well armed and experienced mountain fighters, much less "very easily". On the other hand, one man can take on hundreds of un-trained or un-motivated men.

Luttrell remembers about 200 from his guess- Remember, when you're being blown up and shot at from every possible angle from a very large group of men, it dosen't matter who you are, you're not going to have a very good idea of what is going on. UAV footage showed about 50.

  • @supertacticalbacon UAV footage?... In the years I've followed this story and these guys who were involved in the fight I have never heard of any UAV footage.. What website or book or what did you read this on? And Navy SEALs are way more trained than 20 well armed and experienced mountain fighters.. It doesn't even compare. These guys aren't just men, their super soldiers.

  • Read the book cover to cover. Would read it a hundred times over and my mind will never change. Those four men are my heros and the absolute reason for my choice in enlisting in the military

  • It wasn't 80-100. Most report him fabricating that estimate, with intelligence from the helicopters along with those looking around, there was a more accurate estimate of 20-30 people.

  • "...4 of you, 80-100 of them, this was above and beyond."

    "It was a good time."

  • @drifter8027 seal to the end marcuss is lol

  • i think these SEALs are double HEROS for not killing the innocent goat herders. once you know the ending, it's different, but at the time, it was the right moral decisions, and makes them doubly great men.

many afghans risked their lives to protect him and wouldn't sell him out, and they too are heros. it's like instant good karma for him. he wouldn't kill the 3, and a whole village saves him.

  • @sherhak It's never the right moral decision to murder innocents...never

  • @Giagantus absolutely. i respect him for that. i think that makes him a true hero. maybe it was his good karma that had a whole village of afghans risking their lives to save his, taking care of him for 6 days. what goes around, comes around... so true in his case.

  • Matt Lauer is the worst interviewer ever...

  • Wow Marcus is about to answer and he cuts Marcus off and not just cuts him off but to show he bashed the liberals. I hate him for that. So disrespectful. He risked his life for our freedom. Marcus deserves better than that!

  • Matt needs to STFU when he's talking. The interview is about Marcus, not him.

  • 9 terrorists are pissed that Luttrell lived.

  • I just finished reading this incredibly moving and conversational account of the most harrowing experience I can imagine. This man and his comrades are superhuman. The end of this interview choked me up.

  • wow, all i can say, at 8:09, that was moving

  • @frogman414 words can't describe the respect I have for you and your comrades. You are all amazing men, and I aim to serve along side you all one day. SEALs or bust.

  • this guy needs to shut the fuck up! let him speak its his fucking story, marcus luttrell is a very amazing man

  • matt lauer you are one ignorant man.

  • It never stopped to amaze me how somebody doesn't show respect to this kind of men and yet Mr. Luttrell and other Navy SEALs bother to protect their unrespectful asses. Words cannot begin to describe how much respect I have for this man.

  • How the hell can you dislike this video? really..?

  • Marcus Luttrell - there are no words.

I salute you and thank you.

  • I can't thank you enough for your service Marcus. Men like you and your team are what make this country great.

  • God Bless Luttrell and all our men and women in the armed forces, and Matt Lauer needs to get curbstomped for asking those questions

  • What an asshole with his questions.

  • I just read this book and my God, there is not a word that can describe the courage these men displayed. I could not agree more with Luttrell on the issue of the liberal minded media and court systems in the US handcuffing and ultimately endangering these soldiers. This interview sucked, so insensitive and no human emotions or thought of comfort for Luttrell's pain. God Bless our troops!

  • They are planning on turning this into a movie. It somewhat reminds me of Bravo Two Zero involving the British Special Operations. All I would've felt was terror if I was in that situation.

These men are so brave to do these things so I can sleep safely at night and complain about stupid things in the morning.

Special Thanks to all members of the Armed Forces.

  • Marcus thank you so much uve gone through a lot of stuff from this to hailey needing open heart surgery now marcus you are just flat out amazing

  • great interview. he asked good questions to get his emotions out. wish it were longer but then I am going to buy that book now.

  • matt lauer, I think got back at him in the end with those annoying last ques. How dare he put such childish ques. for someone who had been thru so much. typical liberal.

  • he shoulda just let marcus luttrel talk ive wanted to hear him talk about it for along time,,,,,,

  • Oh my god! Punch Lauer in the face already!!

  • @negait

What the fuck, why? Because he conducted an interview? You must have tourettes or something.

  • I could tell the interviewer was a little bit of a dick wink.

  • amazing man and best book i have ever read! thank you sir!

  • Marcus is a true warrior. The asshole interviewing him doesn't even have the capacity to grasp his valor. God Bless Marcus Luttrell. He is truly an amazing man!

  • he is a hero, more than a human

  • What a douchbag. He starts the interview by grilling Marcus on the very reason he feels guilty for his comrade's death. It's like he's stabbing the man, You can tell he's in pain the entire interview just by the terseness of his responses and his facial expressions. Matt's making him relive his trauma, his own personal hell, on national television.

  • hooyah marcus!!!!

  • Lone Survivor is EXCELLENT. Love you, Marcus!

  • i read lone survivor when i was about 13 and it inspired me to want to serve for my country and be a navy seal

my goal is to one day be half the man marcus and his team were

    thank you for your service

  • "i died on that mountain too sir" right as he said that, it touched my heart

  • 5:27

    Lords of Karma my brother.

  • matt lawers like do you still second guess that vote every day? what do you think matt. really he was being an asshole

  • 8 people are going straight to hell, and WISH they could be SEALs but are too much of pussies to be one.

  • goat herders ruin every serious operation

  • Whenever my back starts throbbing at work and I feel like absolute shit, I think about Marcus on that mountain. Suddenly, my back doesn't hurt that bad after all............

  • Marcus Luttrell needs to run for the Presidency, and his brother run for VP. These two boys are ones I'd be so honored to stand behind!!! When one loves his country as much as he does, it doesn't get any better then that. I have SO much respect for him and ALSO HIS PARENTS!!!! XOX

  • Lauer was really insensitive after asking him the vote question. He responded, and Lauer's response had nothing to do with it. Good reporting on the one patriot you will ever talk too. I wish the people at NBC weren't biased morons

  • Just finished this book and its one of the best books i've ever read.

  • Im 16. I have read his book about halfway, im at the part when they jumped down the second cliff, and i just want to say, Marcus and his 3 friends, are the bravest, toughest people i have ever heard about! They inspire me to never, ever give up. To never give in or buckle. And i thank them for defending this country. And honor them for their outstanding bravery.

  • He says in the book he was 6'5" and 230lbs when they deployed to hindu kush mountains

  • I love the fact he is man enough to admit in writing and on tv that he wishes he would have executed the goat herders. Now not saying that would have saved the team still. But alot better odds. And in the book, they all agreed to turn themselves in for the shooting too if they did it. A group of true men. Its said it turned out how it did.

  • Stand up guy, uptmost respect.

  • Humble guy ... Very likeable and he is fucking tall! I bet he had fun trying to conceal himself as a sniper

  • oh and i love how the lberal media had to slip in how he bashes liberals in his book. the guy is a hero and if the citizens of this country had half the patriotism Marcus has there would be no liberals and this country would be alot better off.

  • Hell of a guy.

  • Iam dutch and this man is a hero!

    very respectful

    mentally aware.. and stabile

    and went through hell

  • This man is a real hero...not Lady Gaga, not Green Day, not most (not all, some are good) of the actors and entertainers for that matter...if only Americans were still patriotic and revered true heroes.

  • i wish i could be a man like this. to be able to serve my country to the fullest

  • what a great man! i have more respect for this guy and all the other military men and women then you guys can imagine!! we are so blessed and lucky to have guys like him to be surving our country and giving up their lives for us! god bless these men and women!

  • Thank you marcus for writing this book and servkng our country my heart goes out to danny axe and murphy and all those thhar have been killed serving the u.s. I plan on inlisting to be a seal as soon as i turn thank yoh for the inapiration and fuck the liberals!

  • same last name as me, win?

  • Can't believe this guy is participating in the librul media.

  • This man is the most inspiring guy ever wishes go out to u Luttrell i cant put down you book you made me want to be a SEAL thanks for the inspiration

  • Civilians use the term Special Forces wrong way too often...

  • @sgtschmitty8013 too true man too true

  • 3:32-3:40. Pure Respect, Purely indescribable.

  • Navy SEALs are not Special Forces. Special Forces are an Army unit. Navy SEALs are a Special Operations Force. Stupid news anchor.

  • @masteradnin Army Special Forces, or the Green Berets, are a unit. Special forces is a broad term used by civilians to describe special operations forces. When someone says U.S. Special Forces, they could mean a number of things. So no he is not a "stupid news anchor," rather he is a man trying to respectably present this story using a term that is commonly misinterpreted.

  • @SuppressedZen Yes, and he is using the term incorrectly like most people. If you asked a Navy SEAL if he was in the Special Forces, he would say no, I was in the Navy SEALs. Special Forces is not interchangeable with SEALs, Rangers, MARSOC, Force Recon, Para Rescue, or Combat Controller. They are all together different units. Furthermore, if the news anchor was talking about physics and stated work and energy are the same, that too would be under scrutiny; the same applies here.

  • Marcus L. will never admit it but he is a hero of this country along with his men who paid the ultimate price. Thank you to Marcus, his men that were with him that day, and all in the special operations community. We will never know not only what they sacrifice but what their families also sacrifice. It's not the politicians that make this country great (far from it), it's our men and women in uniform, who are on the ground in a culture so different from our own, who are hunting down the enemy

  • This video should been shown to every idiot who knows nothing about war, but talks as if they've written the book on it. I'm tired of liberals and anti-Americans calling the U.S. murderers and civilian killers, when every situation is a life or death situation. Sure, sometimes innocent people are killed, in this case, they let them go and they turned out to be in bed with the taliban.

  • Sea Air and Land is USMC.

    Sea/land is SEALs

  • @Future0311 uhh no sea air and land is SEALs and USMC...is it really that hard to google something?

  • for the 7 people who disliked yall are wrong. If you really know marcus in person he is a great guy.

  • @Smartperson911 like you do..

  • @Str33tFiGhTeR1 i do what?

  • The interviewer needs to shut the hell up and let the illustrious man speak.

  • That man has shown the world just what it means to never give up...

  • Marcus's book says:

They didn't do anythin wron, but we are goin to kill them, because their relatives are accused.

Same like if your great-uncle was accused of runnin a stoppin sign, then they give you the ticket, because you are his relative, and he ate dinner over at your house.

Also, we are goin to go to their land and kill them, because they don't like us, the book says. I don't say that, his book says it. But merely it repeats the propaganda given to them by the infiltrators above

  • Marcus should be president. he got good values and charactor...and hes a hero

  • wow, 8:05-8:24 his reaction is moving

  • how can anyone not say he is a huge war hero? read his book. youll change your mind.i salute you marcus luttrel. god bless you man.

  • @ClupeGuitar thats damn right. all the media are assholes.

  • Im only 13 but I read the book and it was amazing and he and his team were amazing

  • "I died on that mountain" i cant find words to describe it. Marcus is incredible man.

  • This Matt interview guy must be stupid. I can't believe he would ask " do you feel guilty for being alive when your friends were killed" my dad was on a navy search and seizure team and one of his best friends died in an operation and I know from talking to him about that how emotional questions like that are. Sorry he asked you that Marc

  • @grimreaper1171

i knnow! what an asshole. you dont ask war heroes that. all the media sucks and are a bunch of liberal dickheads. i trust you know this though

  • I read the book it was pretty good what are some other good books?

  • matt laurer is a piece of shit! He makes countless blunders and shows no emphay to Luttrell. Scumbag!

  • Lutrell is a true American hero and Lauer doesn't give him the respect he deserves. Lauer obviously has NO understanding of war and how soldiers are wired. Lutrell looked like he wanted to rip Lauer's head off at the end of the video.

  • what a guy, a real man to say the least

  • If you don't want to be interviewed and answer the questions, you don't go on the show

  • They should really consider making a movie on lone survivor

  • I luved his book these were some strong guys salute all and escpeccialy axe mikey and murph

  • After what he's been through, I truly feel bad for him and the hard ships he's gone through and the friends he's lost. but after I read the book I can honestly say that I would not like him as a person. He's kind of a self centered person from what I see in the book. Just because all this happened to him and he fights in the SEALS doesn't mean he is automatically the best person in the world. Also, to equate killing people to the work of God is a load of crap

  • The ending gave me chills

  • Just finished the book. Sounds like some of the greatest human beings I've had the honor of sharing this planet with...

  • matt has some balls being such a prick to this guy....

  • He said it would be worth spending the REST OF HIS LIFE in prison to bring his friends back. And he meant it.

There is NO Taliban Jihad soldier on earth who would make that statement.

  • When the camera pulls back at 1:00, the size of Marcus Luttrell juxtaposes against that of the weeny Matt Lauer. He looks like he could rip Matt's head off with his hands.

  • 0:10-0:12 a completely uninformed statement. Not to belittle what happened, it just bugs me that he stated that as fact, when it really doesn't even make sense.

  • Marcus Luttrell has to live with the pain of his decision for the rest of his life, while fucked up politicians who were the bastards who put such military red tape on them get to sleep soundly at night. Respect for Luttrel & all NavySeals, SpecialForces people. Fight to end red tape in the military!

  • Fucked up military red tape. Just kill the fucking goat herders and the boy. Simple as that. That isn't murder, its a convert mission, this is where the US military fails and where Israeli military succeeds. Israeli special forces would have no qualms about killing civilians to prevent them getting compromised. Comrades over civilians any day!

  • This man and all of his fallen comrades, (Danny, Mikey, Axe and SEAL Team 10) are an incredible representation of what the men and women of the armed forces have to contend with in that unrelenting region. There can be no louder cry of "hero" than the one echoed for these fine gentlemen!
