@richardarichter123 Yes, two of the holes in the injection cylinder block are for cartridge heaters which are hooked up to a temperature controller. You can find a couple of videos of the injection molder in action on my YouTube channel page.
@richardarichter123 The short answer is yes it smells. It is not terrible but I wouldn't do molding inside of my house. (I have it in the garage) Recently I built a box around my molder and have it power vented to the outside.
@richardarichter123 With the power vent the fumes are not an issue. It doesn't take much to get rid of them. I used a cooling fan from an old microwave oven and some standard 5 inch ducting to blow the fumes out the door. My vent setup is shown in my "Pen Cap Connector Injection Molding (complex mold)" video.
@scorch1974 Glad you liked it. I talked to a friend in NC who has a neighbor building a home made mill using castings from a small furnace (Gingery type). I guess quite a few of these lathes have been built. I have the book "little Bertha" and have already built and used my furnace quite a bit. Enjoyed your video.
@juanoporras Thanks. It took me about 5 years to get my lathe this far. I have worked on a lot of other projects during that time so it was five years part time. It is still not complete. (there will probably always be something to improve on it.)
does it heat up the plastic so it can be injected into the mold

Nice work. I'm starting a web fund raiser for people to pitch in and buy you a used SB hand wheel for your tail stock.

@gwheyduke Your comment made my day. You are right that blob of aluminum is really sad looking.

nice video, I liked the video edition, short but concise as well as the music you used.
on a separate topic how long did it take you to make the lathe?
cheers.
