IVONA TTS - American English Voice

I've only used the free online IVONA service (trying to learn some Polish) but it's very good. I've compared it to Google Translate, which is rubbish by comparison. Comparing both with recordings of actual people speaking, IVONA is much closer to the way people really talk. A few months back, Google Translate was giving the pronunciation of "because" as "bay cows" It's improved slightly now but I'd still trust IVONA to do a better job..

It's definitely not a human voice, but it sounds like human... It is the next innovating polish product.

I think it was real speech recorded, then voice parameters were extracted into digital mathematical formulas which were organised and chalked up to texts combinations...

I think the quality of product is so high, because Polish in pronounciation is more difficult than English.

It's true that the synth's voice is a voice of a lector but it's surely no that simple as you say. Take into consideration different pronunciation of the same letter and syllable placed in a various parts of speech and sentence. Notice that the synthesizer distinguishes imperative from interrogating or affirmative mode. According to the statement of the producer, it uses some sort of AI to choose from thousands of so called fons with several versions imitating different moods of the lector.
