@Ghost9909 I mean she doesn't understand what's going on with the Fed and paper money. She still would have been a better governor that Obama-tool O'Malley that we have in MD.
Libertarian, Republican, Democrat whatever. All these meaningless labels. Just get rid of all of them and vote for the PERSON not the party. Give the power to the people and provide voting transparency! We need an entire congressional overhaul and start over. What we have now is a joke. What everyone needs to remember is we the taxpayers pay their salaries, and yet we are essentially robbed through corporate and bank bailouts. What a disgrace. They get bonuses and we get poverty!
The problem is, as people we follow beliefs. So it isn't realistic just to have anyone do good for the greater good. It really isn't that simple as that.
The number one issue in this country is the power the Federal Reserve has. This country needs to take back control from the banking oligopoly elite! We'll know in a week or not whether or Ron Paul's venture to audit the Federal Reserve was successful. How can anyone oppose this? It's obvious who they are working for, and it's not the American people.
As for being conservative [and following the constitution] it allows congress to collect taxes. So, follow everything but that? Seems a bit inconsistant.
Property taxes fund schools - this is NOT a federal issue. Same with roads (gas tax). Welfare should not exist except for the severely disabled and even then perhaps their family should provide for them instead. If they weren't taxed to death they could.....It's called PERSONAL responsibility a concept long lost in our recent history.
Libertarians think we can live by the same rules as we had back when land was free and there was more than enough wildlife to support the whole population. Things are different now. There is not enough food to go around, which means if you elliminate taxes you will be killing alot of innocent people.
This has to be one of the most ridiculous statements I've ever see on Youtube. On the contrary to what you have typed, eliminating taxes stimulates the wealth-generating mechanism that is our economy. Creating more wealth means more and cheaper ways to eat.
By your reasoning, North Korea and the Soviet Union should have had the most well-fed populations ever! Yet, they are the ones that experienced and are experiencing starvation - not the USA.
I'm a democrat and i can see how the libertarian party can be a little better than my party. I'm not saying im converting to libertarian party but if by voting between a libertarian and a democrat.. i might vote libertarian. i guess im what some call a libertarian democrat.
Her treatment of constitutional amendments is interesting. She only concedes that constitutional amendments should "possibly" be considered as legitimate additions to it.
How dumb can you be lady? The constitution itself provides that it may be amended. In other words we are not entirely bound to follow the orders of those who have been dead for over 2 centuries. Her paradise is to have our society ruled almost entirely unchallengeable rules dictated by self appointed rulers.
Hi. I'm kind of looking into the libertarian party since I'm not too fond of either Obama or McCain. I'm just wondering how the libertarian policy of little or no taxes can work in this country.
Believe me- I'd love tax cuts and less government- but we do need the government to provide schools, roads, welfare, and stuff like that right? How would a libertarian president provide these needs with such low taxes?
there was no income tax until the 23rd amendment that passed in the 1920's. indirect taxes are completely legal though. these include the gas tax and "sin taxes". schools and roads are paid for with these 2 taxes and with property taxes in most states. welfare and most social programs would be eliminated or somehow privatized by a libertarian. personal accountability doesn't allow for very many social programs. the govt. has no place taking from or providing for an individuals existence, ever.
forced charity is NOT charity. I left modern liberalism b/c liberals run to government every time there is a problem. I adopted two pit bulls a few years ago as family pets. I am very responsible. they are trained, socialized, altered, on leash at all times.. etc.. like the issue of guns liberals want to take away our property and think bans work. Even if they did that doesn't justify punishing the responsible.
well i would say that i am extremely conservative i guess almost libertarian to the fact that i believe in the less forced taxes and less being told what to do with my life, but i think i disagree with the military part as cnelson01 wrote. i think that to protect our ability to control our own lives and control our own destiny, i believe that the military would be a very important aspect of a country. please write back
I agree with this. I don't see how we can avoid military conflict in today's world, esp. with the multiple fronts of Islamism all over the world and the instability of nuclear states.
I'm with libertarians(I even go to meetings) up to the point were they say no taxes at all. I'm not an anarchist and reject some(including no taxes) anarchist ideals. I believe Taxes should be limited and should be constitutional. so I would like to replace the income tax with the fair tax.
@redsox32394 Libertarians wouldn't starve the country of a military, and there would be taxes. There wouldn't be an income tax (theft) but there would be a much simpler and fairer tax system. The ultimate goal would be huge reductions in all spending by the govt. A huge reduction is size where ex-govt employess (leeches on society) would actually get private sector jobs and contribute. Turning multiple negatives into positives and transforming this country's big govt structure on its head.
@redsox32394 First you are manipulating the ideal to say "the Libertarian party doesn't want citizens to pay taxes. The ideal is that the paying of taxes is currently involuntary and forcibly asserted upon the US people. Moneys for such things as war and military can be funded simply through voluntary donations from supporters of the cause. Billions of dollars come voluntarily through individuals supporting particular causes and agendas and funding for the safety of our country would come also.
@redsox32394 Good question, repealing the 16th amendment ( giving the congress the right to impose taxes) lowers National revenue by 40 %. What Libertarians like myself would like to see happen is simply balance the budget. We can do this by relocating our military where it was always meant to be. In the US!
@redsox32394 That is only one sector of budget cutting ( which would save hundreds of billions of dollars) We also need to cut income security which are food stamps, unemployment benefits, and free health care.
First to comment, yay. I've always been a Libertarian. I think more people would agree that they are too if they understood what one was. I hope that the Ron Paul revolution, how ever it turns out will add to the Libertarian Party.

Because there would be enough if a tiny group of elites weren't hording it all.

Libertarianism works in a number of ways, but at the same time for some people out there it doesn't work. It could cause more problems.
No nation in the world has libertarianism as the front runner belief, for some things yes, but for a lot no.
