  • How much do you weigh?

  • Love doing these in the gym, the bar hurts my elbows but dumbells give me no pain.

  • I'm 14 and I'm still growing, so I wanna know, would doing these make my arms shorter? my elbows hurt a little when I do these. just wanna know If I'm not fucking up my arm growth plates

  • @Roflbrowser if you're 14 you shouldn't even lift weights. Wait till you're 15.5/16. Or else you're gonna ruin the grow of your body.

  • @0Ojoost14O0 says who?

  • @0Ojoost14O0 Bodybuilding doesn't stunt your growth. Arnold, Franco and Lou Ferigno startes to weight lift at around 14. Me too!

  • With dumbell it is more comfortable then with ez-barbell.. (imo)..

  • Can I do these without a bench?

  • @xPyroFreak

    yes, watch?v=uVvf1IORF0A

  • @xPyroFreak yes

  • is this just as effective for mass as using a barbell?

and would skullcrushers be better than lying tricep extensions?

  • @02chevyguy: tricep extensions are less effective depending on how you do it. People tend to push their elbows forward and outward and they dont push up veetically with their triceps. This puts less stress on the triceps and more on the elbows. Skullcrushers are done on the floor or bench, so its easier to control the weight and lift straight up with your triceps instead of putting stress on the elbows.

  • is there such thing as workout that will stuck my growth plz help iam 17 and i want to get taller but i want workout hard plz help

  • I don't have a bench. Can these also be done on the floor (carpeted area)?

  • @02chevyguy Yeah man. I've been doing lots of exercises like this on the floor. It's a lot safer too since it only allows so much arm movement. You shouldn't need to go any further than the floor or you risk injury. I go all around youtube for exercise vids, but this is the main guy to me scooby1961

  • @wumtan Thanks for the reply. Tthey'll be part of my routine from now on. However, what is the difference between these and tricep extensions (which I do sitting in a chair)?

  • If you change the position of your arms by just a few degrees you eliminate the resting position that you would otherwise have when you fully extend your arm -> more efficient workout. A great tip for advanced tricep workers learned it from Jeff Cavaliere's videos.

  • I have always done the skull crushers to the point where the dumb bell touches my forehead, then I lift it back up. Is this okay?

  • *elbows hurt*

  • i seem to get pains in my elbows when i work my triceps

  • @jamiebenson1 Warm up with lighter weight arms farther back and flare your elbows out a little more(if all else fails then just do the exercise on a decline bench that will take all the stress from the elbows and just lash it on the triceps.

  • @superrubiksman Ok thanks :)

  • this should be called joint crusher:)

  • Why dont you lie on the floor rather? Maybe lift your legs 2inch off the deck and get the Ab's working aswell?

  • Anyone know a good total body workout that will get me big over the summer?

  • @DubDiCeDIZzLe only chuck norris, since that does not exist. If by wanting to get big you mean look muscular and manly, you will have to work out a little more then just one summer.

  • @Legystarcraft i need a good weekly workout schedule i can rely on this summer

  • i used to do this with a barbell, and my elbows always used to click and crunch as they bent, not really sure why that tends to happen.. but now watching this and now doing it with dumbbells, so much better, thanks a lot man, keep up the good work

  • i did them today and my elbows were fine....

  • awsm

  • What muscles does this work mainly?

  • @AnxietyBeGone

    Triceps.

It is like a curl for your triceps, they are one of my favourite exercises for triceps.

Best with dumbbells, like in this video, so you know you are working each arm equally.

  • @AnxietyBeGone This will target your triceps!

  • If your elbows hurt reduce the weight guys. If it still hurts dont do it :)

  • this is a french press according to scooby1961 you cannt do a skull crusher with dumbbells

  • @HaloGTMaster

The name of the exercise really doesn't make much difference..

  • what is it better ? with a bar or with the dumbbells ?

  • scott no offence i exactly did what you demonstrate her and my elbow hurts...

  • i realised my elbow always hurt when i did these but that was because my arms were completely straight like this ( | ), BUT if you put your arms at a slight slant so it should like this ( / ) NOT ( | ) then the pressure is off of your elbows !

  • Whats the difference between doing this exercise this way or doing it with z-bar?

  • @AAAKKSergio The difference is that when you use dumbells, the weight is more focused on each arm individually. When you use a z-bar, the weight is more balanced between both arms and is basically less stress on each arm. For best results, i'd use dumbells to get more work done on each arm.

  • great exercise i do these every time i use dumbbells, which isn't all that often these days with work and all plus i train martial arts stuff and yoga when i can

  • Oh sweet! great idea! thanks allot!

  • You my friend have a million dollar smile :D

  • should i do this on my tricep routine?

  • @infectedkoozer yes you should. it kills you. feels great.

  • 2 dislikes from people who got their skull crushed

  • 500th video Scott!

  • I used to do the same exercise but w/ one dumbell. Two sounds way better.

  • Is there difference between using bar or dumbells?

  • Which is better? Dumbbell Skull Crusher? or Barbell Skull Crusher?

  • @superbadninjadude NOT WITH PROPER FORM!!!!!!!!!

  • @Revolutionary230 ya my left pec is bigger than the right :(, but which one would tear the muscle more?

  • i try to change the exercises every week but i dunno how to combine them... So maybe you can give me a hand with some tips what exercises should i do?

  • One of my favorite exercises.

  • Why are there no programs on cable that offer the type of informative and how too physical fitness knowledge you do. There are yoga, arobics, belly dancing and, tae bo and everything else. I think you'd be the perfect show host!!

  • Can you do these in the same way you do them with a curl bar, where instead of extending up over your chest, you extend out away from your head backwards?

  • I very much enjoyed this video.

  • Awesome Scott your the best I never know if I'm doing this right

  • this is like the greatest tri workout EVER!!!

  • what weight is that? in kg's?

  • @b0red1 I dont know where your from but in the United States usually the public gyms dumbells are in LBS

  • @b0red1 its about 8 kgs = 20 lbs

  • I hear these are bad for your knees

  • heyy scott what can i do about puffy nippes ! i need help

  • @rocroc27 look up gynecomastia on the internet.

  • 500th video sup

  • I do a barbell skull crush then go into a dumbell skull crush to triceps press.. its and awesome super set and really gets you panting and he blood flowing.

  • whats better dumbells or barbell which is more effective

  • @mmacl4ncy Preference probably.

  • (Insert funny Muscle Joke here)

  • @moviedude22 you need to warm-up your joints more properly. bless you.

  • Comment removed

  • @mexica27 Warm-up properly is a true art. I remember when I thought I was warming up right and got joint pain. There are several warm-up techniques, the most used is the light weight-fast reps style which is not very good. I prefer to do 3 warm up sets. 1 light 12 reps, 1 light-moderate, 10 reps, and 1 acclimation set moderate-heavy 8 reps. This can even help you do the exercise with more weight than general.

  • Nice..

  • try letting your elbows go abit wider

  • Scott what weights do you specifically typically use for this exercise

  • I already do this exercise but using a barbell.. which version do you think is better?

  • What happened to the always put them behind your head and push straight out ???

  • @ moviedude22: try keeping your elbows as close as posible to your body. the exercise will be harder but you'll evoid injury. also when doing these types of triceps exercise (use a bar, for example), use the same position of your elbows

  • Can you do a video on how to get crazy bulging veins in your neck?

  • @chakkapark I rather get crazy bulging veins in my arms like in DBZ XD

  • @chakkapark scream when ur tired

  • @chakkapark Shout everything all the time like a true hermanite!

  • @chakkapark I have had those since I was 5.... they are genetic

  • @ScottHermanFitness woo hoo genetics :D bad luck muscles dont run in mine :(

  • @chakkapark its obvious that all the tshf* tshf* made those veins pop out hard

im gona do the same thing and get bulging veins hehehehe =D

  • @chakkapark I think it helps to have low body fat, just like abs.

  • @chakkapark Genetics, low body fat percentage and actually working out to get some blood flowing ;)

  • I tend to have elbow joint pain after these. what gives?

  • @moviedude22 do you train triceps alot?

  • @EvanPwnsYou I would but no. I tend to ignore them altogether except for dips, because once dumbells are introduced after a couple days the pain sets in.....

  • @moviedude22 its because the muscle around ur elbow is part of ur tricep lol it hurts after because thats the area it targets

  • @moviedude22 lower the weight, do more reps

  • @moviedude22 use a lighter weigt until the pain goes away then increase the weight

  • @moviedude22 Try doing the cables. I have the pain too, but now I stand doing the cables overhead. It gives me the same results without the pain.

  • @moviedude22 you probably dont have your arms back far enough to take the pressure off of your elbows :)

  • @moviedude22 @ScottHermanFitness or you are flaring your elbows out not keeping them close together during the exercise

  • @ScottHermanFitness ahh this does help me lol i hate it when it sometimes hurt but lets see if this works!!

  • @ScottHermanFitness Uhm, sorry to disagree but the more vertical your elbows are, the more pressure there is on your joints. I get those too and i'm sure i use good form because i have a professional who helps out.

  • @moviedude22 Also, your elbows may be too far from each other, so you end up lifting the weight in a weird angle that puts a strain on your inner elbow ligaments. Bring your elbows in closer to your head so that your humerus are parallel.

  • @moviedude22 Putting ice packs and muscle rub on your elbows after working out can help. So can some anti-inflammatory medication like ibuprofen or naproxen.

  • @moviedude22 You are probably doing to much weight or going to fast, start of light and slow and let your shoulder get used to the movement, thats what I did .

  • @Cobrakay2003 shoulder? interesting. thnx!

  • @moviedude22 haha you know what I ment :) the albow joint lol :)

  • it sounded like drum when you dropped the dumbbell. x)

  • In my current gym I have to use and EZ bar to do skull crushers - I do a heavy set using then EZ bar and then a lighter set right after using this dumbbell technique - three times

Although at my old school gym there was a proper skull crusher bar!?! Anyone else seen/got one of them at their gym?

  • You're a pussy you're a mom you're fucked?

Seriously people, what the fuck is wrong with you. Grow up

  • thanks scott! i dont have an EZ curl bar, jst a regular straight benching bar which hurts my wrist and is difficult to balance.

  • 1rd

  • thats more of 45 degrees

  • @pussymstrr ur not a pussy master you jew

  • @pussymstrr dude thats 90 degrees

  • @harryharryharold No its not. i have geometry right now..its not 90 degrees

  • @pussymstrr mate thats great and all and im very happy for you but in the real world thats 90 degrees

you dont see me going around calling my skin a cutaneous membrane just cause im doing a cells tissues and regulations course

  • @harryharryharold Listen my friend, we both have different opinions. It is what it is

  • @pussymstrr your fat HAHAHAA I WIN

  • @harryharryharold No? Your just a fucking retard.

  • a nice variation to this exercise is to have your upper arm slightly lower, as in more parallel to your body, it makes the tricep have to work harder as it is never 'resting' as you have to really control on the positive movement :D

  • my elbow pops eveytime i bent it and straight it again.... help?

  • @javaleira make sure ur forarm/hand is gliding directly over your bicep

  • @javaleira my left elbow pops to, like a tendon thingy even if im not lifting it still does it, its annoying. we may have the same problem :D

  • @javaleira YOUR FUCKED

  • @harryharryharold so is ur mom, by me

  • i am the 4th like :D
