Okay, it's simple. It's not his finger popping it up.. It's the second card, the card that's under the card that's going to to popped that is doing the flipping. First you have the top card moved to the side, while you're distracting the audience with your snap. You pull the card under the top card with your thumb, while doing that push that card down to activate the spring. As it is flipping, catch it.
