Izzie however does know what her actions caused when in a future episode she not only meets but has to treat the man whos heart she "stole" for Denny. She is forced to realize the impact of that decision and if not for her he wouldn't have survived the ordeal of the episode that would have left his wife widowed. Most shows depict real life, decisions aren't immediately recognized but in hinds sight right.
I am asking everyone who thinks Izzie is selfish, What if it were you in her shoes and your family was facing this very situation. Yes it is true there may be someone losing a battle for life by your actions, however would you act any differently. If you can I will not applaud nor appreciate your unselfishness. Because as a mother there is nothing absolutely nothing that would deter my efforts to save my baby. Even if it wasn't sucessful it would be worth it.
The whole purpose of this scene of the episode is turn the tables towarbds their own personal lives and situations because they are not going to tell Webber who cut the LVAD wire. He wants answers and they DON'T have any answers he wants, and by turning the situation to their own personal struggles tells him that answers aren't always possible. It is best explained to him in the events they can relate to.

No, I totally know what Izzie was talking about. Denny saw the real Izzie, not the shell casing. He saw the smart, kind, compassionate, strong woman she was.

@livexthexlife192 You can't call her character selfish because of that, you can't say what you'd do in a situation like until you were in it, no-one can. I'm not saying what her character did was right I'm just saying unless you've been in that situation you don't know how it feels.

Denny was 2nd to another guy who needed a heart transplant. If Denny's LVAD wire failed on him then he would be pushed to the top of the list, so Izzie cut so he could get the availble heart.
Probably one of the best scenes from grey's. This was the first time I ever really saw everyone- Alex, Christina, Izzie, George, and Meredith- really come together to protect each other.
this is like my ultimate favorite tv show (internationally, because im living outside America..)great ensemble....i just felt bad about isiah/dr.burke..hope he can find ways to be able to get back to the show..i like him with cristina..but ultimate favorite is Dr. izzy/katherine heigl...love her..love the show too...thanks for posting this..God bless..

They do talk about an LVAD in a few episodes before).
