@shockmaster14231 When we first installed the Deaver Springs it looked like we had hydraulics in the back. We needed them to settle in, and now the ride height is perfect so we just left them as is.
Hey I've decided I want to prerunner my X, but it's probably going to be a couple year process. I like the rear setup but Radflo is expensive, so curious what other shocks you guys would reccomend for the rear?
@swordfish94 Yes coil-overs are expensive but definitely need for any prerunner. I don't know if you are going to find cheap coil-overs anywhere. You might consider looking on Craigslist for a set of used shocks if money is a concern. Be sure to send us some pics when you get it going.
yeah i wanted to do all of this to my 96. until i looked into how much it would all cost. now its probably gonna take me few years to get it to the point where i can use it
@swordfish94 Yes this was an expensive project, but you can always do it in steps. This is also why with our new video series FullDroopTV we are doing the build step by step and showing you more of each part of the build, so you can possibly do it yourself.
@isell50zZz It really depends this is the 2WD model of the kit and it sits higher than the 4WD model on our Ranger. It will also depend on tire size. Most likely you will use a 285/75/16 tire (about 33") I would say expect about 3-4" taller than stock
@McNeilRacing Good eye!!! Glad you like our Explorer...we have been really happy with it. Let us know if you have any prerunners we can feature in the magazine.
@prerunnermaniac The only one i can think of would be our Black and Yellow Explorer Sport Trac. That thing is amazing! i have some videos of it on my profile.
@McNeilRacing I got a few pics of it last year at the Off Road Expo...do you have any action shots? I'll check out your profile and see what video you have.
@dragndestroy Yes I wish we could PUMP everyone's trucks but WOW this was an expensive video to produce. Help us out by sharing the video...the more views we get the more attractive this is for our sponsors to support more videos!!!
@prerunnermaniac cool. i m in L.A how much would be the front and rear suspension kit and rims for ford ranger ?? i already have fenders bumpers and lights.
@Zeeckthelegend I don't remember the exact number but it is a few thousand, Dixon Bros Racing kit in front, Radflo coilovers and bumpstops, Deaver springs and Radflo smooth bodies...it adds up.
@prerunnermaniac um, no, puppy. jk. for some reason, I call cats puppys. actually its because my cat is bigger than most small dogs, he is 22 lbs and is just plain huge so I call him a dog
@christofercrews We can't give actual numbers was this wasn't cheap to do. We do have to thank all our sponsors for their support. Without them we couldn't have put this together.

haha I have a 96 explorer just waiting to be built up like this. I want to so bad but times are hard=/ anyway very nice. when are you going to do mine?
@QuattroStig I took a look at your Bronco and didn't see extended beams on it. The trucks we feature have to have long travel kits on them. I do like your Bronco it just doesn't fit in with our core audience. Throw some extended beams on it and some Deaver springs in back and hit us up for a shoot.
Great advice. We will be in touch! I plan on putting a solo engine cage to convert the front to coilover. Then the 44 Wide Twin Traction Beams will go on.
@sasquatchismydaddy I wish we could build everyone's Rangers but this type of video costs a ton of money. It was made to show you the viewer how to build one yourself.

@prerunnermaniac how much do u think it would cost to put long travel on the front of my 2000 2wd f150? do u guys fabricate your own long travel front end or just install pre-made ones like the dixon bros front end?
@mada310 No we leave the fabrication to the Fab Shops we feature. Dixon Bros Racing makes a great kit for your truck. A friend of mine has it on his quad cab F-150. Search Google for Dixon Bros Racing for more details.
idk if she's serious about all that offroad talk, she was talking about the lights and suspension like she knew what had been done to it already lol. all i know is that she is FIIIINE!!
@bigshowoff321 You might not want to do this for an Explorer Sport. The short wheelbase will make for a wild ride off-road. There is a huge difference between our Explorer and our Ranger that is much longer.
Rough numbers including parts and services would be between $15k and $20k. The good part is unless you go jump the thing every weekend it will last you a long time.
woww soo sickk! i love seeing custom work done to SUV's turning them into prerunners! just bought a 02 grand cherokee, you guys wana build mine next!??? im savin for a factory kit, cant afford custom fab :(
this should be the show on mtv instead of all that bullshit little hondas with 24 inch rims and 50 tvs. they should be showing real trucks built on tv. sick video and sick explorer.
Im seeing all the suspension and body work. But what has been done to give the truck enough power and torque to help glide across the dirt at high speeds
Nothing too exciting, we show in the articles that we re-geared the rearend, it has a drop in KN Filter and we hacked off the muffler, so it is runs on the cats alone. Also this Explorer is a 5-speed so that helps, but really the deeper gears did the most. And yes we wish this was a V8 Explorer.
Well in our experience the MT's work better. You must remember most race trucks including our prerunner are 2WD so you need as much traction as possible to the rear wheels
The reason AT's work better is they provide better floatation over the soft stuff and typically have a better pattern for traction on the hard pack.
MT's will provide plenty of traction no doubt. but they tend to dig in the soft stuff and can get chucked apart by rocksa and gravel in high speed desert runs.
Not to mention the AT's will provide better on road manners and less tire noise. I'm assuming this truck serves mainly as a rolling showcase for your shop so I'd also assume it spends most of its time on the street.
Judging from the graphics and my assumed purpose of the truck, you guys wanted more of an attention getter than an all out desert vehicle. and MT's do look more 'hardcore' to the layman.
whats with those fender flares? everything else looks awesome but you should have left the fenders stock i go offroading all the time in my explorer havent had any problem with it yet andits stock height good job though other than the fender flares
Those aren't fender flares they are fiberglass fenders and they are needed because the front track width is now 8 inches wider than stock. They also provide more room for bump travel. Regular fender flares would not give us the room we needed.
i have a 2001 tacoma prerunner that i have personally blacked out and put an exhaust system on. i think you guys should take it on as a charity project!!!
Well if you can help spread the word about our video, we might be able to accept vehicle submissions....glad you like the video. We are working on episode 2 right now.
I love that bronco.

MT's will provide plenty of traction no doubt. but they tend to dig in the soft stuff and can get chucked apart by rocksa and gravel in high speed desert runs.
To each his own.

I have a 2001 Ford Explorer XLT, 2wd. How much would it cost to do that kit with the fab work on it?
RussianMAFIADESIGN 2 years ago
It is about $5k with the kit, shocks, fiberglass and install.

whats with those fender flares? everything else looks awesome but you should have left the fenders stock i go offroading all the time in my explorer havent had any problem with it yet andits stock height good job though other than the fender flares
SykoDj 2 years ago
Those aren't fender flares they are fiberglass fenders and they are needed because the front track width is now 8 inches wider than stock. They also provide more room for bump travel. Regular fender flares would not give us the room we needed.

blackhawk250 2 years ago
It does pretty good, but your right it will never match a truck unless we did some serious modding.
prerunnermaniac 2 years ago

Well if you can help spread the word about our video, we might be able to accept vehicle submissions....glad you like the video. We are working on episode 2 right now.
prerunnermaniac 2 years ago
It was alright.... good looking truck BUT you really need a producer. The video was just too cheezy. I almost couldn't watch it.
kaymanclark 2 years ago
Yes this first episode could be better, but we were going for a kind of cheezy feel.
I promise our next episode will have a bit more direction.
prerunnermaniac 2 years ago
That was dope but a cool wone would be a 4wd trophy truck style!
ReggyRay289 2 years ago
The next episode will be a Class 7 truck which is like a Trophy Truck but you are limited to a V6, suspension is unlimited.
prerunnermaniac 2 years ago
