I recently picked up a PF9, and I have a major issue with it. The magazine release button. When I first got it, I would only hit the button a few times out of 150 rounds. But now, EVERY SINGLE TIME i fire the damn weapon, my thumb hits the release button and out pops the mag. It is driving me insane. Do you not have this issue? I would love to carry this firearm, but obviously that would currently be a bad idea. Any recommendations?
@GARYMANDIEVAN You're right, but I think he was just talking about getting used to the trigger pull. Dry firing is an excellent way to practice trigger control without the need for a range or ammo. That said, nothing is a substitute for actually firing the gun
Hello, i was wondering what hogue grip you put on it! I also have one and havent been able to find a grip for it yet! If you could would you please give me the part number! Thanks
@ronica311 You will like it the recoil is not that bad just practice ,practice ,practice. Its the best thing to do to get used to the gun.I carry mine still and its been great.
@GARYMANDIEVAN RIGHT! Its like I know what you mean, why does everyone feel the need to correct the clip/mag? If I know what u mean, its cool. And youre right been carrying it for a lil' over a week and it dissapears under my shirt with a Galco Classic Lite. This IS THE PPK OF THE 21'st CENTURY, unlike Bonds .32, and its lighter, and same capacity, what more can you ask for out of a 9mm subcompact CHL weapon??
Great video! I have been thinking about picking one of these PF9s up one day. I had the Keltec P11 and hated it. Got rid of that gun, but this one looks and feels alot different.
@thecajunblaze Yea I had the P-11 to and now its gone.I like the PF9 the trigger takes some getting used to but the one I have is a shooter and easy to canceal.
All kel-tecs have a break in period. A good fluff and buff goes a long way as well. The older PF9's from what I could tell run about 50% as far as peoples experience. Half like it, half don't. Mine has shot flawlessly, but before I ever shot it I did a F&B and is the exception and not the rule. Thanks for your video.
Not to talk bad but I had that pistol and the first 20 rounds it jammed once and then 2 rounds later the firing pin shot out of the gun. I sent it back to kel tec and 6 weeks later it still jammed 2 times on the first 50 rounds with 3 different bullet companies. I wouldn't trust my life with it, and your right it will never be a glock.
@antonl58 Sorry to hear yours has been trouble the one that I have is still running great no jams at all,but I have A Para 45 giving me about the same trouble as you have had with the PF9 I hope Kel-tec helps you out.
Great review. I have about 250 rounds through mine. Once I got past the recoil, it has been a great weapon. (Recoil no worse than any small 357 snub nose revolver). It has the longest grip area of the sub compacts (7 round clip vs everyone elses 6 round) to fit my large hands. I have the Armalaser RSS on it and I am very happy. Youtube reviews and the KTOG site helped me make my purchase decision.
@Castleknight Kel-tec sold them on there site but I looked today and they are not there I bought one for my p3AT its a shoe or boot that fits over the trigger and makes it wider.I can send you a picture of it on the 380 if you like.
just bought one of these and it is a total dissapointment...gun fails to properly eject shell casing after firing....tried different ammo with no luck...should check out forums about this gun before considering a purchase...whish I had
I'm sure you can take it back to the Gun Store you bought it from thats how ours deal here in North Carolina. Mine has been flawless I use the Hornady Critical Defence ammo try it .I hope you get the problem worked out.
Very nice video. I LOVE this gun and I think you hit all the highlights nicely. 9mm, thin, easy to conceal..... this is a great carry piece. It is a "snappy" pistol so you have to get use to the recoil - but as far as "bang for the buck" (pun intended) I highly recommend it.
I just picked one up recently and I agree 100%, it is a great gun, added the clipdraw to it and got some 124gr hydra shok, 200 rounds not a single hiccup :)
Great Review. I bought one but haven't broke it in yet. I think 100 rounds off FMJ should do it. I ordered the Hornady Critical Defense Ammo from Cablelas but they keep backordering it. I'm glad to see that you are used Hornady ammo, and it worked OK in the gun.

Good review, can you elaborate a little on the trigger pull and why it took 50 round to get used to?

clip - a metal frame or container holding cartridges; can be inserted into an automatic gun
Synonyms: cartridge clip, cartridge holder, magazine

I heard Kel Tec fixed the magazine release problem.

Why shoot 50 rounds to get used to the trigger? You should dry fire until you have the action down, otherwise you are just wasting ammo.

Gary,
PF-9 has a magazine not a clip. A cilp and a magazine are not the same thing, look it up. Also, you used a cartridge to pry out the take down pin.
You may also use the end of a spent or new casing but you
can not pry it out with a "bullet".
