  • this song is dedicated to Michael Hutchence of INXS

  • love is good and love is kind

love is drunk and love is blind

    these are beautiful lyrics

  • Joder, que recuerdos.........pasan los años y aun siento estas canciones

    de forma muy intensa

  • How the hell could anyone say Adore sucks? Yeah yeah I for got it doesn't sound exactly like Siamese Dream it's evil.

  • Wasn't this song about Michael Hutchens (spelling) the INXS singer? Maybe I'm mistaken.

I do remember that it was recorded live with the drum machine. D'arcy and James especially (the Ebow master) both did themselves proud

  • @NoHeartAnthony really I never heard that one

  • @opheliajade1986 its on wikipedia for his page but not referenced...

    ah well, great song anyhow.

  • I can't even begin to explain how much I love this song. The ending makes me cry.

  • This song is sooooooo fuckin beautiful. Adore is Amazing

  • Life has it's silver linings....but this is fucking GOLD.

  • hello goodbye you know you made us cry. sad. id rank this album up there with some of the cure and joy division's rain+gloom works of art. very underrated album.

  • @komunista94 Haha anything that ISNT MC or SD is underrated. Its ridiculous, people are stupid

  • @IzzyLovesRock IMO Adore is the best album. Too bad 'fans' didn't really like it when it came. Absence of crunch guitars and presence of synths and electronica elements turned off people who expected a rehash of gish sd and mellon collie. Yeah, it is ridiculous considering how powerful the tunes are in this record.

  • @komunista94 I agree, I've been a fan since Siamese and I think Adore was their best album.

  • @foxlight3 Yeah, still listen to Siamese Dream the most but Adore is the undisputed masterpiece IMO.

  • @komunista94 I change what I listen to the most constantly. In a renewed Gish phase right now. I clump Zeitgeist and both Machina's as simply the machina phase lol. Good to see some people have good taste, or at least my taste:)

  • Comment removed

  • @foxlight3 good to know. havent listened to any sp albums in a while=) probably will go with machina today. all the albums were unique osts to some specific time in my life when they came out that's why they're all good to me. there are favorites of course; but what makes a great artists is variety and the sp is that. all my albums from gish - machina are in cassette format btw lol! gish and adore are stuck all the rest, still ok.

  • @komunista94 well said........ exactly wat I think....... this stuff makes me ball my eyes out it reminds me of being 11....I was very mature for my age and I was only in grade seven and this album really affected me...I got it....understood it and loved it then and even more now it is soooo meaningful to me...... got me through my parents divorce... surely their best.....but my all time fave song by them is "Stand inside You Love" even if the whole cd is not 2 good, that song makes it worth i

  • Comment removed

  • @opheliajade1986 yeah. it's just that all sp albums from gish to machina had been unique and reminds me of specific images/events in my teens that goes in sync with each album's release. i love them all. like i said, siamese dream is a favorite, but i concur with the rest that adore is the masterpiece.

  • muy buen tema

  • It's settled. I'm buying this album at the Half Price Bookstore. It seems it was a good idea after all to hide the cd before I left there!

  • best SP song of all time!!!

  • I think this song is about a girl he banged in order to get a bologna sandwich. Now he is ashamed that he did it because the girl ended up not having any bologna anyway.

It reminds me of that very same situation in my life and that is why it resonates with me so much.

  • @SPFrobber qtf lmfao

  • ...i love this song..nice video!:)

  • This song puts me in my own world!! Its one of a kind!

  • Dont you just fucking hate it when you heat up a pie in the miscrowave, and its cold on the inside? Jee man...now ill have to re-heat it ALL over again! SP rule :)

  • why must everyone argue in comments? this is such a deep emotional chill song and people would rather argue than listening....makes no sense

  • OMG the lyrics !!

  • The cd cover... the shame.... The seamless melody... the bassline... There are so many right things with adore.

  • sh sh sh sh sh shame

  • Comment removed

  • @fuckyou76788 God damn man that hurts, really struck my core.

  • @Watch4 ehehe

  • Comment removed

  • @Watch4 like your dads penis.

  • Comment removed

  • @GuimoXoX Why didn't you just do it? :(

  • @Watch4 It's all good, let it pass.

  • The bass line adds a lot to the song, makes it even darker

  • I like all albums of smashing pumpkins, but adore still remains the best for me!

  • I always thought this song was about billy and his ex wife (their divorce). the emotions change from melancholy to hopeful in the end, i always thought that represented something too~

  • @axyl Hopeful?....the ending of the song is probably the saddest part.

  • @Watch4 the emotion and melody in the music to me doesnt come off as sad, the lyrics might~

  • @axyl I really do wonder what you're smoking.

  • @Watch4 LOL!

  • @Watch4 me too lol

  • @axyl no its about Michael Hutchence

  • @axyl I always thought the lyrics at the end of the song are the most beautiful and hopeful of theirs. "Love is good all the time". Seriously. That's painful and beautiful to admit. To think that even if love results in failure, it's still "good all the time". That's a strong statement. I hope to believe that one day.

  • @axyl It's actually about Michael Hutchence, the former lead singer for INXS.

  • @thirtysilver The guy that fapped himself to death?

  • @burchified Though it was postulated that he had died during an act of autoerotic asphyxiation, the bulk of the evidence shows that he strangled himself intending to commit suicide.

  • @thirtysilver That's got to be the worst way to kill yourself. I'd go the Hemmingway/Cobain method; Muzzle in the mouth, toe on the trigger. It's quicker. But then again, I'd never kill myself and hindsight is 20/20.

  • @axyl the same happens in "once and a while"

  • wow, i cant believe i forgot about this song

  • wow this is very somber ............i am walking alone this song helps alot ..........oh how lif is full of pain but there a silver lining in all thing .....like music

  • @gspeas13

Well you're not alone in the experience.

  • One of my favorite pumpkin songs (among the many)

    It's haunting, elegant, sad, fond

That's how life is: never black and white.

  • Billy posted a bit on his LiveJournal about this particular song, which was recorded shortly after they moved from Chicago to L.A. Interesting read.

    billycorgan.livejournal com/11818 html

  • "Love is good and love is kind/ Love is drunk and love is blind/ Love is good and love is mine/ Love is drunk all the time."

  • fiumi di birra on this track........the last year

  • fiumi di birra on this track in the last year............

  • this song is a sharp reminder of a love i had & lost, then got her back again but have now lost for good. though it hurts, i agree... love is good all the time.

  • I always felt this song was about Jimmy and the pain of having to kick him from the band, could be wrong but that's how i interpreted it at the time Adore came out.

  • @HeavenHillRevival Yeah, i coincidentally I agree, it does fit really well with his departure at the time...especially the last line.

  • @Watch4 u r dead on! its obviously about jimmy.

  • @HeavenHillRevival good thinking, he says us at the end meaning the band in general not just him

  • Shame it is the best song ever! :)))))))

  • This song remind me of the movie Caddyshack.

  • perfect tranquility pureness equilibrium through its darkness upon light...your a part of all of us forever

  • im gona rap on this beat! any1 kno where i can find the instrumental? If not im gonna have to create it myself from the song.

  • @saugaboy07 RAP on this beat? do you really want to kill the masterpiece out of this song?

  • @Ruxie666 ahahaha, trust me its not shit rap, check out my myspace/casperblack(dot)com

  • love this song so much

  • @willmferg

what did he kill him self? every one says sad. -.-

  • Comment removed

  • dope man omg

    i love their music

    XD

  • :DDDD

  • My heart inside

  • listened to this wheni was doing speed. soo depressing

  • Smashing Pumpkins reminds me of when I did speed a lot too...

But "Shame" is allegedly about their drummer that overdosed. It's supposed to be a kind of bitter tribute and farewell.

  • want it their keyboardist because chamberlin is still alive although he almost died from an OD

  • shame for people who love many, whos like gods, who kill animal for food. killing animals is MURDER!!! man, wake up ...........WAKE UP....because earth will by destruct:( wake up ......make love, have a friends, family, make pease for all organism on this planet!!!!!

  • @OrnelaKrilin fuck you peta!!

  • hahaha

  • @OrnelaKrilin

chill, my friend. this song is about a different kind of shame.

  • @OrnelaKrilin

fuck you dude. kill your self. no one will care fuck you hard.

  • @OrnelaKrilin

He dick suck it's called survival. Animals kill animals for survivla, lets see the lion, the wolf, the tiger, these all kill other animals. We do the same thing, so killing them for food isn't bad, complain about killing them for sport not food you fucking hippy.

  • @DMCMaster550 you are so right about this, I agree with you 100%

  • @Vivex666 No it isn't. This song was written as a tribute to Michael Hutchence, lead singer of the rock band INXS.

  • gish, siamese dream were great albums and meloncholie was climactic as well as one of the greatest albums in modern popular music. I just think that every band has limits to their artistic potential as a whole, and the smashing pumpkins their peak when they did melon cholie. Adore and ablums afrter arent bad album, but they can't be compared to the earlier stuff.

  • they diffenetly had more potential, if you hear their song "untitled" (there last song released in 2000.) they returned to their old style and the result is amazing. I think SP had more potential but they tried to push thier music in new directions that didnt quite work

  • Artistically I think Adore was their most beautiful album. The poetry, the mood and the atmosphere, the other albums though good were too angsty, personally I think MCIS wasn't an artistic high for the band. Both Adore and Machina were more ambitious and grandiose than MCIS in an artistic sense, musically no, but artistically. Then Zeitgeist came out, that was their decline. Although I'd say Teargarden has proven nice so far.

  • ja, its all about the non-standard tuning they used on adore, lots of miner keys etc. MCIS was great; machina, so so in places; zeitgeist pretty gay; the rest are only ok, really adore and then MCIS for me...

  • @DMCMaster550 i LOVE all there albums including zeitgeist because it had jimmy chamberlain on the drums on it.... adore proved people wrong because he wasn't in it, but billy corgan is my favorite vocalist ever, especially being backed by james iha and the original bassist. let's be honest man nobody is making music like this anymore.. everybdoy is selling out it seems but the Smashing Pumpkins will rock forever and ever

  • adore was a great album...so was machina actually..they never always great in the 90's to the very end...

  • Smashing Pumpkins = :*}

  • dude that's my sister

  • @dalecampbl5

    lol

  • the woman on the cover is ugly and creepy

  • jealous much?

  • @nicklazzarinirocks when someone doesn't have anything intelligent to say they yell out whateva or you're just jealous.

  • it was a joke on the irony of calling someone jealous, cmon like someone would actually be jealous of a drawing on a cover.... I just defend anything smashing pumpkins!

  • yea best sp album.they never did one like this before.and wont do again.

  • I haven´t seen the album cover. This is favorite SP album.

  • Smeer the sky with all my thoughts and feelings. Peer into my soul and call me infallible. Despite the morbid nature of our conceit and hostile resistance towards change I have made my vows to the glorious departure, so peer into my soul and smeer the sky with my thoughts and feelings.

There is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves, and yet, we long to belong and to be heard by all, if any.

Smeer the sky with my thoughts and feelings, for I long to belong.

  • Awesome stuff.

  • Walking through the Rails to Trails bike/walking trail in the woods, on a cold, overcast, winter day, snow coming down, listening to this, just powerfull. Beautiful, but sad as well.

  • this song is so damn underated, its amazing how an apparently simple song can create so much inner emotions and i say simple because its the same structure through the whole song but man... its incredible how good it is, i used to listen to this song when i was at high school like 100 times a day... this song is so damn good, miss the good old smashing pumpkins...

  • same here

  • this song is clearly about the (at this point) departed drummer jimmy chamberlain who was fired for what heroin was doing to him..... "hello goodbye, you know you made us cry"

  • mesmerizing song, every time I hear it.

  • i love this song. and love is a powerful word. yet it reminds me of the winter in my dead old town. when i was lost and also dead. i had so much shame inside of me, for liking my boyfriends best friend. i really did love him. and his best friend. i had so much shame. and this song really helped me feel like something was going to change someday

  • god..that is honesty...;-)

  • hope you got through it and if not good luck then. may luck find its way to your shadow.

  • I love how every Pumpkins video I come across on youtube people say it's their favorite Pumpkins song. Theirs a song for everyone to like from SP.

  • This is my favorite SP-related comment, until now.

  • @Gamagachee the pumpkins are my favorite in general......i cant really pick a song to be a favorite.

  • @Gamagachee which would be this one.......or daydream or perfect.....and walking shade by billy and honestly by zwan lol

  • William Corgan, you Irish hero! best listened to when walking through snowy forests in Eastern Europe at twilight.

  • a lot of their songs are great to listen to when out in beautiful nature

    ohh billy haha

  • Is it true that this song is dedicated to Michael Hutchence?

    ...

and hell yeah, this album was WAY ahead of it's time, too bad nobody GOT it

  • yeah I have read that. Or inspired by his death anyway

  • Love is good and love is kind

Love is good and love is blind

Love is good and love is mine

Love is good all the time

  • "Hello, goodbye. You know, you made us cry."

    I love this song.

Adore is my favorite album by them.

  • Amazing album, new bands today cant compete :p

  • Yeah I agree, some try to say that SIlversun Pickups is trying to restore the sound, but they still don't capture this essence.

  • billy himself can't even compete.

  • Being a big pumpkins fan I think this album was ahead of its time. I didn't like it when I bought it, but today it fits in with my regular listening.

  • "love is good all the time"

many people don't agree with that. i hope it's true.

  • this whole album is a little underground cult surprise. beautiful, so diverse in productions and styles, yet streamlined cohesion.

  • sh-sh-sh-sh-sh shame

i luv the way different artists divide up words in songs!!

    corgan = awsome singer

  • man this song....makes me think...its truley a deep track, Smashing pumpkins for ever :)

  • love really is drunk all the time..........what a bad hangover too!!

  • this song is always good to hear...

    one of my faves

  • it s has been a long time I didn t heard it but still thrill me has the first time !

    Vive la France !

  • Mdr !!

    Vive les clafoutis !

  • Corgan is the most awesome musician since the seventies, no debate from me

even his slow stuff is sick

and this song does not make me feel optimistic but I like it as musical expression

  • this song is soogood it reminds me when i was so shameful for liking you

  • this song is cool with the bass pumped

  • Comment removed

  • amazing song. this is the kind of music i was raised on, it always makes me feel better. what has happened to music nowadays?

  • Good music still exists, but you have to look harder for it.

  • very fuckin true :D

  • Great song.

  • Great song, great band.

  • a beautiful song

  • THE BEST SONG EVER!!!!!!

  • i think this is the best smashing pumpkins song

  • The image is enough mate, thank you! I used the girl from the image for the lover in my novel.

  • No problem. And if you're wondering why the picture is different from the original Adore album (which is a picture of this girl in a black dress and the colors of the picture are black and white) is because it is the Vinyl version of the album. But thanks for commenting! And good luck with the novel.

  • Love the Live" version of this song well, one of them When Billy goes oops!! wrong lyrics its funny Pumpkins Fuckin Rock!!

  • this is so perfect

  • Im so faking sad that i was so young in 90s... Adore is amazing...

  • I know me too LOLOL!!!!

  • does anyone know where I can get the instrumental version of this song? I've looked everywhere....

  • corganic geografic

  • corgasmic

  • floorasmasic

  • wat do u meen by ahead of their time.....?.......cos i dont see anybody making albums like this still......1 of a kind.

  • What an unbelievable album

ADORE OPENED MY EYES TO THE BEAUTY THAT IS ROCK N ROLL

    bILLY cORGAN IS A GENIUS

  • A song to listen alone on a rainy day, very introspective.

  • D Minor - the saddest of all the keys.

    -OC

  • sh sh sh sh shut the fuck up ever 1 & just enjoy this great song.

  • has anyone heard the vinyl? is that good?

  • Thank you for this video!

  • This album reminded me that music is indeed art, not just a brainless fad. This album's concept is beautiful as it shows the very depths of a man's soul. I am currently writing a book based on this album.

  • The fact that people don't appreciate this fantastic song proves that Billy Corgan didn't lose his ideas after Mellon Collie, but rather that people just lack anything resembling good taste.

  • I completely agree! People didn't understand that they were moving along and trying different methods of making Rock music. I also like your name! I love Metroid, the games are awesome, I've played and beaten everyone! Thanks for the comment.

  • how true , ive always been a pumpkin fan , and at the time i didn't understand adore so i kinda forgot about it but now , years later , i suddently see how brilliant that album is. they where ahead of their time!

  • love this song, thanks for posting
