  • f UTUEBE & the horse u rode in on

  • Goddan Youtube! This was an excellent video coupled with original footage of the news broadcasts and archival footage of the Fitz.

  • God Bless the Edmund Fitzgerald and her victims... They will be sadly missed, always

  • it takes a real bunch of cunts to watch, recognize the meaning, then remove the music. Welcome to CuntTube. POWER TO THE ESTABLISHMENT.

  • lame that they removed the music...fantastic footage and video man, well done! this song always makes me extremely sad for some reason and i am in no way connected to the event nor do i work on boats etc.

  • I first heard this song on a tractor radio in Minnesota, I think it was 1976. I heard it time and time again and loved it. It was a rare song that sang of something so close to Minnesota, and so powerfully. The haunting music sounded just like the "ice water mansions" in the song. I wanted to hear it again now, but the privateers say no dice. Internet in decline, I guess....

  • I'm so happy that they finally discovered the boat!

  • 68 people are people who don't give a damn about others.

  • wonder how gordon lightfoot got a hold of this news then decided to make a song about it

  • Ahh the good old days when musicians reported what was happening to their people in the form of a prayer/music. I never thought this was just entertainment. It's alot like painting and drawing? It would inspire citizens to move forward, learn from mistakes, you know. Now most paintings and drawings are just decorative, you know pretty landscapes, but did we really care? I mean 29 people died on this day, I've yet to see anything other than this video to honor their passing.

  • It's a shame they didn't at least leave the news commentators remarks at the beginning. I don't think they own those do they? It's still a fantastic video. Good job.

  • When did those greedy WMG butt-holes take down the music? Nov. 10? Wouldn't surprise me.....

  • Comment removed

  • PHUCK WARNER MUSIC GROUP. I wouldn't piss on these pricks if they were on fire. What greedy cum guzzling arse cleaners! Remove Edmund Fitz from this piece WITH VIDEO?!?!? REALLY?!?!? . They might as well have left no music- I could play my armpit better than this tool.

Warner Music Group is EXACTLY what's wrong with the media industry. Don't worry-I'm sure the torrents will take these toads down. They are clueless twats.

  • That is a dishonor the people who lost their lives. This song is a remembrance to them. Shame on you Warner music group...

  • Omg!!!!!!!! :O That is just wrong!

  • today is the anniversory of the fitz sinking nov.10, 1975 god bless all 29 of them aboard

  • @redneck66534 I came here just to hear the song, because I watched We are Marshall last night and the song by Gordon Lightfoot - If you could read my mind was in that movie. I didn't realize this was the anniversary of the sinking of The Edmund Fitzgerald. Ironically the 40th anniversary of the plane crash that killed all 75 people on board and most of the Marshall team is Nov. 14, 1970. May they all rest in peace.

  • @bsabre27 the edmund fitzgerald was a ship and 29 people died not 75 the aniversary is today not Nov. 14 and it was 1975 not 1970

  • @sandsplains15 if you read the comment correctly you would see that he/she was talking about the Marshall plane cras when speaking of the dates. Let's not argue about such trivial things. Many people died in both cases.

  • @sandsplains15 I may have led you astray just before and right after the ironically part.

  • Hey the music you have on this is ok could you remove the white box on the video please

  • God bless all who perished. I've been told the Lake Superior is worse than the north atlantic in in the winter.

  • @lyned1 it's taken down more ships than all of the oceans combined and i live right next to it it's really powerful let me tell ya

  • WHAT HAPPEN!!!!!!

  • I remember the day that ship sunk so very well. My dad was in the same Lake Superior at the western end that day. All the children at my elementary school were enjoying the 50-70 mph wind. One image that stays forever in my mind is looking at a hundred kids with their coats outstretched like bird wings running with the wind across the playground faster than their legs would ever carry them.

  • When I saw this video originally, I thought it was one of the most moving tributes to the Big Fitz that I had ever saw....tis a real pity it cannot be shown in it's original form.... D.L.N. Michigan

  • @Chernobyl1969 i live in the U.P. !!!!!right next to it!!!!!!

  • WMG sucks assholes

  • Gordon sang this song out of respect. He don't care about money from this song. The greedy fucks at Warner music want every fucking dime they can get their hands on! Shame on those greedy assholes..

  • youtube sux ballsax, big hairy pubic anal beard muslim ballsax, viva le francais for banning the burkha in public

  • Huh?

  • It sucks that this music has been removed. Come over to our page and have a listen to us cover it live. We're from Cleveland, so our heart and soul is in it.

    youtube dotcom /watch?v=7YgKgV0tDOY

  • I've watched this before with the music & loved it so much I came back only to find the music died. They should leave these alone. It's still a good historic video.

  • To remove American History from youtube...really fucking sucks!!!!

  • Actually I like this music and so does my 15 year old son........amazing me thinks

  • Very touching video.

  • pull the damn banner off the bottom of the screen-willya!!

  • this was the best vid on youtube...i am sadden by the fact it is off...creative people shouldn't be punished but praised for the hard work they did so WE,THE PEOPLE, can enjoy it....joseph you did a fantastic job putting this together...your loss is ours as well...

  • Is that TV6 News in the beginning? where is that news coverage from?

  • I was working as a waitress next to our Coast Guard Station that night. The Chief came in, all shook up, said he was talking to a big freighter and thinks it went down because no one could raise it on the radio. I walked the quarter mile home partly against the wind that night and every step I took almost lifted me off the ground.

  • What's wrong, WMG? Is it that you don't like the fact that a fan, that you could not control, could make a video better than anything YOU could have done? Get over yourselves, please, and realize that, instead of blocking it, you could contact that person and ask him maybe, at a royalty cut or something, and ask if you could USE it? You guys are nothing but a bunch of tyrants, and one of these days, you shall reap what you sow, and, hopefully, that is from my mouth to God's ears!

  • get the box out of the way then it will be a great vid

  • It is not just Warner, it is Gordy as well..Gordy is notorious for protecting his music (ask Whitney Houston)...I suppose even in light of this pseudo documentary the zero tolerance by artists as well as record companies not to allow casual exploitation of their Intellectual property is understandable..Perhaps the creator of this video should have overdubbed some drum effects into the music (if the tune is altered enough from the original than the owners may not care)..

  • re: YTbob721

thumbs down his comment if you agree hes a troll.

  • how bout this. im going to say the most redonk thing possible. who fuckin farted, this makes me want to suffocate baby w/ your old fagget ass queef lips old timer. fuck you. toss my salad......

  • What is wrong with warner Bros? I am sick and tired of these retarded money hungry bastards. If you want to be able to just delete this music guarantee that I can go into my local music shop and buy it.Most of the time its not available so what you clowns are doing is stopping me from listening to music you cant supply commercially so I don't think you have the right to delete anything.

  • The music was copyrighted. He used it without Warner/Moose Music's permission, just as the CBS news footage, which was likely lifted along with much of the other video from the short documentary "Fitzgerald", produced by the Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Museum. Then again, the Museum has plenty of skeletons in IT'S closet as well, and is the reason why the Michigan "Bottomlands" laws were passed.

  • fuck you skippy

  • FU Time-Warner

  • the whole song summed up in 1 verse " The story lives on how the boat she went down and the people all died.......bummer"

  • Comment removed

  • stupid warner music group...bunch of cocks. YOU DO NOT DELETE THE MUSIC AND REPLACE IT WITH THIS CRAP!!!1

  • Update: It's almost assuredly a Musicshake track with a time around 2:05-2:12. Beyond that, I'm having trouble figuring out which one it is.

  • Does -anyone- know what the alternate music is? It's actually a decent piece that goes well enough with the start of the video that it seems someone put thought into it. So...anyone have any ideas?

  • Anyone got that iPhone app that tells you the song that's playing?

  • OK, I was looking for the "Edmund Fitzgerald" but this is growing on me...

  • There's actually quite a few songs you can't play on You Tube.

  • @dalemo8 doubt it was gordo...probably the records label

  • what is the music you used to replace the audio? I actually like it a lot

  • Captain Ernest McSorley of the Edmund Fitzgerald was My great Uncle.

  • @smrm64 i lived right next door on bancroft to him. my father would talk to him. i found a letter from my mom when she told me about the wreck. did you e ver visit youruncle on bancroft?

  • @smrm64

Wow. I never heard of McSorely having any brothers or sisters...

  • I actually really like this song. its epic and tragic in its own way. anyone know what its called?

  • it's called "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" lol

  • Did you turn your speakers on when you opened this video?

  • @Alexsteen The song is in the title... lmao

  • turn your speakers on

  • i will never pay a dime to artists represented by warner music group. goodbye record labels, it was a good run!

  • Does anyone know if Steinbrenner's company built this ship?

  • @religionsarebogus The former Great Lakes Engineering Works in Ecorse, Michigan bult the ship for Northwest Mutual Life Insurance. The ship was named for Northwest's president.

  • all I can say is WOW nicely done

  • Excellent!

  • I agree - the video does deserve to be seen with Lightfoot's music.

  • Go to the link in description, if you have read about Audio Swap, you can't put on the original music.

  • This is just me, but I think there are plenty of videos with Gordon Lightfoot's song here on YT with the fitz. It was refreshing to hear this video's audio instead. I know it's been said before, but it would be great to know this orchestral music's title and artist.

I love the classic footage as well as the audio used. Thank you for posting this video. Well done!

  • Can't seem to get the link in, I have added a link to my new video

"Military Tribute To Our Fallen Warriors"

check it out. Link is in video info below icon and date.

thanks for your interest in my song.

  • Awesome Video, It's a shame you can't use Gordon's song. I offer you another choice. I wrote a song called Remember the Edmund, a couple years ago and played it for The Great Lakes Shipwreck Society. I was told it was very good. I offer you the use of my song, I wrote, recorded and sang the song. I own the rights and give you my permmission to use it. It's just under 6 min long, and a link can be found on my Soo Locks Video page. I will contact you soon with more info.

  • could you post a link to your song

  • FUCK WMG

  • Seriously, bro. Where's the sweet alt music from?

  • @WarchiefOneTin This is also relevant to my interest. Find anything since the year you posted this?

  • I'd also really like to know the name of the alternate music you used, it's really nice.

  • I agree, I'd also like to know. this is awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • Brings back memories! I never dove the great lakes, but spent 20 years (1984-2003) diving North Atlantic shipwrecks. Looks just like this.

  • damn,wheres the song?

  • hey good choice of alternate music! too bad WMG have to be tight asses

  • Awesome video. I'm a Navy destroyerman - life is much different on deep water, not to mention salt water. I've always been fascinated by the Edmund Fitzgerald, because I'm so aware of those differences. Would have loved to have spent a couple seasons on the Great Lakes. God bless these 29 men, and their families. And, God bless all sailors, everywhere. Thanks for this video, Josephulton, I'm saving it to watch while listening to Gordon Lightfoot. And, screw copyrights!

  • WMG = NWO , haven't they heard of creative license , as if anyone using music for their YT video is making millions .

  • WMG s/b destroyed.

  • What is the music that you are using to replace the song? It's cool...

  • ya know, sometimes what you get is better than ya wished...not often...just sometimes...

  • WMG licks the sweat of a dead mans balls, they are making insane bucks, execs getting there asses polished by lickspittles, WMG fucking jizz lickers.

  • WMG is an abomination, where would the people who played and wrote this music be without an audience listening and enjoying music. WMG if you are listening, the people of this planet are far from pleased with you!!!

  • even though its not the original its not half bad

  • fellas its bee nice to know ya!

  • 3 exclamations, you must be easilly bored. My guess is that the basement you live in is boring . Come on kid, get out and live a little!

  • Cool, you're bored. But, this isn't entertainment, it's real life. You might quietly move on to more trivial pursuits, and not be disrespectful of all these dead men, and their families. You'd likely be upset if we came to your town, and pissed on your (great)grandparent's graves.

  • I apologize for my disrespect to this particular video. I feel such sorrow when I think of this tragedy . I had been looking at several videos the day I posted my comment. It was the audio that bored me. I am truly sorry.

  • This a radio video song. Stop this stupid .We just want to listen.

  • this video really doesn't need to exist. the music isn't at all fitting. better luck next time. great work with the original video though

  • what the hell is that?

  • What the hell is wrong with Warner Music Group? Do I state the obvious and say what about all the younger generation who may not be familiar with this (and other) truly great pieces of lyric and melody that may actually turn them into a paying customer? For God's sake...

  • @thanksforthemusic there money hungry scum bags!!!!

  • Am I listening to what you are?

  • I was 17 when this song came out, it sent chilles down my spine, the first time it played on the radio, and even today, it will bring a tear to my eye.

  • This is getting very old. Some of my favorite videos and songs are being taken away by this very un-cool (I had more colorful words, but this is a family site) company. If we are not purchasing it or giving Youtube money for the videos and music, why is it such a violation and why are we being punished. If this keeps up, I forsee a dismal future for Youtube. A notice is going to Warner Music Group. =-(

  • great ship !!

  • stupid maffia stop screwing around you dont run the internet :@

  • Warner Music Group is a piece of shit.

  • i know what you are doing mollie

  • Yeah this was a great tribute, too bad they removed the audio.

  • thats what cocksuckers do

  • Why?

  • u tube is a joke

  • Dude...it's not the same without the song.

  • wmg is pathetic why blank the song out they have no respect for the 29 men shame on them!

  • This is a wonderful and moving tribute to the 29 men we still remember and honor after almost 34 years. Excellently edited, everyone should read the sidebar comments (more info) since the audio was removed.

    Bravo! and Thank-you!

  • The gales of november came early and also There is a great lakes triangle similar to that of the burmuda triangle. lake superior runs deep. May the sous of the dead rest in peace

  • THis video needs to be reposted with permission. It was really well done!

  • Great video, very well done.. - what is the name of the instrumental song at the beginning of the video?

  • Wowwee...is this for real ?

  • no da dum one

  • crazy shape for a ship-inherently brittle particularly when carrying that kind of dead weight

  • Two summers ago, I had heard this song on my dad's CD. I kept it and played it over and over every day of that summer break. It's such an incredible story, so deep and so sad. Just a regular crew, on a regular voyage...

It's a shame that YouTube took away the audio. I could send you a video to try to reclaim it, but since you've already audioswaped it out, it may not work.

I will forever save this video, & play the song; and remember the men who died on Nov. 10th, 1975. <3 Rest in peace.

  • Btw, they didn't take away the aduio. This guy accidently used audioswap

  • dose anybody know the name of the song thas playing?

  • Comment removed

  • The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald

  • Wonderful. :D I saw this when it had the song still up, and it was beautiful. Since I was just in the play called Ten November (The story of the wreck), I feel a special attachment to these images. (I had a monologue as a widow and I danced the Spirit of Lake Superior. It was actually a very good show.)

    Good work on it. :D

  • Josephulton,

    Nicely done.

I did an end run around the censors. I openned another youtube "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" of slightly shorter length on another window. Started your clip, and when it got to 0:14, I synched up the other clip and ta da, there you go.

Sadly, it doesn't have your other audio clips but it does give fine credit to your video editing.

    Slan abhaile

  • PS

Try sending your tribute off to Lightfoot's management. As you are not trying to make money on this and it is a fine tribute to both the men and the song, so in spirit, like the song, they may be lienient.

You never know, they may let you repost it.

  • this video is incredible- very nice job. i just wish i could have heard it with the real song :(

  • YOUTUBE U SUCK!

  • i watched it with the music, this is still great but all those extra things you added in with the music were so wonderful like the news guy and the radio things reli added alot to it, too bad you couldnt keep it sorry

  • Comment removed

  • It's a great video. Sorry you had to remove the music, but I'm glad you kept this up. Really well done.

  • I was raised in the twin ports of Duluth/Superior and as a young man of 15 I remember the storm and the day the "big Fitz" left Superior, she was the pride of the American side.

  • i can't believe you had to remove the song. that sucks.

  • that sucks you had to remove the song.

  • Your first video was perfect, My kids loved watching it and asked so many questions that my oldest did a report in school on the sinking. Thanks for the original, it was a work of art!!

  • What a comedown from your original with lightfoot's song. Wow. Funny thing, the stupid bastards don't realize that your original vid with that song was GREAT publicity for them--now they're rat bastards and nobody will buy it.

  • Still a great job though. Looks awesome.

  • The song actually is very good. It expresses a sort of sadness just like the video. Thanks for posting.

  • Oh my god this song is crap!

I feel like I should be watching a love story filmed in Africa or something. I had to go watch the real video and song by GF just to cleanse this crap from my system!

  • what is the pic of 4:23? It is creepy!

  • I'm Very disapointed in Gordon And Warner Music Group for making issue with the use of the song.

As a family member of one of the lost crew... Both made plenty of money off the tragedy. They can let you use it. OR stop selling it themselves. Greedy bastards.

  • Too bad the copyright problem meant they had to take off the Gordon Lightfoot song. But I also recall that the music was spliced with some of the news footage (like in the beginning) which described the various stages of the disaster and the history of the ship. It would be great to have that part of the sound back.

  • exalent song

  • Youtube really knows how to fuckin ruin things. Whenever they give me a copyright problem, I go to stickam and put my video there. I want to hear Lightfoot's song -not this crap. This would have been a great video.

  • I just muted the sound and synced it up with the proper music from another source. What a shame Warner wouldn't let you keep up the music! This is the best video for "The Wreck..." that I've seen! What would Mr. Lightfoot say??

  • great song...sad though

  • Petty slick. You got some great footage. Cuts nicely. And you can't go wrong with a Gordon Lightfoot soundtrack...

  • Whats it like going through life as a worthless douchebag?

  • Comment removed

  • Simple music for simple minded people.

    LOL. LONG LIVE IGNORANT SHEEP...

If you mean what I think you did, you're an asshole

  • This was one of my favorite songs growing up in the 70's and still is. Was so cool that they finally found the ship and laid that bell on it as a tribute. So sad that all those men died and they still don't know exactly what the cause was even today. Great job on the video!!

  • Touching...great video and tribute.

  • if they would of stopped at whitefish bay they would of lived, such a shame those 29 men died. Superior they said never gives up her dead....

  • they never made whitefish bay....listen to the song-

  • Beautiful work there. A lovely tribute to men who died so suddenly. It's only a pity that others cannot put aside their own prejudices and take the video for what it is.

  • Wow. Great video tribute. That is one big ass ship!

  • Thank you for the great tribute...... I found out through family tree tracing that I had some family on the fitzgerald and now thanks to all that has been done it filled the empty void in my past. Again thankyou and good job :)

  • brilliant tune .. thanks for the upload mate .

  • Great video, great singer-love Gordon Lightfoot. Very nice tribute to the Fitzgerald and 29 men who lost their lives that night.

  • Saw Gordon Lightfoot in concert in Omaha last summer. Awesome performance. One of Canada's best folk singers. And still going strong...
