  • maybe the advise works for people with little anxiety. but if you have bad phobias, generalized anxiety disorder or panic disorder, this advise is stupid. can your worst case scenario -imagination cure GAD, OCD, or other anxiety disorders, lol.

  • @triplechintracy Not to be mean or anything but do you eat enough? And then also, if you live in higher altitude areas theres thinner oxygyn. Some basketball players have trouble at different places because they can't get enough air. I don't know this one guy's name but he has to go to the hospital every time he plays there.

  • Doesn't really help for middle-school homework anxiety. Today, I literally wanted to strangle my teacher because she kept insisting that I turned in a project late whenever I KNOW for a fact, I didn't. She failed the project. I've got so many project due within the next week, its crazy. You say to write down the worst case scenario. For me? thats failing the eigth grade. Thats a pretty bad scenario if you ask me. Worst I've ever gotten was a C. I literally almost cried when I saw it :/

  • I have this and I sometimes feel down and tired for days (about 12 days on one occasion). Stressful times at school, and the fact that I'm virtually friendless doesn't work in. The person I confide in most is my mother, and she is often not able to talk or when she does can get frustrated with me. Over a long worrying spell (say 10 days), she often wonders why I trot out the same points all the time. I think that's because I don't learn satisfactorily after each outbreak. But thanks, this helped

  • Oh, and btw, the Vagus Nerve controls many of the symptoms of anxiety attacks. Most doctors dont know this, but the vagus nerve can be irritated by an upset stomach, which may simulate(not cause) a heart attack (I thought I was going to die). I have GERD and bad posture, so my stomach was unable to digest well. By burping, taking Alka Seltzer, eating toast and drinking lots of water, I've killed most of my symptoms(I also take Loratadine for allergies, which caused anxiety).

  • I think anxiety comes from not believing you can handle it if something doesn't go perfectly for you. Just knowing that you can handle anything and believing in yourself means there's nothing to be anxious about!

    I used to have anxiety and it used to cripple me but I think to myself whenever I feel anxiety creeping in, if 'they' can do 'it' so can I. If they have the ability to learn and adapt, then hey guess what, so can I. Haven't looked back since and am loving it.

  • i like the worst case scenerio idea, HOWEVER to a person with GAD that is simply not enough to have a worst case scenerio...because to think about what bad things COULD happen actually fuels the anxiety for some. but you are on to something so kudos!

  • be careful with this.. I took this to the extreme and succesfully got insensitive to the stressed that ARE really there.. and then society starts hating you because you aill be the most happy person they have ever seen and all will be jealous

  • Hey, I know it doesn't seem terribly amazing at first, but try Klonopin. The stuff really works. What I did was started taking Klonopin to relieve my symptoms where I could think, then started to rationalize all my problems by understanding why they were making me anxious. It may not work for everyone, but it worked for me very well. My symptoms have cleared almost completely. Actually, they did clear, but came back after I moved into my mother's house. Turns out mold was causing my dizziness.

  • Thanks that really helped! Writing down our fears allows us to bring them into awareness and release them instead of holding onto them inside and suppressing them and carrying around those burdens which bring about the anxiety =)

  • Thanks for your comments! I would ask you what could you do right now to help rid yourself of anxiety? You need to make a plan to overcome your anxiety the minute it hits. Whether it be a breath tactic or going on walk. Find a way to overcome it right now!

  • I used to be the most out going person and was the cool guy everyone wanted to be around, but I got anxiety and hardly go out of the house and have been this way for about a year..

    It can happen to anyone, but with help it gets better.. Ive just started to go back to work and will hopefully get cured of this soon... Chin up guys..

  • This is very good advice for everyday anxiety but, doesn't deal with anxiety resulting from extreame traumas which may not be as easy to deal with and may need the help of a GP. For more everyday stress and anxiety I find exercise can get rid of the excess adrenaline and help restore your 'normal' state of mind. Keeping busy also helps. Anxiety and stress is often something we learn to live with. We just learn ways of dealing with it.

  • First off. these disorders are very real. I suffer from anxiety and take medication for it..it isnt some money making scheme guys these disorders shake everything. Everything you do is effected by anxiety disorder..if you dont get it, then you arent looking at medical facts. If you dont deal with it then i can understand why you dont get it..i dont have cancer so obviously i dont know what its like...that doesnt mean it isnt a serious desease tho..anxiety disorders are real and dangerous.

  • Guess what- I eat right, exercise, and incorporate prayer and meditation- and I still have anxiety. Sometimes there is alot more to it physiologically than you think. But im glad to see youve never dealt with anxiety before. But please; if only for the sole purpose of disguising your ignorance, refrain from typing stupid shit like that.
