Generally speaking, I really like the Beach Boys, but I really think that Brian Wilson must've been feeling particularly passive-aggressive the day he wrote the chorus to this song. It's like... this whole other level of annoying. They play it every day, several times a day, on the mall radio station where I work. AAAAAARRRRGH !!!

I actually saw the Hondells at my college for orientation day in Longview, WA! This was the only song and from what I found out, the guy who actually sang it didn't tour with them...but I saw him later at our church! Kind of strange but interesting...forgot to say the year was 1965.

This is perhaps one of my true favorites of a remake done by the Beachboys. The Beachboys did so so many remakes. Their albums must of been made up of a few of their own hits and a few more that were remakes of songs done by other artists, like this one here by The Hondels. To those that never heard the original and don't know of the Hondels, it dosen't matter to them, but I know different and its The Hondels & their Little Honda.

@Ezdduf4kuZ You've got it wrong. Brian Wilson and Mike Love wrote this song and it was originally performed by The Beach Boys on their album "All Summer Long". The producers thought it sounded too much like a commercial and didn't promote it.

It was later covered by The Hondells, whose version received the promotion the original Beach Boys version never did. The Beach Boys didn't release it as a single until after The Hondells had a hit with their single.

The Hondels were a group put together by Brian Wilson's father, after got a hold of the rights to the song, while his son was "indisposed". Their forming was for the sole purpose of performing this one song, and as far as I know, that is the only song they ever recorded.

The Beach Boys version of this song was the original. They had 2 different versions. The other sounds almost exactly like the Hondell's version, or more accurately their version sounds almost exactly like the Beach Boys version. Although the video of the Hondells with a very young and sexy Terry Garr as a background dancer is worth checking out.

Looks like is in the Canyon close to Brian's house. The one that was formerly owned by Edgar Rice Burroughs (the creator of Tarzan). I believe it was on Mecca Drive, however I may have that wrong.

This sort of reminds me of The Benny Hill Show! Especially at the very beginning (going between the Ferrari and the Sting Ray and coming out riding the bike) and the very end (the speeded-up part with him riding after the women in the Sting Ray).

An interesting departure from 409s and Deuce Coupes, too! Congrats to Brian Wilson and Mike Love for the song and Carl and Dennis Wilson for the film! This is great!
