@ollie4043 Don't talk shit. His video has 25,000 views. Your cardboard gun video has like 6. Being mentally capable isn't a bad thing man.Though the sweater is quite questionable haha :P
The Galaxy Tab is a waste of time. I was fortunate to have the first one in Canada. TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT! Skype did not work and Samsung told me to buy the new Galaxy 10 if I wanted video conferencing. Their blatant false and misleading advertising in their OWN website video showed video conferencing. I'll never buy another Samsung product thanks to this poor after market service.
Its nice that you brought out the issues of the device but it could have been better and also fair to the manufacturer and viewers if u showed proofs of what ur talking about xx
hey i know this was about the galaxy tab , i cant make up my mind about which phone to buy the dell streak 5 or the galaxy tab...i would have definately gone in for the tab but its too bulky ...so can anyone help me out ?
hi everyone! im planning to get a galaxy tab very soon. i was thinking of making it my primary mobile device. also, im kind of a guy that likes to watch videos on youtube and google up anything i can find interesting, on the go. Can anyone give me their opinion or expertise whether the galaxy tab suits me perfectly? please reply thanks!! :D
I have the GALAXY Tab since 18.10.2011 & I must say that it does support Window Media Video (WMV) & MPEG4 & DIVX & XVID & H.263 & H.264, that means that the GALAXY tab can play any video format in a HD screen without converting it.
The device is excellent in web browsing when you download the OPERA Browser or the DOLPHIN Browser from Android Market.
It also support Video calling by Yahoo, Fring & Skype.
Excellent review. I have only had the tab for a few days, but am seeing some of the things you are referring too, I still must say thou, it is an excellent device. A step over my EVO and step behind my HP netbook, filling that gap pleasingly. I do tend to overload it from time to time but the same is true even for my PC and definitely my Netbook so lagging after constant use is just something most have to live with, unless your using a device that can not multi task. Pluses are open OS and size.
yes, its a large smartphone & not a laptop. that's largely HW/OS dependent,
a laptop needs much larger, heavier batteries as well
5 mins in, DLNA ?? DLNA is garbage, even c2d clients have trouble with VMC. and it's worse over wifi, twonky, (due to the proxy transcoding) is flaky at best.
it's 7x easier to queue transcodes for storage on microSD's, or hope for h264/mkv accel apps
3rd, honeycomb, may fix issues with multitasking, but likely not without compromise on features like flash/video
But if your a HUGE multi-tasker (like I have like 10 apps open easy), is it recommended??
Cause im quite torn. The Blackberry Playbook made a REALLY good impression on me, but there's no SD slots nor GPS (i need the GPS i get lost easy), but the multi-tasking on it is AWSOME! But after checking out the Galaxy Tab, i really like too. It has pretty much everything that i need, minus the heavy multi-tasking and the interface seems a bit weird for me but i still like it. what to do!! help me! D=
@mermadious BUT!! I've read some articles that the Galaxy Tab 2 was going to come out as well and some specs were leaked and there's alot of improvement! So should i just get this one (Galaxy Tab) or wait for the Playbook and Galaxy Tab 2 to come out before making my final decision???
(im asking you cause you really seem to know what your talking about!)
@michael10662 i ordered mine on sunday i am not cancelling mine even after watching this video just because it's not perfect, all devices have flaws and this is one of the best devices out there (except for the camera) and before you change your mind just because someone said it's "not that good" @ least try the device, i know i'll be happy with it
I watched your video with Interested. I Have just got a Samsung galaxy tab and although I agree with a lot of what you have said I don't agree with what you said about not being good for reading newspapers and magazines. I find the Samsung galaxy tab excellent for reading and both me and my husband use it every day for reading newspapers and magazines as well as books.
Sorry for the previous com, please delete it. I was saying that I enjoy this tab so much more than the ipad. More functions and more freedom to do stuff.
Thank you very much Chippy! This video was exactly what I was looking for, it confirmed, explained and showed the peculiarities which I was afraid are a part of this great device. Nevertheless it still has all the features I was looking for by buying iPad which dident sattisfied me in the long run. But now I know from a reliable source what are the peculiarityies and Im fine with it. Thank you so much, and keep up the good work Chippy
Excellent video. Everything in life has its pros and cons. It is so good to get a full and rounded view of a device. I like that you came back after 6 weeks with further thoughts. I think I will still get it, but with a more realistic view of its capabilities now. Thanks.
There is one idea I really like. after all, its still a mobile device, NOT a PC, sometime i tends to forgetting that due to the good performence mobile wise and then its getting me sooner or later.
Wow... uhh dude this is a Tablet not a CPU /LAPTOP. this was totally a one sided review which i can not take seriously. ill keep looking for more reviews
Hi yes a 7 or 10 in N900 would it. Had my Tab 7 days now and worth every penny. £449 from Tesco, got Text & Web sim from O2 payg, complete freedom and full access anytime anywhere, like my Nokia N900, but with bigger screen. I recommend the tab as it works and with Thinkoffice I can do my office work too! I don't think any device will be 100% for everybody but this is what I have been waiting for. Big plus it is instant on my laptops take 6 mins to bootup!!
For a better browsing experience grab Miren (in the marketplace). It is as fast as any mobile browser I've used and runs tabs fine.
I sort of agree with some of your points, though it's still early days and things are improving all the time. Mod community is already taking an interest in it, which is great for those of us who like to tweak our devices. Samsung have to follow up with updates too!
Yo chippy, the lag is due to sammys proprietary the file write system which slows things down a great deal. I have the same issue on my galaxy s. There are several "lag fix" apps out there for the sgs, which onces use practically eliminates the lag, also android is not optimized well for the hummingbird processor, unlike omap and snapdragon, hopefully the nexus s/2 will help.
@shohid1234 Thanks for the info. Since I did this video i've heard a lot about this lag issue and the info you've provided is really valuable. I'll be looking further into it.
in my opinion its an ok tablet, i noticed so many limitations in my ipad and the locking up of the tablet did happen regardless of what people say. i think that the galaxy tab didnt have to be the killer tablet, it just needed to be the general froyo/ minmum requirement tablet. it didnt have to be the future you see. this is because they will release that really powerful tablet next year to compete with the next ipad. i imagine they are waitint for honeycombe aswell
I have to say if I was to chose between this and an iPad... Apple wins hads down. The hardware is amazing, the screen has a usable aspect ratio (16:9 is a joke really). And with the latest iOS update it became just that little bit more magical. BTW, I'm not an Apple fanboi.
Not sure how someone can say tablets are a rip off. Many people just seem to expect these to be as powerful as their laptop they left at home because it was too big to carry with them.
These devices are perfectly fine with reading, playing music/video, and playing little games you would play on your phone. I like the web browsing, but I understand that I won't ever be able to have as many tabs open as I do on my desktop.
I certainly wouldn't pay $600, but gladly pay $300 for an archos.
@Gr2goire Don't! The Tab is a quality product all-round and I advise anyone that is interested to check it out in detail. The issues i've talked about are my attempt at being honest about the limits. The rest of the story is very positive.
@Gr2goire This guy's criticism is honest and these negative points of the tab are not enough to make it useless. On the contrary, I just bought one and am really satisfied with it. I'd recommend to anyone.
After viewing this video i'm completely out of the tablet market. I have yet to be satisfied by the latest offerings of both iOS or Android. I'd rather have a larger screen on my phone because neither of the platforms can deliver anything truly worthy of the investment required. All a tablet has amounted to is complementary device to your phone that actually, outside of the latest Archos offering, cost more than latest mobile phone offering with less benefit. TABLETS ARE A RIPOFF END OF STORY...
Javascript CPU usage has gotten so out of hand lately that I've had to resort to running NoScript in Firefox to regain multi-tasking performance on many low-power devices. Disabling Flash helps but Javascript is now just as bad and only going to get worse. Only now does my CPU usage drop to less than 10% at idle with many tabs open. Often it's embedded ads/apps that are the culprit and make it impossible to predict if a page will gobble CPU or not.
If I take it as a phone, will it be fine to buy this device, I do web browsing, I need performance, I need good battery life too, plus camera too, so tell me if this a good device, I think the updates might result in better performance, and I think going through documents on the go is not a bad idea, right!
Love the comments, but at the end to say a $600 mini tablet is great value seems very generous. So many amazing tablets to be released in january,Acer has a range including a dual screen monster.I couldnt justify buying this device right now.I expect the price will drop substantially in the coming months.

I wish your video could be #1 in the search `samsung galaxy tablet`
I believe if you are going to spend $500-$700 on a tablet you should go with
Android 3.0 because it requires double the processing power and double the ram,
of the Samsung Tablet. This will insure a proper running device and 1 step closer to what I call a computer.
