There were Jews, Christians, Arabs, and Turks and like I said before - most of the Arabs who call themselves Palestinians were more recent immigrants themselves. A good deal of the land was lost by the Arabs as they waged war & gambled what they had - & others fled in hope of returning after they "drove the Jews into the sea."

Israelis rejoiced at the partition and were willing to live in peace next to their Arab neighbors. Israel did nothing to provoke the rockets - just existed is all. I'm shocked that in 1948 when the modern Israeli state was created (sanctioned by the UN, btw), the surrounding Arab nations greeted them with WAR. I'm not shocked, however, by the fact that Israel wants to defend its borders against hate filled terrorists that blow themselves up.

There is now dissention in the Palestinian ranks - Hamas and Fatah are at war with each other. Fatah wants to dialogue with Israel - Hamas wants to wipe out Israel.

Gaza has the highest birth rate in the Mid East, if the children are 'starving' then stop producing more than you can feed and stop throwing bombs at Israel (you got land for peace but you didn't honour your side of the bargain)!

LOL i suggest you recheck your history. Most historians (those who arent Jewish anyway) say that Arabs owned the majority of the land and and where vastly the majority in numbers. @chrisdef15 You recheck YOUR history instead of trying to rewrite it. Israel was an essentially barren and desolate land around the 1870's as many visitors have attested. There were Jews, Christians, Arabs, and Turks and like I said before - most of the Arabs who call themselves Palestinians were more recent immigrants themselves. A good deal of the land was lost by the Arabs as they waged war & gambled what they had - & others fled in hope of returning after they "drove the Jews into the sea."

Most came from surrounding Arab countries to work for the British between WWI and WWII, as stated by President Franklin D. Houses were even booby trapped and wired with explosives and many people were killed in secondary explosions from these areas. @chrisdef15 Gazan was part of the UN partition plan which the Arabs rejected and waged war instead (5 countries ganged up on Israel). Israelis rejoiced at the partition and were willing to live in peace next to their Arab neighbors. Israel did nothing to provoke the rockets - just existed is all. Israel did all it could to avoid killing civilians whereas Hamas deliberately targeted them.

All kinds of countries conquered others but the point is that the Jews did not start out with that in mind at all. They only wanted to share the land and live in peace. But when your people are constantly being killed and have wars and terrorism waged upon them that pretty much means that peace is out and war is on -- and the to the victor belongs the spoils.

No one took anyone's land. It was either bought, settled in open/unclaimed areas, won in wars the Jews never even started, or the Arabs fled.
