  • I recommend getting any bird from a certified breeder - pet shops are nasty places for pets. I was lucky to adopt my cockatiel from the RSPCA, he is hand raised and loves singing!

Always check your local shelter, you will be amazed at the wonderful and intelligent pets they have.

  • are his wind clipped??

  • @erfmufn

you don't pick, your pet you pet picks you .

you'll find most of the time when you have been picked that they think about you none stop and the every sec you leave the room they are in the cry out ( don't leave me here alone) ,my mum got this pet bird that fell in love with me from the sec she got home with it ,now the bird will not give me a moment to do anything away from it ( and i am talking about my cockatiel ) not gf

  • my cockatiel could the same ad the first week i had it.

  • actually its a birds instincts. my bird does all of those things

  • theyre not really tricks. my bird takes my earings out and chucks them away and unbuckles my necklace..

  • I know all about training a bird, too!

I got one 4 years ago at 15 1/2 years.

Sam was so scared of me at first.

I stick trained him. On Thanksgiving Day 2005, he stepped off the stick, onto my hand!!

  • did you hand rare your bird get it from a breeder or from a petshop just wondering

  • breeder.. took him 2 weeks to get anywhere near my hand and it still a bit nippy even today but generally pretty good.

  • what if it shits on your shoulder? anyway cute cockatiel!

  • hehe just part of the joy of owning a bird i guess :)

  • I love it! It looks like your bird is just as fat and happy as mine, too! :) Check out my videos and I encourage you to sub. :)

  • OK, so my cockatiels will only eat from my mouth and not my hand. Guess it's because they still see me as 'momma'??? Not a big deal, but I would like to be able to have them take seed from my hand as a reward for training purposes. Any suggestions?

They all (4)range from 4 months to 1 year old. They are extremely tame, step up, preen me, and all that, but would just like to know how to get them to take the see from my hand, instead of putting it in my mouth.

  • Hey! My cockatiels LOVE millet spray and were taught to eat from my hand that way. They're also spoiled rotten and it sounds like you have the same spoiled brat as my five loves. Check out my videos, you might like them!

  • omg man mine 2 months with me he doesnt let me do anythin

  • help! my cockateil is about 3 years old, and will step up only when she chooses to. sshe will only let me stroke her head when she is in her cage now, but as a baby she let me stroke her on wings and everyhing else whilst out of the cage. did i do something wrong? how can i get her tamer again?

    i will appreciate any advice

    thanks ;)

  • i have the same problem

  • good cockatiel

  • hand fed.. about 5 or 6 months old i think?

  • so did you buy your bird handfed or was it wild..?

  • cockatiels are such champs, i have had one the last couple weeks too and am so amazed how fast they learn!!

  • yeh mines become really cool (but kinda clingy!) with me and is very interactive. such an awesome pet!

  • heheh so cute and lmao at ending:P

  • hehe man only 3 days until your here! wicked :)

  • sweet -

    - who made that funky music ?

  • Hi mork mate, I did the music in Logic Studio, that my acoustic guitar and some beats I sequenced.

  • Very cool ... i think it likes you guys! Sometimes all it wanted to do was kill me i reckon, hissing, biting, telling me to back off bitch ... never knew Cockatiels could talk!

  • haha but when i got her back she kept asking for gangsta rap and was talking street. Her time in the hood was character building :)
