They are carried by the Sand Troopers not the Stormtroopers and these weapons can be viewed as Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi enter Mos Eisley in Lukes Landspeeder going to the bar where they meet Han Solo and Chewbacca for the first time. This weapon is a Sand Trooper weapon and just pay attention and you will see it many more times as well :)
