i wish somebody would make shit like this available in an mp3 format. this is what the digital game is missin. if anyone out there knows where i can locate oldschool like this and songs like 'girls' by the b-boys on mp3, scream at the boy.
Big ups to anyone that can post the original Fusion Beats that had Frisco Disco, Shangri-la(...paradise is very nice) a snipet of the Wizard of OZ ("Going So Soon") amongst other things on it.
I use to rap my ass off to this song, as a kid growing up back in Philly in the early 80s. Afrika Bambaataa knew what he was doing. The other side of this album is FLASH TO THE BEAT (Live)
This side is an edit mix by Afrika Bambaataa and Afrika Islam..Label colors were in the following order Blue 1980,Green1982,Red. The record put a lot of d.j.s up on the classic break from Dyke and the Blazers during it's first release in 1980.
Thanks fo the info, if u know more details please respond. I could only post whats was written on the label, bought it in 99" in Beat Street records in Brooklyn....
@trademark1874 yeah hi trademark well for starters this wasnt recorded by coldcut aka (johnathon moore and matt black) this was edited by afrika bambaataa so u need to change that title asap!!! . the date it was recorded is not really known , i picked this up in 86 but it dates back to between 1980 and 1983! the recording on the b side is of grandmaster flash and the five mcs at a college jam they did between thos years! again it too was recorded by the godfather of hip-hop afrika bambaataa!!!
@djdefk2 Well im from freakin' Denmark, i was in kindergarten whenthis was realesed and first time i heard it was in a record store in NYC in 99' :) But thanks for the info, i have edited the title :)
@trademark1874 Summer of 1982. I remember my homeboy's brother had just bought it & he let me touch this joint on his brand new Technics. The ones with the straight arm. I was 12 years old & he was teaching me how to catch the beat. I haven't seen Abdullah since 83.
i bought this from a record shop in Proctor Street in Wc2,City Sounds,I think it was called .Superb sounds..
