why should any other organisation or person be allowed to circumvent certain building codes, in my town I live near a big mosque but it is at the outer rim of the city, it is a mosque like you see in Islamic countries, in the inner city people have to stick to the building code, I do not see why any religious group should be allowed not abide by the rules set, you can fight in a secular country when if they only count for your religion

I really do not believe this is an issue over churches, and the minarets. Where the issue lies is within the culture. Some people feel that the Muslims are taking over there country, and trying to make it into a muslim country. This is were the whole issue lies and I would hope that both parties can come to some understanding. The reason being is, well then we can all guess at the outcome that could follow.

Christians are constantly being persecuted in a big chunk of the muslim world. I really do not believe this is an issue over churches, and the minarets. Where the issue lies is within the culture. Some people feel that the Muslims are taking over there country, and trying to make it into a muslim country. This is were the whole issue lies and I would hope that both parties can come to some understanding. The reason being is, well then we can all guess at the outcome that could follow.

There are no "Muslim" countries in europe, Albania is Majority agnostic, and the majority of people usually say "A church isn't Allowed to be built in the Islamic Capitals(Mecca, Medina)". Which is by all accounts true and non-muslims cant even legally go into those cities. Rome the heart of the christian world not only allows non-christians in, but also has a massive mosque inside the city. It also went to as far as banning the cross from schools, so we don't offend non-christians.

Dude, a minaretless mosque is no different from a round church without a tower or clock, you can still do everything with and in it you should be doing, you just can't call the people to prayer and you don't need to either with the amount of Muslims in Switzerland. Banning minarets is no different from banning the sounding of the church bells on Sundays, which has been done too in the Netherlands.
