  • There is a kind of a sad and lonely isolation to this eroding of a once proud ship that many thousands of people enjoyed many happy moments on. Think of the good times so many might of had on this ship only to see it become a victim of time and the elements. You want to help her but you can only watch it turn into a memory.

  • message to america: clean up your shit.

  • @triple6j Message to moron. know your facts. It wasn't an American ship anymore and had not been for years. Quit watching videos about UFO's and stop smoking that green shit and maybe you will know somehting in this life.

  • you should of went aboard! pussy!

  • @sedative3145 if someone set foot on there they would die. the floors are so rusted so if he stepped foot on the ship he would fall. its not like you would walk on the titanic just to get a photo?

  • man if i was this close to that ship i'd climb aboard and check that shit out!

  • typical, we just leave our shit all over the fucking planet! r u fuckin serious, they should make the obamas live in it.

  • Love the music. who is it ? :)

  • was there nothing left on the ship which could be reclaimed? chairs, tables, glasses etc? also why was it just left there?

  • @XenatR Many times wrecks are left because salvage is more expensive than rebuilding. The owners of the ship likely had insurance and either declared bankruptcy or had another ship built.

  • where did the stern go?, i understand the bow, but the stern just dissapeared

  • @Davis4037 the sea water deteriorated it so badly that is collapsed, just like the bow did many years later.

  • Lesson: Dont drink sea water, you dont know what was in it!

  • it just shows you what its all about!

  • 0:06, Drifting Ship!!! :)

  • Start the engine, we can power out of this!

  • @DEATHTRUTH fucking KLINGONS.....AAAAAAAARRRRGGGH knobs!

  • A fitting metaphor for the USA today.

  • Good lord!

  • I'm the best I'll start Monday should I bring my fucking tools?

  • I could get this baby running again in no time. I used to work on race cars.

  • @irishace11 I used to work on race cars, I can get this 500 million dollar, gigantic cruise ship up and working in no time.

  • @irishace11 ya can tell ur fukn irish this is a ship not a car :|

  • Have you been on board?

  • What was this ship made of? Cardboard? I would think a steel structure like this would last for decades.

  • tks for this video.... for a seaman its always hurting to see a ship dieing... strange, isnt it... its only a huge mass of metal, but ships seem to have a soul... and a wreck is like the soul of the ship has died.... so many thanks for this clip.... it still gives one the idea how beautiful this ship has been during its living on high seas...

  • @IMCOnAir are you on drugs sir ? lol , please do not repeat what you said again :P

  • looks like a ghostship lol

where did the other half go?

and at 0:36, did the bottem just rot away?

it looks like it broke in two again when it fell over in the end

    amazing, great video

  • a reminder that mother nature will crush it all, sooner or later

  • a little spackle and a fresh coat of paint, and this tub is as good as new . ..

  • *song, sorry.

  • Nice sound track..and I don't really like Madonna but this soung is good.

  • wow...great pictures :-)

  • incredible photos

  • WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE MUSIC????

  • @fdlkfoo Bad madonna cover version i think :-)

  • @fdlkfoo

Its called "You'll See" by Madonna

  • @SavageJim01 Thank you vary much

  • Why don't they make ships this beautiful anymore. Modern Cruise ships are a block of flats on water

  • @nelsonr32 lol that's exactly what i think i mean i loved the design of the titanic i though it atually looked like a ship ships like the costa concordia are a big lump of metal

  • What a beautiful ship she must of been.

  • This is a tribute very well done sat to see a ship like that taken by the sea.

  • sos but nobody came

  • how did that happen?

  • The only thing missing is the dates when the photo's were taken so we can see how long the various stages took to disappear

  • What an awesome video Thx!

  • What an end to a beautiful ship.

  • scary ship

  • My wife and I arrived at Fuerterventura for a holiday, about 7-8years ago, hired a car and went exploring. After an hour arrived at a track drove down for about a mile, rounded a corner, and couldn't believe the site that greeted us. This great big wreck of the American star lying about 100mtrs offshore and breaking up. What a sad end to a lovely looking ship.

Thanks for posting your magnificent photo's.

  • In about 60 years, the Titantic will be gone just like the back of THIS ship.

  • that looked really fake.

  • actual its still there it was sinkingin the sand not washing away

  • Those older ships have lovely lines to em.. they look like floating office blocks today & top heavy! Nature wins always at end of day besides...

  • @Domdeone1 Yeah, new ships look like wedding cakes with some hormonal imbalance.Compare old British,French, or Italian liners with the new abominations.

  • Amazing transformation. Great video. Thanks for your efforts keeping track of the wreck.

  • name of the song please!

  • only in america

  • to bad would have been a cool ship to preserve and it would have made a nice hotel

  • What is the name of this song please!

  • Where is that located?

  • @Lelouch798 It is in the description.

  • how about a documentary instead of the music

  • Who watch movies like this because of Concordia?

  • @djmixeR2000 Not me, i was looking for China's Abandoned Cities. Cheers

  • The sea is the greatest reclaimer of them all. It does not matter what Man does, it always washes clean.

  • @andybuzz2u

i wouldnt bet on that: /watch?v=QJvifVrGi8o

  • @andybuzz2u It only looks clean - the oceans are giant toxic toilets thanks to humans.

  • @UTubeIsTrackingYou Bah! Oceans cover 70% of the Earth. If we dumped everything we ever made into the ocean right now, we would never polute the whole thing. More crude oil naturally seeps into the ocean from fissures in the ocean floor than we could EVER pump and dump. Greenhouse gasses produced by ocean plankton and bacteria dwarf any ammount humans could ever create. Wrecks like this become homes to thousands of species of marine life.

  • @Deke101 Keep telling yourself...

  • @UTubeIsTrackingYou You mean keep researching for myself instead of what some whining green twat tells me. Where do you think the materials that were used to constuct the ship came from? That's right. they came from the Earth. Where do they go when nature reclaims them? Oh, that's right, they go BACK to the Earth. Funny how that works.

  • @UTubeIsTrackingYou we are our own worst enemies

  • @andybuzz2u the planet as a whole is. there is nothing we can do the planet can't heal from long after we are gone. millions of years from now, WE'LL be the fossil fuels.

  • @imgreatwithmahM21 I was talking about the Costa Concordia that just ran aground in Italy on Friday!

  • disgusting how man just leaves his junk

  • @sweetypie000

Many many sunken ships are homes to fish. Reefs grow on the ships and slowly life begins to take over the ship. On other hand this ship is way to big to be at that sea level, But it still will make homw for fishes.

  • @EliteMrBubble it's not the point. The earth has supported marine life for billions of years and it is has not needed the rotting carcass of a human built ship to do it.

It should of been removed when it grounded imo, it is irresponsible of man to dun his crap he dosent want. The same happen at the end of the Vietnam war with tanks and choppers dumped into the sea

  • @sweetypie000

The ocean doesnt need are ships, But taking apart or salvaging a ship takes time effort and money, Its not as easy to take a apart something that big and in the water. I agree that this ship should be scraped or atleast removed from the ocean, But even scientist agree that sucken ships make good homes for fishes, And i get it about the "man leaves his junk" It might be sicken for us, But the aquatic life will enjoy it, And atleast something is getting use out of it.

  • Wonder if there going to leave the Costa Concordia or try to salvage it.

  • @RoyalsKnight tourism worth more, they will likely take it away and scuttle it 'accidentally' on the way to the scrapyard like the MT Phoenix tanker :(

  • @sweetypie000 True...but it was such a grand ship. So much is still inside...on the dry side..imagine all the peoples belongings and phones, iPads, tech that is still salvageable...

  • @RoyalsKnight can u plz answer this question if u can. since the fuerte ventura was left there in the canary islands, did the owner get punished for that? did he get fined/cited/payed a fee for having it there like that? or what??

  • @Spectacular2Fresh Fuerteventura is the name of the island where the ship ran aground (Canary Islands), its name was American Star, It was sold to a Thai corporation to be refitted as a 5 star hotel and it was being towed from Greece to Thailand by an Ukrainian company when the tow lines broke and she went adrift. She ran aground in Fuerteventura on January 1994 and no, nobody paid for it or assume responsibility. The Island did not complaint since it quickly became a tourist attraction.

  • So, it sunk through time.

Slowest sinking ship of all time?

  • i have a question guys: ok since the owner decided to leave it there, did the spanish goverment punish him for leaving it there or what?? did he pay a fee/sell it to them?

  • Wheres the other half of the ship today??

  • She still holds her ground on foreign soil, and fights back. Such a great symbol of the American determination. R.I.P. S.S. America..

  • i like the music, what is the music and what's the album, thanks

  • In a strange way she looks beautiful.

  • Well, let the other shoe drop: where in the world are Fuerteventura and Playa de Garcey?

  • @poodleslayer spain near tenerife

  • cool video

  • Why didnt they in the later years try and salvage, or even better take her to a museum?

  • @TheGoogoofreak

because 2 days after stranding the wreck broke in two peaces !

  • looks like people have been nibbling at that with a gas axe over the years. bet the interior was totally stripped too

  • Very interesting. I would love to go on that ship and explore it.

  • @Demrush dangerous

  • @Demrush

you wouldn´t found anything then some part´s of scrap metall on the beach and the bottom of the sea !

  • Im surprised the Anchors were not salvaged, There is significant money in anchors.

  • how come they dont recycle it for scrap metal??

  • @Spectacular2Fresh caus its art now

  • @Spectacular2Fresh

look where Fuerteventura is, it wasn´t profitabel to go to a far away island, and make the wreck to scrap metal !

  • This is a great video. I really enjoyed it. Thank you for the effort you must have put into making it

  • Not such a great boat after all!

  • So has it completely disappeared meanwhile?

  • @MrIbizacupra89 She's now completely submerged.

  • She stood for as long as she could.RIP American Star.

  • pshh thats just the set for the new film "ghost ship 2" it comes out 6,6,2066

  • i feel sorry for the ship man...

  • All gone by now. :-(

  • was there and took photos in 2004 - told people it was the Titanic washed up - some believed me as looked correct at that time.

  • what happend to it?

  • even though im not even american its amazing that they havent tried to get it on some sort of dry-dock because it looks amazing

  • it was a beutiful ship R.I.P s.s America a.k.a American Star

  • That will buff right out

  • Even in death, she was a beauty.

  • the music with the pics freak me out a little :[

  • the power of salt is so underestimated by the world.....

  • @just888another888ide ya thats y i try to eat as little sodium as possible...shits deadly

  • What is the name of this song??

  • I want to go inside of it. Along with all of the other wrecks.

  • They should have cut it up and recycled the steel.

  • I have not heard about this ship wreck!♣

  • Very Sad.. :(

  • @johnjj1111 this ship was built in 1940 and the titanic sank in 1914...

  • @BNSproductionsLTD Titanic sank in 1912

  • @Transam941 oh god... i'm not great at history

  • @BNSproductionsLTD It's okay bro.

  • the sea can tear a steel ship in half?I live right next to the ocean... shit

  • How come they just leave the ships right there on the ocean?

  • She was ripped to shreds by the sea and the rocks.....

  • You gotta love the power of the Ocean!

  • how did it end up there

  • @harrison2010feb I think she broke her towlines

  • I've been to Fuerteventura. Costa del sol? idk.. xD

  • She was a child of the sea. She returned to it becoming a part of it. It's a kinder death than a scrapyard. She still sails in memory and in hearts of people who knew her.

  • poor ship...

  • @johnjj1111 the ship that warned the Titanic was the SS Californian, this one is the SS America

  • The ship was built decades after the Titanic.

  • The slowly being taking to the sea. I'm glad the sea took her. If for any reason the Hotel fail, America would have been scrapped.
