Why do you think that paintings that were done during that time had depth of field? Our eyes don't see the depth of field blur like a camera but it is there on canvasses.
As soon as the "camera obscura" was invented, artists used it as a painting tool. They would compose their scene with models props and other elements in front of the camera then go inside the camera and paint the scene that was projected on the wall.
This video is absolutely amazing ! I have purchased some watercolour books from the UK and ♥ them, but it's nice to just sit and watch a specific technique in action. Thank you for your calm voice and NOT playing annoying music like some videos do..... your Canadian friend, Gisèle.
Your tutorials are awesome! I am in the process of downloading your e-book of watercolor tips. I can't wait to try some of your techniques! I can't seem to find your 'watercolor ocean crashing waves part 2, though. I've watched the others, and am crushed that I can't seem to locate that one!
@BobDavies88 ► I agree with Markyhitch; love your voice and sense of humour. I am Canadian and I have done some research regarding the "U" not in some words. The "U" is actually correct. Canadians take on more of the British ways because we are part of the monarchy, however, the American wanted to be different and they purposely took out these "U"s in their words so as to be separated and over time those same Americans believe that the word originated without the U.... they are wrong.
The audio worked perfect for me! Still not sure how to do this, but it is worth a try!

I'm so glad I found these videos. You are a very good teacher.
I use acrylics and have always been wary of watercolours but I think I might give it a try now.

Thanks Bob, interesting to see another artists take on watercolour skies, they look good.
Just wondered why you, as a lovely northern English man, spelt watercolour wrong in the title... :o)
LilyMyLovely 2 years ago
Hi Lily.
It's quite simple. I use a mix of spellings on my videos so as to pick up users from the US and Canada as well as the UK and the rest of the world.
I also get comments from people in the States pointing out that I've mis-spelt this word when I've added the 'u'....!
I can't win. But then I'm married, so I know that anyway.....
