  • It is odd to hear the announcer say that this was America's favorite comedy show starring the Queen of comedy....at this time I Love Lucy was on the air and was the most successful comedy along with Lucille Ball being a household name. Talk about false advertising and hype! And this show only lasted three years. It's a poor man's I Love Lucy even back then I would think...

  • @teeveebuff

Joan Davis was more well known at the time. Lucille Ball was known for B movies and being part of an ensemble cast on radio. Joan Davis, was the star of her own radio show. In retrospect it seems odd but not for the time.

  • How weird that I ran across this video. My mom broke three bones in one leg AND sprained her other leg a few weeks ago. However, I am proud to say that I did not ignore her injuries. Mom finally threw me out of her house because she couldn't stand me helping her anymore. True story.

  • You're a good son :) Thanks for commenting.

  • Fabulous show and I really like the way you provide such valuable info about it.

    Thanks Michael.

    Merry Xmas!!!

    A Very Happy 2010.

    Rita

  • Aww, thanks Rita and warm holiday wishes to you.

  • 1. The shorter of the two guys who brought Stevens home on a strecher had a feature role in the Martin & Lewis circus movie. He played the assistant circus manager who was resentful at first of the boys.

The doctor usually played a tough cop in tv shows.

In today's world- when someone gets a broken bone, they cast it, and quickly toss them out of the hospital.

It's obvious her show was put together riding on the coattails of the Lucy sitcom concept.

  • Joan was in direct competition with Lucy as I understand it. Guess who won? LOL

    Thanks Larry.
