pre-flop all in bluffs are not that hard to pull off in some situations. If you are playing a tight player they are not going call unless they have a killer hand. Ive seen people get bluffed off of pocket Jacks and AQ suited

It's simple. Really. But it's one of the many simple things you have to know if you want to beat the game at these stakes.

I'm talking about online obviously, but live Negreanu and Greenstein are far behind Ivey, Antonius and Dwan.

This 5bet bluff is just an example of how adaptive you gotta be in those games, but it's not a complex move at all. It's not like there's a super high meta game between those guys, it's simple observation > Lex knows Ivey 3bets light, Lex 4bet light Ivey > Ivey repop

This is a 5bet shove light against a 4bet light which is totally standard on high stakes, especially in nosebleeds.

You just don't realize it, but it's fairly easy to understand that Lex will more often reraise with a weak hand as a bluff than with a premium hand, with which he'll be more inclined to call, because Ivey is bluffing very often in this spot.

So in the end, once Lex 4bet this, if Ivey knows Lex is a bit aware of dynamics, he can repop on him with any 2 cards and be EV+.

@zHqqrdz I'm sorry but a 5 bet shove with 52 is not a standard move at the highstakes at a 9-handed table. If it were we'd have seen it much more often on this show than we have. While Lex is obviously more prone to make a move like that than almost all of the other players, re-raising in that spot does not give a good indication that he is bluffing, and most of the time he won't be. His image means that there is little point flat calling frequently with big hands, he might as well re-raise

@toby0cooper A stellar read on the situation ? Didn't you hear Lex ? "All those great spots keep coming up", Ivey knows that's one hell of a great spot for Lex to 4bet bluff with blockers such as KJ, KQ, A2-A5, AND of course premium hands. That's why he 5bet bluff. Also, remember that all those players don't have a high level of thinking. Ivey, Robl and Lex are the only ones who have this level in cashgame.

Once you get to know the dynamics, this is not incredible, it's just nice to see.

@zHqqrdz It is not entirely fair to analyze the hand in retrospect based on what Lex says after the hand. The fact that Lex sees alot of good spots coming up does not mean he always take them. Moreover, it is also possible that he said that in order to get action by making people think he is bluffing all the time when he is actually playing tight. Of course, I'm sure that is a big part of the reasoning for why Ivey made the decision, but you are making it sound much too simple.

that's not really considered a bluff.....he raised before the flop. take me to the river and then make a raise like that.....the flop could be anything....just because Veldhuis' hand was stronger doesn't mean shit.....it's all about what cards the dealer drops down.
